  1. I bought an MX Sport last week. I put about 25 hours on it this week. I’m very impressed with it. I’m going back to places I’ve hunted extensively and I can’t believe how much I’m finding. First day I found a 1920 Merc dime, here in Canada. I’ve dug around 300 coins this week. Did I have those other detectors even turned on?
  2. I’m not real impressed with this product. I’ve already returned my first one because it wouldn’t stay paired. The replacement pairs about 75% of the time but randomly jumps in and out while recovering the target. It’s pretty annoying. I’ve done the factory reset but it still misbehaves. I think it will be a good product in the future, but not so much right now.
  3. Although new product is few and far between, Tesoro seems to release reliable equipment. I don’t recall any fuss about the Mojave when it came out. Maybe a bit with the button on the Outlaw, but that might just have been the funky nature of that two stage button.
  4. I can't recommend this product. I'm on my second one already, because the first one won't stay paired. Now my replacement won't stay paired either. It sometimes pairs, but then drops in and out as you're recovering the target. It's very annoying. I guess I'll be returning this one and going on to a third hoping it works as it should. Oh, I'm also on my 4th WT-1 transmitter as they keep dying on me. My third replacement lasted about a week. And when I had my ATMax, I had to return the coil because it was defective. What's going on at Garrett these days? Do they have a quality control department? Good thing Garrett service is excellent because I sure do need it a lot. Dan
  5. I dug a Canadian 1903 nickel (silver, about 75% the size of a dime) that was sitting 3” above a rusty steel washer. Why did I dig it? I’m using my Vaquero, so no screen to talk me out of it. It sounded smooth so I dug. The washer alone was a little raspier. What would have a display told me? Would the iron have pulled down the tiny silver signal to the point where I would have ignored it? I tried with my ATMax to dig by audio only but I was digging a lot of trash as it had a high tone on even the tiniest shard of canslaw. So what I though would have been deep dimes were not...ever. The ATPro was pretty good at hunting by audio only. I dug almost 300 dimes last year with the ATPro. But I figured that if I’m going to hunt by audio only, I might as well go back to the best audio in the business and return to Tesoro.
  6. Wouldn’t multiple tones have the potential to make you miss good targets, just like VDI? For example, if a silver coin is sitting next to a nail, wouldn’t the high tone for silver be averaged down because of the nail, and then you may not dig it? I think there is some wisdom behind sticking with a single expressive analog signal. I don’t think I’ve ever used a machine that can let you hear round like a Tesoro does.
  7. You’re probably going to do best with a Tesoro for our clad.
  8. I wonder how the ATPro would have done if it wasn’t running only 3 bars of sensitivity? Of course it would have still come in last, but no need to make it look lame.
  9. I've experienced Garrett service. It's outstanding. Not sure what you heard, but my experience tells me the opposite.
  10. Detectors get dirty. Really dirty. It's great to be able to wash it with a soapy sponge and a garden hose. So some many never get in the water (I do occasionally) but I'm sure every AT series owner appreciates how easy they are to clean.
