  1. I have traced them both to Instagram accounts and trying to get in touch with them to return the ring. It's a lot of work for a silver ring but as we all know, "it's all about the journey"!!!
  2. I dug a unique silver ring on the beach yesterday with the Equinox. I was expecting a quarter and got the ring instead. Doing some research, I determined that it is a Sound Wave ring. More research determined that it was a Spotify Sound Wave ring. If you have the Spotify app on your phone you can go to Search and then go to Scan and scan the ring. The app will open up a playlist of some 10 hours of "Alina and Parker's" favorite songs. And that is just another reason why I love this hobby so much. You learn something every day!!!
  3. Alexandre, By "unmodified" do you mean that I will get the same rod that just failed? If so, will I get a "final resolution" lower rod when it is available? At this point I do not have much confidence in the original one as there have been several failures in the AQs that are out there so far. That being said, I do appreciate your help with getting me a rod that I can get back out on beach. thanks, Joe
  4. Thanks for the offer Tim. I really appreciate but I have my Equinox that I can hunt with. I also have my Whites Dual Scan that I can use if the conditions are right for a PI. Joe
  5. This is an update on the lower shaft that snapped into two pieces on a Sunday morning wet sand hunt on April 25. I list events in a timeline. Sunday April 25 about 10:00 AM the lower shaft broken into two pieces after 30-45 minutes of detecting in the wet beach surf. Monday April 26 in the morning I emailed First Texas with pictures of the broken shaft and received a RA from FT and shipped it back to FT Monday afternoon April 26. I posted a message on the Impulse AQ Facebook page pictures of the broken shaft an received a reply from Russ Balbriona that said “Hello Joe- Russ from Fisher here. Email me russ@frsttx.com. I'll get you taken care of.” I also posted on here at DetectorProspector a post with pictures and received a response from Alexandre that said “Thank you for you feedback. We are ready with the Mechanical Team to understand and solve the problem. A lower rod will be sent to you in exchange, and we are studying the phenomenon. Tests are already carried out internally with high lateral pressure, we will continue in this direction to understand. I contacted the whole team when I san the message today. Thursday April 29 at 10:23 First Texas received the broken shaft which was signed for by someone named Mocosta. Friday April 30 at 3:47 (on the beach detecting with my Equinox) I received a call from First Texas. At 4:05 I received an email from Felix at First Texas that said “We just received your lower tube and is being analyzed by our engineers/quality and will call you on Monday to follow up with you – stay tuned.” And that my voice mail was full. (it did have one 22 second message about my car warranty in it) Monday May 3 I called Felix early as I had an appointment later that day and he said Engineers/quality would decide IF they would replace the shaft under warranty. Today Monday May 10, 16 days after the shaft broke, 15 days after First Texas was made aware of the break with pictures and responded to me, and 12 days after First Texas had the broken shaft in their possession. So the update is “there is no update”.
  6. Here are some more pictures of the break. From what I see, there was salt water intrusion around the pins that were supposed to be sealed in epoxy. I hope that this was an isolated case and not the norm. The broken shaft was received by FT today (April 29) at 10:23 AM. I have yet to receive my replacement, nor have I heard anything more from FT about it. I would have thought that the replacement would have been sent out on Monday also. I was in contact with Russ, Felix and Alexandre all on Monday and nothing since. On a good note, I got gold ring #7 with my Equinox yesterday.
  7. I have sent an e-mail to Felix at FT with these pictures. Hopefully they just send me a new rod ASAP. This is what happens when you hunt wet sand and California surf. Or it could just have been a poor quality made rod. Hoping for that latter as the wet sand California surf is the only place I have to use the Impulse AQ and don't want to have to worry about this again.
