  1. Like it, similar to the Garrett AT & Makro Racer shaft/handle. Take a look at the Minelab Xterra 705. The shaft angles down with a 2 1/2 to 3 inch offset, the control unit handle sets at the top of the offset. Just move the upper joint connection below the end of the offset.
  2. I followed up on the above topic on the forum’s Detector Comparisons section with “Legend Modes vs Equinox Modes”. The post is related to the Legend’s four detection modes being optimized for depth compared to the Equinox 800 four modes & eight profiles. Give the post a read and see if it makes any sense. Obviously, we won’t know the answers until the Legend manual is available and is field tested.
  3. Ten years ago... that was about the time Santa left a little note attached to a sewing kit in my Christmas stocking. As I recall the note said: "Please use this little gift from the North Pole to sew up the top of your stocking, you ain't going to need it any time soon." Sincerely, we mean it. S. Claus Like I typed, I am still using that Xterra 705 from Christmas past and it was a second hand demo at the time of delivery. Have a Merri Christmas
  4. This is a written portion of the Nokta Makro online video release of the “Legend’ in November 2021. This is only a paraphrased portion of the presentation in areas of interest and/or question(s) to myself. The presenter’s voice was near the upper limit of my hearing. Many of the words and/or phrases could not be heard clearly during the actual presentation (??). Take a close listen to the original release and verify for yourself. At this time, I do not own a simultaneous multi frequency detector. …starting somewhere after the start the presentation as comments begin to focus on the detector: Now let’s talk about the Legend’s technology. The Legend is a true simultaneous multi frequency machine, meaning multi frequencies running at the same time giving the user the advantage of covering a broad range of targets on all types of terrain, field, park, salt water, beaches, etc. at great depth. Now the Legend uses a different multi frequency for park, field and a different one for beach. Now for the beach it also has two different multi frequencies wet and dry; and wet to be used in salt water or wet (?salt?) beach sand specifically without sacrificing depth for even small gold. The Legend also has four modes, park, field, beach, goldfield all optimized for maximum depth. However, we detectorists all know depth is not the only determining factor for a good performing detector. This condition (? trashy site?) is as crucial as if not more as (?than?) depth especially for those who have trashy sites. Now the Legend has a scale of zero to sixty and gives accurate ID at depth. In addition to showing ID on the screen and providing audio response for target separation the Legend also has a very new feature ferrocheck for identifying modern trash. The presentation continues on…to the battery placement, pricing, questions, etc. Hopefully the Legend instruction manual will be online within a few days which may answer more specific questions regarding the detector, detecting modes, mode frequency ranges, custom user profiles, recovery speed adjustments, goldfield mode, battery placement, etc..
  5. I haven’t been in the market for a new detector for some time now. The VLF detectors hanging around here all have a fixed preset unknown “recovery speed” and only one detector has the option of changing out one coil with another of different frequency. Imagine my surprised when I read up on “Simultaneous Multi-Frequency”. After learning more about it, what really jumped out to me was the ability to adjust the “recovery speed” and the impact it had on target separation and search depth. Better yet “adjustable recovery speed” was now married to “preset unknown range of simultaneous multi-frequencies”. Could it get any better? What if we woke up Christmas morning to discover somebody wrote a few algorithms allowing us the pick and adjust for a known range simultaneous multi-frequencies (low, mid, high) to go along with our adjustable recovery speeds. We could design your own detecting search modes based on the ground conditions and targets we were actually detecting that moment. Maybe the cat is out of the bag but not in our Christmas Stocking yet.
