  1. For almost a half century, my family and I have enjoyed your multitude of metal detector models, 1st class Customer Support, and such friendly people who have worked with White’s. But most importantly, the family fun you have allowed millions of people across the globe to experience. Mr White’s, from me personally… to help fulfill my childhood dreams of becoming a Treasure Hunter. You see, our family started enjoying the MD’ing hobby about 1970. Then a couple years later as a young eager 7 yr old skinny kid trying my hardest to push that big blue metal box across a school yard, and from there it all began for me. Now, 40+ yrs later as an accomplished MD’erist and multi line dealer, pushing the same MD’ing passion onto as many folks as I come across, I can only wish you a fun filled and well deserved farewell. No reason for me to try and figure out the mistakes made, when how and or why? As it won’t change me, the person you have already helped mold and or the career path I took. I personally don’t care who did or didn’t do something at a certain time as we all only live 1 life on this mother earth and I feel the overall history of White’s has done a remarkable job. I do know this is this fact. There are many thousands of happy families and individuals out there who’ve had the pleasure of enjoying a White’s metal detector for 60+ yrs and to be honest, is an accomplishment most any other family run company would be proud of. Am I bitter? A little since I feel part of me is going away for good. But when I think back of all the friendships made, MD’ing adventures traveled, the countless pictures and memories shared with your detectors in my families hands, a big grin and smile comes across my face and I just chuckle a little at what you have made of me. Many people know, but my family knows best, I built my life around the MD’ing hobby and 30 yrs ago turned it into the most enjoyable thrilling job and career a treasure hunter could ever dream of. Again, All I can say is a big Thanks for a lifetime of fun and dreams fulfilled. Here is a salute to you White’s Electronics for all the great memories.
  2. https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/12929-important-announcement-from-whites-electronics/ Important Information from White's Electronics June 18, 2020 To our valued White's Dealers- This is a very difficult message to write, but the time has come for retirement from White's Electronics. We are suspending manufacturing operations at our Sweet Home facility while we re-evaluate the future of the company. It is never easy to make these decisions, however, we are faced with the reality of intense competition in the industry and ongoing counterfeit instruments coming from China. Lastly, there have been critical material shortages since the Covid 19 shutdown that we now find insurmountable. All of us here in Sweet Home are grateful for your service. We consider each you part of the White's extended family. Sincerely, Ken White American Made Metal Detectors since 1950
  3. Another forum member was wondering what the price of the new Goldmaster 24K might be in Australia. In the course of researching that, I see Goldsearch Australia is closing down. Does White’s have any other dealers in Australia?
  4. There is a thread about this over on Dankowski. After having some muck slung at me by someone over there, who, among other things accused Fisher and me of palming a “Prototype” off on the public.
  5. This is odd. I just tripped over this clicking on the FT logo at the bottom of the Fisher Labs website. It looks new, but has a 2013 copyright date on it, and has models listed for sale that are now longer current. https://detecting.com/store/index.php/ It is basically a First Texas online store, with all three brands listed - Bounty Hunter, Fisher, and Teknetics
  6. Just corresponded with him a few months ago. He passed away two days ago. A great man, many of us will miss. https://rip.ie/death-notice/desmond-des-dunne-ballincollig-cork/425931

  8. I spoke to Todd at the factory today, since I have a GMT there for repairs. They will still do repairs for the next 2 weeks; then, if you have a detector that needs repairs you will have to send it to: White’s East Service Center Centreville Electronics 9437 Main Street Manassas, VA 20110 (888) 645-0202 (703) 367-7999 Fax: (703) 367-0868 bobnpaul@centrevilleelectronics.net www.centrevilleelectronics.net I would still call the factory first, just to be safe! Best wishes to all! snakejim
  9. Sad to see a couple older forums closing. The excuse tends to be social media but this forums rapid growth says there is more to it than that. In any case, MyTreasureSpot is closing by the end of the month. And Treasure Depot sometime in June.
  10. Both the Fisher website and Teknetics website have been down for at least two days now.
  11. The Nokta/Makro AU Gold Finder is on sale currently at at least one dealer for $499.00 with two coils. The 56 kHz AU Gold Finder is a retro knobs style detector somewhat reminiscent of the Gold Bug 2 but with more advanced discrimination features. In what has become a rarity it can be hip or chest mounted, making it feather weight on the arm, and suitable for deep wading in water, especially with the water resistant control box. I'm not sure if this is a clearance price or what, but for $499 with two coils this is a good deal for anyone interested in a full warranty VLF nugget machine at a great price, especially if you like old style knobs. There is nothing over 40 kHz priced even close to this. I had one of these around for some time. It is a very capable machine, but when I did a house cleaning of my detectors a couple years ago I gave it to my brother, who still has it. As an FYI all Gold Racer coils are compatible with the AU Gold Finder, so there is quite a coil selection if your count aftermarket. Just be aware that Gold Racer cables are shorter and so not as suitable for the hip mount feature. AU Gold Finder More Information AU Gold Finder Straight Shaft Modification

