I’ve tried my Manticore several times and finding it a bit frustrating as well. I’ve been using SD, GP and several GPX’s for a long time. I love them and no complaints. I’ve found a lot of gold with them but it’s getting harder to find nuggets in my local areas that are relatively trash free, at least what I can tolerate lol. I know there’s still good gold to be found in the trashy areas so I bought a Manticore hoping it would discriminate well enough to make it tolerable. So far I’m not having much luck. I set up the discrimination pattern and ferrous limits to pretty much give a window of just gold. I tested it over a couple dozen nuggets of various size that I have and they fall into this window. But in the field it’s still getting a ton of steel and other junk. At least usually until I got it out of the hole and the coil sitting right on it then it goes quiet and finally figured out it’s ferrous or out of range. -recovery speed 3 is what seems to work the best. I’m honestly quite disappointed with the depth as well on nuggets. My 5000 with a 12” NF EVO is quite a bit more sensitive in every aspect. Do you have any suggestions or tweaks I can do to help it out?

A year and a half 🤷🏻‍♂️. Turns out my detector was defective, (2100v2) I didn’t know any better lol. I finally found a a nugget with it. It was 1/4 oz and barely made any noise right under the coil.

Do you have a preference on filter setting? 1,2 or 3?

I just got a SP01 from Rob. Anyone have a favorite filter setting (1,2 or 3)or setup? I’m using it on a GPX 4500

I live in Hemet at the moment. I go about anywhere within a few hours usually. Dale most off the time tho.

First gold in about 6 years of a detecting hiatus. Got it in a little wash Condor showed me (I think) 8 years ago. The rains stirred it up a bit and I got one we left behind. Offroad racing is slowing down for me (getting old sucks) and I’ll be out swinging a lot more. I even got one of my little girls interested 😁 I’m in So Cal, anyone else in here around?
