  1. Thanks for the replys. I ran across this video today.
  2. I give that guy credit for doing his videos and posting them. Listening to him is another story.
  3. What do the ground balance numbers indicate? IE, when I manually ground balance and it's around 25 what is it telling me?
  4. Thanks for the link. What does he mean by "gbr"?
  5. It was fairly warm in the back yard and I had a bit of time so I took my detector out and started messing around with some settings in my test garden. In ATG I started upping the lower ferrous limit and the clad coins seemed to be more easily recognizable. By that I mean a consistent elongated oval on the top of the ferrous limit and more consistent numbers in the ID. The nickles and dimes are the worse for identifying, but the quarters and $1 and $2 coins are looking much better. The funny thing is that it also seems to effect the penny and silver dime ID that I have buried. Not that it's out of whack, but the dot on the ferrous line changes a bit. The penny and dime now smudge a bit on the ferrous line. The silver dime wouldn't stick to a magnet, but I'm not sure of the silver percentage in that coin. In hind sight, I should have written down the dates on the coins before I buried them.
  6. Thanks for all the reply gentlemen. Winter has set in so I'm going to send mine in for warranty and see how that goes. I'm leaning towards the carrot, but the new Nokta pin pointer has peaked my interest. I'm going to hold off till spring before I buy another one and see what the reviews on the Nokta look like over time and make my decision then.
  7. I haven't seen a video or article yet that advocates for using the auto ground tracking feature on the Manticore. Is manually setting the ground balance an ingrained habit for detectorists because that's always been the way to set up machines in years past, or does the feature not work very well?
  8. Thanks for the reply. I see Nokta has a new one out, but being new it's bit of an unknown.
  9. I have a Minelab Pro-Find 35 pinpointer and really like it, but I think it suffers from thermal management issues and will be sending it in for warranty. I'm sure the replacement will be good, but I'm looking to buy a second pinpointer for a spare and was wondering what a is the best one to get.
  10. You did very well considering others had been hunting there before you.
  11. I had assumed the centre of the coil would be the spot to dig when pinpointing. I went out in the back yard and put down a coin after I had noise cancelled and ground balanced. It pinpoints about 3/4 of the way towards the tip from the back of the coil. Is this normal with the Manticore?
  12. You could try putting a thin piece of paper over the lettering and use a pencil rubbed back and forth on the paper to bring out the letters. It might make them easier to read.
  13. Can't open the link for some reason.
  14. I was out yesterday at the local school yard and was going over an area that has a lot of trash and a few coins. I have been digging trash even when I know it's trash just to confirm what I think I see/interpret on the target trace. A couple of times I would get a high 90's signal but nothing on the 2D screen. The depth would be maxed out. I didn't dig them because I couldn't even guess at what it was so I thought it was likely falsing on iron. I was running All Terrain Low Conductors, sensitivity 24, recovery 6, stabilizer off, stock upper and lower preset, one region all tones and enhanced audio theme. On the 2 times I've been out in this area, the oldest penny I've found here is 1962 (first time out). First time out I used All Terrain General, but I think the Low Conductors is better in this area when I watch the screen. I dug my first quarter and nickle yesterday (clad). Should I have dug the deep signals with no 2D image, or was it likely falsing on iron? I only have 10 hours or so in on the machine so far.
  15. I was hunting a freshwater lake in Sask with black sand a few inches down (along the waters edge). All I found were pennies, but they didn't show up as pennies on the 2D display and the high tone was very sporadic. That lake was my first time out with the machine and I have a lot to learn.
  16. Just watched a video and the guy mentioned that he heard there is another update coming out. Anyone hear anything similar?
  17. I have a White's MXT with the original coil and a 6x9 DD coil. It's in excellent condition and I think I may even have the detector bag also. I'm considering selling it and was wondering what a fair price would be. Thanks in advance.
  18. I think I'll be using ATG next time I go out there and see how it goes.
  19. Thanks. Any idea as to how much depth will be lost?
