  1. Thanks for the replys gentlemen. I appreciate it.
  2. I don't hunt in the water and mainly hunt for coins etc on land and on the odd beach. For those of you who have bought/used the 15" coil, is it worth the price/upgrade over the stock 11" coil? Around here it's something like $450.00, which is a few bucks.
  3. I've heard that comment before. Just how bad is the power button?
  4. Thanks for all the replys gentlemen. I appreciate it.
  5. I'm looking for a new pinpointer and am leaning towards something that is rechargeable. I'm not interested in Bluetooth connectivity for headphones so that can be taken out of the equation.
  6. Judging by the size I would rule out that someone buried one of those Christmas fruit cakes.
  7. Pull your headphones down to you neck when you want to adjust something and then put them back on when you're done.
  8. From the videos I've watched, the MI-4 does have a good sound to it. I really dislike the sound from my Pro Find 35.
  9. I'm blaming it on global warming.🙄
  10. Interesting that it likely applies to current stock and not newly ordered stock.
  11. I agree that there is definitely a lot to learn with this one. I think I'm going to stick to ATG in the dirt and try to get that mode figured out before I try different modes.
  12. I watched a video from another guy and he said with the Manticore putting out more power, you could expect to have more falsing.
  13. Los Alamos called and they want their nuclear physicist back.
  14. @ Chase Goldman No problem with changing the title thread. I was thinking of posting a thread to see if there was some interest in a few members testing their Manticores on some Canadian clad. I would be willing send them some if they wanted to see what digging junk North of the border is like.
  15. Toonie recovery 5 and Toonie recovery 3 (2 pics)
  16. I went out in the back yard, set the ground balance at 0 and the sensitivity at 18 which is when the chatter went away (ATG). I have these coins buried 3 feet away from a 4' tall chain link fence. There is an underground service to my house buried about 10' past the fence. The clad nickle changes depth also with the lowering of the recovery speed. The ID numbers tend to bounce around a fair bit. Recovery 5 and Recovery 3
  17. @ Yatahaze323 What is considered mineralized soil? When I ground balance it here it's usually in the 20-24 range.
  18. It warmed up a little bit so I went out to the test garden and tried changing the recovery speed in ATG to see if there was a difference with buried clad. With the coins buried down about 6 inches, on recovery 3, it was terrible trying to get an idea if there was something under the coil with a few of the coins. With the recovery set at 6, I could get recognizable repeatable signals, even though they weren't on the target line. More testing will be needed, but I definitely won't be running the recovery at lower numbers when I do get out again.
  19. I'll have to try lowering the sensitivity on mine when I get back out in the spring and see how it works in my little test garden. I have been turning the sensitivity up until it gets chatty, and then backing it off until it's quiet. Usually 21-23 where I've hunted. I've always been the "more is better" kind of guy, so I never thought of backing it off a bit.
  20. Please post some details as you find them. I'm next door in Sask and dig the same crappy clad.
  21. @ phrunt If the bigger coil gives you more depth and you can run lower sensitivity for a higher degree of ID accuracy, that is nothing but a win/win situation in my books. Or did I read that wrong?
  22. I watched some videos from different channels and did some air tests with my Manticore. Buried some coins in the back yard and found out Canadian $1 & $2 coins (as well as quarters) behave differently in the dirt. With my limited practical experience with this machine I can predict it's junk that I'm going to dig fairly accurately, but I have to dig it to make sure. I had watched some of TNSS videos because he had been recommended by some other You-tubers. I wouldn't waste my time with that one again.