  14. XP Deus is asking for one to do a survey with the possibility of winning a MI 6 Pinpointer. The survey isn’t long so take the time and you may be a winner Chuck
  15. I just got an email about a Garrett survey, aside from what the type of hunting is done, you are also asked what are the qualities you would like in a detector and coil types. It seems what they want the opinion of future buyers. https://garrett.com/metal-detector-survey
  16. The Mayor of El Paso issued a shutdown order of all “non-essential” businesses. First Texas Products - “FTP” (Fisher, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter) is in El Paso. A letter issued by the President of FTP, Tom Walsh. So it looks like the factory will continue activities for industrial and security products, but the Treasere/Hobby lines will not be open. Working from home, administrative and customer service functions will continue. Interestingly enough FTP has a lot of experience with working remotely. Their two most senior marketing folks as well as their chief engineer work primarialy from their respective homes in Colorado, Wisconsin and Oregon.
  17. How many have received their invitation "via email" to the newMinelab Competition? According to the email it will be based through Facebook and other social media sites.
  18. I have decided to go full bore persuing my passion for gold and Writing. July 1 I will be my last day at my full time job. I have decided to go up to my favorite spot in the mountains of Montana and persue detecting for gold, working on my third book, starting the fourth book which I will be writing at same time as third book. I will be up on the mountain for 4 months camping at the spot I will be hunting. I will be keeping a daily journal of everything that takes place in this 4 month period. This is the fourth book which will be called A Quest For Gold. It will be an account of the 4 month long do or die, make it or brake it gold hunting adventure. My goal is two grams a day or two oz. a month. This amount will equal my wages from my full time job. My job has become the equivalent of a cancerous tumor sucking the life out of me and my wife and I talked about it. I don't want any regrets at the end of my life or when I can't get out to hunt any more down the road. I will be filming everything that takes place and I will be uploading it to YouTube videos documenting the entire 4 month adventure I will also be doing videos on detecting & geology in mountainous regions with a heavy emphasis on detecting gold skarnes there. I will be pursuing promoting the book, and I will have cell service up there, so I will be able to get orders filled for The Nugget Shooter's Field Guide as they come in. I will give weekly updates on here for the gold I find. I will be giving gold detecting & geology field training up there, so if anyone is interested, email me or call me. My contact info is on my website on contact page. Price will be $250 for a 5 hour course. There will be alot to learn so it will be worth every penny. Any comments, go ahead and ask.
  19. To Whom It May Concern . I’ve been around maybe as long as you been making detectors . I purchase my first detector from you White’s back in 1966 . At that time you were selling BFO detectors and discrimination was unknown at that time. That was okay with me being I was young and strong. Oh that detector made me the treasure hunter I wanted to be and before I stepped up to the next White’s detector that one had paid for it’s self . Yes it had paid for it’s self more times than I can remember. I sorry as we get older we start to ramble. My last detector I purchase from White’s was the MX Sport. For over a year it got more air time than I’ve ever had. This was from one problem and then another. I have to say White’s was always willing to correct any problem. The Sport has a weight problem like lots of detectors that’s waterproof in the past . Now that’s all okay in the past but it don’t work today . It’s so many companies offering products that run circles around anything you have on the market . It’s going to be a sad day when the very best detector is coming from another country. The trouble is that’s the case right now. I want to say my next detector will be a White’s but I don’t believe that to be true. I don’t need to tell you what you need to be producing because all you need is look around you. It’s as plain as the nose on your face on what it’s going to take to make White’s great again. I thank you for hearing me out and I hope my letter will not fall on deaf ears . Your Truly Chuck Anders

  21. Not sure how long this has been going on, but I just tried to go to the Tesoro website at http://www.tesoro.com/ and got this message... That means all my database links to their owners manuals are now broken, so will have to update those to alternatives, assuming this is the end of their website.
  22. Lots of us are waiting for this coming Friday because a detector company as said we’lI see their new product. I told myself when I got out of the service I’d never stand in line waiting again. Here I find myself doing just what I said I wasn’t going to do. My differences is I’m not looking forward to Friday but to a date that I don’t even know when that will be . I’m talking about Nokta/Makro that we entered a contest for a name of a detector we know nothing about. Not one word has been said about it but like the one coming Friday with lots of hopes that everyone wants in a detector . Dilek my lady I hope it won’t be too long before we find out if this detector fits the name. I say this in the way I did because the name was pick first. I’d like to post all what’s wanted in this detector but the list would go on for ever . Dilek It’s a great pleasure for us that you take time to come talk with us when so many detector reps.don’t . The Best Always To You! Chuck
  23. I just received an email from White's Electronics advising dealers that they will reopen on Monday May 11 with regular hours and full staff. Whoo hoo! HH Jim
  24. Just got an email about this. https://www.minersden.com.au/theminelabshow Facebook on Thursday night Oz time. Might be an interesting watch.
