Raking Iron, Being Seated With Barbers

It’s a great idea to rake a site and to use a magnet on the rake is brilliant! I had a friend (who passed) that had a site where he found Pine Tree Shiilings! Not one but several. He raked the site to try and recover more coins and relics. I wish he would have thought to use a magnet. BTW- He never told me where the site was 😞

People of the 1800's used to just toss anything out windows and doors that broke it seems. We have trash pickup!

 

They are neod-ahhh-something-um, yeah rare earth!  Strong little buggers but the way they are packaged it's only the face that has a strong pull.  Which is why I changed them up to be parallel to the ground - they should pick up nails off the ground a lot better now I think.

Like Andrew, my use of a magnet rake I bought on Amazon and then beefed up hasn't been productive, yet.  But it's like any kind of detecting -- you can do all the right things and still get skunked.  That's where perseverance comes in.  It's good to see that your efforts have paid dividends.  That gives me more incentive to keep at my parallel efforts.

I also note that you've done the research required to get to a promising spot.  That's a huge part of your success.  I look forward to seeing your future finds.  We all know they are coming.

 

Yeah, I've no illusions of grandeur.  I'll take good fortune when it comes my way and smile about it though!

Future finds...  We'll just have to see.  I'm a kind of a take it as it comes and be happy just being there kind of detectorist.  I enjoy research quite a bit too though, and that does help.