  6. This is what I came away with after listening to the November Nokta Makro presentation/release video of “The Legend” SMF detector: The NM Legend uses a different multi frequency (SMF-true simultaneous multi frequency) for detecting search modes “Park”, “Field” and two different multi frequency for both dry & wet in “ Beach” mode. With the beach/wet SMF covering salt water & wet salt beach sand without sacrificing depth for even small gold. I did not hear was a specific reference to SMF in the “Goldfield” mode. The Legend has four (4) modes “Park”, “Field”, “Beach” and “ Goldfield” all optimized for depth. For dealing with target separation on trashy sites the Legend has an ID scale of 1 to 60, gives accurate ID at depth, provides an audio response for target separation, and “ferrocheck” for identifying modern trash. From the specifications The Legend has four (4) custom user profiles; and though it is not indicated I think you can adjust the “recovery speed” for any of the four (4) custom user profiles. I gather from the ML Equinox 800 Instruction manual that the Equinox provides four (4) detecting search modes: Park, Field, Beach, Gold; eight (8) profiles with two (2) pairs per search mode: Park 1, Park 2, Field 1, Field 2, Beach 1, Beach 2, Gold 1, Gold 2; and one custom user profile side button. Park 1, Field 1, Beach 1 & Beach 2 utilize a “lower multi frequency range” at a “lower recovery speed”. Park 2, Field 2, Gold 1 & Gold 2 utilize a “ higher multi frequency range at a “ higher recovery speed”. My understand is that increases in “recovery speed” increases target separation while reducing Target ID at depth and reducing search depth. With decreases in “recovery speed” reduces target separation while increasing Target ID at depth and increasing search depth. I do not currently have a multi frequency detector. Is it correct to think that saving the Legend’s four (4) custom user profiles to address “target separation” on trashy or highly mineralized sites may get to where the ML Equinox 800 starts. Or is there a work around?
  7. Hello Thank you for your interest in our new model and thank you for your pre order. We are beginning to ship the goods this week. XP dealers in USA should receive the DEUS II metal detectors in the beginning of January." Best regards L'Equipe XP / XP Team XPLORER 8 rue du développement - ZI de VIC F-31320 Castanet Tolosan – France
  8. Per a member on another forum: XP Metal Detectors contact this morning: Thank you for your interest in the XP Deus II and your pre-order, shipments beginning; expect US deliveries in January 2022. We’ll see.
  9. The character in the red & black plaid shirt is Shannon Pope of the American Mining Rights Association. ARMA has a website with more videos and information.
  10. On review of the Legend November video: there is mention of Target ID stability at depth; the battery was relocated to the Control unit. The battery offered with the upgrade package with the 6” coil is now a backup battery which apparently mounts under rod between the Control unit and arm cuff.
  11. From the Legend release video back in November, I believe the battery was moved back into the hand grip. May be wrong but worth examining.
  12. Target ID stability on the new NM Legend will be something to watch for during field testing. My understanding is the NM Legend is using the same straight rod/control handle design as the NM Simplex. Per the specs both have similar weight and overall length. For you current and past Simplex MD owner, how is the ergonomics of the NM Simplex?
  13. The latest from Nokta Makro on “The Legend”. Expect to see the the online manual towards the end of next week around the December 24th and the field testers may be released from their NDA’s around the same time. Followed by a week of promotion prior to shipment to retailers.
  14. Any detector gold prospectors or coin shooters on this forum require a 9x5 elliptical DD coil with tip and edge sensitivity for those tight areas like rock cervices for the Nokta Makro Legend? The 6” round works in narrow dry washes for monsoon flood gold. But I need a 9 x 5 for hillside prospecting in slightly deeper deposits.
  15. Any member interest in a future release of a SP24 waterproof DD 9.5” x 5” elliptical search coil the soon to be shipped Nokta Makro “The Legend” SMF metal detector? A 6” round, 11” round (stock) & 13.5” coils are currently offered.
  16. THE LEGEND SHIPPING UPDATE! 12/15/21 FROM NOKTA MAKRO #TheLegend #Update #NoktaMakro Nokta Makro is fine tuning the a “Legend” based on requests from field testers; shipping may be in late December or January; English version of manual may be available online next Friday.
  17. Break1 Check Out “THEDIGGERBOB” on YouTube. Ten years ago he upload two videos on the White TDI SL: quick introduction & tips and help. Both on mineralized ground.