  8. I dug another fake Cartier LOVE ring yesterday. Second one dug on this beach. Even though I could not read the hallmark inside the ring (gotta have my cheaters for that) I knew it was just like two others that I dug last year and the year before. I do have one real one though. I dug it last year. All the white gold ones are fake. The gold colored one is real. These are getting to be a little to plentiful. LOL
  9. I got to hunt with KOB two days. There is just this familiarity about him. It was like I had known him for years. And I say that in a good way. LOL
  10. I could see that especially here in So Cal. Thanks, Joe
  11. We will hunt it on your next trip down this way. I enjoyed the hunting that we did get in, even though it wasn't as productive as we would like. And that little surprise at the end of todays hunt caught us both off guard. LOL
  12. I hunted with KOB yesterday and was just telling him about digging a pair of brass knuckles on an old house site. And then today I dig the gold knuckles. You just have to laugh sometimes!!!
  13. Had about an hour to hunt this morning before a Dr appointment and made the most of it. LOL The ring is 14K and weighs 16.3g. It rang up a very loud and solid 11 on the Equinox. You gotta love unique rings!!!
  14. I will add that it is not "mildly" but "wildly" magnetic. It will "jump to a magnet. Who knows why or who made it. Maybe a movie prop. I know that KellyCo sends out "copies" of Reales in some of their "bundles". I may look at that EVAPO-RUST® but doubt that I do anymore with it. I don't dig relics like I once did so it would just be a waste really for me. I also don't have the room for anything else in my apartment. LOL
  15. It is attracted to a magnet so the FE of some sort is confirmed. It does appear to be on the thin side compared to a legit silver dollar but that could be due to the rusting away of the surface. Given the fact that it is obviously iron and so little detail is left, I think that the only value is of conversation at best. LOL I find it fascinating that such odd things can be found at the beach. If someone takes anything to the beach they are liable to lose it there. In this case I am grateful that my ole detecting buddy was more curious than I was and insisted that I check out the rusted disc. Now I have a great conversation piece. 😀 And now those of you who read this post will be thinking about all the odd things that you found and threw away over the years and now are wondering "what if I had cleaned that thing up just a little bit..."
  16. We out a couple of days ago and as usual found something strange. I believe it is a "replica" or "counterfeit" Draped Bust Silver Dollar. When it came out of the surf it was just a rusty disc. I was going to just toss it but my ole hunting buddy talked me into cleaning it up a bit out of curiosity. It is the same diameter as a silver dollar. It only weighs 12.6 grams. It does have a reeded edge. I could make out part of UNITED STATES but the font was larger than a regular silver dollar. It appeared to have a shield with eagle wings on the reverse. I could make out a lady facing to the right. And 17?? for the date. Attached are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Note: not sure why the pictures are upside down and sideway.
  17. I haven't been out much lately due to some uncomfortable tendonitis but I made it down to a beach this afternoon for low tide. The beach was sanded in and I wasn't expecting to much from the Impulse but just needed to "get out" of the house mainly. I had the beach pretty much all to myself with just a couple of surfers and a few walkers. I was running AM and basically default settings and just enjoying the beach. I dug several bottle caps so I knew that finding something good would be a crap shoot. The Impulse was hitting the lobster trap pieces pretty hard and I was getting a double beep on some pieces but not enough. LOL I got a good solid AM hit and switched to Tone mode and got the "doo whop" sound of a coin. I am thinking quarter all the way. Three scoops down and it finally came out of hole of the caving in wet sand. It is the biggest ring I have ever detected. A big boy for a big boy!!! 18.9 g and size 13 1/4. I can wear it on my left thumb. To bad it wasn't a gold class ring but I will take silver any day. I am not sure what the stone is either. But beggars can't be choosers. LOL Thanks for looking!
  18. I have had a lot of different things in a shot glass, I guess it is maybe time for some CLR. Bottoms Up!!!
  19. Thanks! These three tents stakes were sticking straight down and have a more "ring" size footprint than the ones laying horizontal which I can sometimes tell when they are not to deep. Still a learning curve on the nuances on them for sure.
  20. I have used lemon juice and vinegar both on "cents" in the past with good results but this "gold" detecting is new to me so I need to learn the techniques to clean up these more PMs. Thanks for the tip!