  18. Air tested a 2.7 gram 14k gold ring both flat & on edge. The “target” gold ring was in the “low” target conductivity range yielding a “high” audio tone. To start set your “gain” at the mid point, “ pulse delay” to 10, ground balance dead on with no offsets, fine tune the “threshold” to a steady clean hum. Now head for the beach flatten the sand then re-ground balance to the black sand. Now with small fine adjustments increase the pulse delay then slowly increase the gain, adjust threshold as needed then re-ground balance. You are listening for a clean signal without or very little pops and cracking. Keep repeating the adjustment sequence in small fine adjustments. Once you are there you can switch the target conductivity to low to get a small increase in depth but you will miss any high conductive silver. Keep in mind the TDI SL is not a VLF detector on milder ground so don’t attempt to offset the ground balance. The depth you get on the beach you have is the depth you get.
  19. Using the Miner John 9x5 TDI folded mono coil on highly mineralized ground. Good tip and edge detecting tight areas. You can’t go wrong with the 10x6 razorback. The White stock 7.5 dual field coil hits gold on mineralized ground. Stay with a Double D coil on mineralized ground & beaches.
  20. 1 out of 4 ain’t bad for someone that feeds a can of sourdough. Perhaps more time is required to get a “Christmas Special Legend SP24 Pro-Pak” together. Nokta Makro did put the big “D” in Detector marketing.
  21. In Goldfield: is it in All Metal with threshold and iron masking? The lights are flickering, the internet will be next!
  22. I have not upgraded to the ML Equinox yet. All my older machines have the “S” configuration but I am also looking for collapsing/telescoping shaft for prospecting. I may interested in your product if I settle on the Equinox 800.
  23. Okay it has been two hours. We don’t want to come across as impatient but our “manual reading” caregiver gets off in fifteen minutes to snowshoe out until after Christmas. By this time tomorrow morning we will all be up to our eyeballs in snowflakes. About that time the electricity will go out along with the communal internet connection. Then we all be sitting in the dark listening to the mice chew the labels off the remaining can goods with nobody to read to us. Your last reply indicates you may still be employed. Good to read, Welcome aboard! If this message does not reach you before the lights go out Nokta Makro can forward their reply along with food stuffs FOB: General Delivery-The Grizzly Valley Detecting Co-Op. Have a Merri Christmas, The GVDCO inpatients
  24. According to prior posts the ML Equinox 800 lower shaft outside diameter has a 20 mm outside dimension (o.d.) at the top insertion into the middle shaft. I measured both the ML Xterra 705 and Garrett AT Pro shafts. The different between the two shafts is that the Xterra offsets 2 /12” downward after the control unit with 16 3/4” upper “S” shaft length; the AT Pro offsets upward 4 3/4” before the control unit with a 21” upper “S” shaft length. Please verify all these dimensions, insertions & offsets for yourself. ML Xterra 705 ( lower shaft inserts into mid shaft, mid shaft inserts into upper “S” shaft) lower shaft top: 19.5 mm o.d. mid shaft bottom: 23.0 mm o.d. (six single bottom adjustment holes) mid shaft top: tapers to:: 19.5 mm o.d. Upper “S” shaft bottom: 23.0 mm o.d. (2 1/2 “ downward offset with one pair of side holes) AT PRO ( lower shaft inserts into mid shaft, upper “S” shaft inserts into mid shaft) lower shaft top: 20.5 mm o.d. mid shaft bottom: 22.5 mm o.d. ( 12 pairs of side adjustment holes) mid shaft top: 22.5 mm o.d. upper “S” shaft bottom: 20.5 mm o.d. ( 4 3/4” upward offset) I don’t know about crossing a Minelab with a Garrett this close to Christmas but what about crossing a Equinox 800 control unit with a XP Deus telescoping shaft? Coal or Coke it makes no difference to Santa.
  25. Does the “True Simultaneous Multi Frequency” operate on all target regions or program modes…park, field, beach & prospect/gold? What is the SMF range or focus in the Prospect/gold mode? When can we expect to see the online Legend “Instruction Manual”? For prospecting in the brush add another vote for a Legend SP24 9x5 DD elliptical coil. Looking forward to the NM Legend field reviews.
