Tom Dankowski’s Settings For The Minelab Manticore
fishersari replied to cjc's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
What does this mean? that recovery speed of 4 gives the best overall responses of what's in the ground? -
Since M8 Is Too Precious To Left Behind...

I think you need to 'lock' the foam onto something.. its still has movement? (i cant think of the right words 😁) which still can damage the cable IMO -

Don't forget to test enhanced also 😁.. it got few advantages compare to normal.. the big one for me is it is much easier to locate target especially when using big coil due to enhanced mode uses target signal strength.. the loudest/stronger tones is always at the center of the coil -
Problem With Telling Good Targets Next To Iron

to be honest I am still learning.. its not I always know or can differentiate masked targets (especially really iffy one) all the time lol... -
Problem With Telling Good Targets Next To Iron

I don't know what the sound was like.. but for me this is the hint to further investigate i.e changing recovery speed if needed, cross check, re-swing on the targets much slower..etc... I didn't depend/use the red line or the traces alone.. its the combination of things if I need to use them.. for me the traces and numbers are supplements to the tones.. always the tones first.. I am still using the old software.. I think the red big number is confusing and clouding the judgement to determine nonferrous/ferrous, masked target.. I always run all metal btw.. -

I am wondering if sensitivity of 27 and recovery of 3 is equal or better/worse than sensitivity of 30 and recovery of 4 as I conclude regarding sensitivity/recovery speed relations to depth (correct me if I'm wrong) the recovery speed have more mmm how to say.. 'impact' than the sensitivity.. 3 to 4 level of sensitivity equates to 1 level drop of recovery speed to achieved same depth on my beach .. of course the lower recovery speed, more skewed the targets and ground responses but its still manageable/understood with proper/much slower coil control/swing. I guess what I'm wondering is what do I gain/lose if I am using 30 sensitivity with all the amplified falsing/ground response etc with the recovery speed of 4 vs sensitivity 25-27 with recovery speed 3. I know you using 30 and recovery speed of 3 which is my dream setting to run if I can.. -
Since M8 Is Too Precious To Left Behind...

yeah... I put it away too (the bolt and washer) in my cabinet.. now I cant find it.. I am pissed at myself -
We want in the ground test~~ we want in the ground test~~~ 😁 Recovery at 3 "Prospecting" audio man... I wish I can run the manticore at this recovery speed for the m11. For now the lowest I can do is 4... when I'm on 3.. the ground/target response is much different for my ears.. cant make sense of it.. with m8 I can run recovery speed of 2/3.. don't know why..

Since M8 Is Too Precious To Left Behind...

Sorry about that..m8 is on the detector now 😁.. I bring both to every hunt.. usually the m8 is on the bag.. need extra lower rod to counter that problem -
Are there any case or cover for the coil? I'm afraid that I will damage the wire that sticking out from the coil due to pressure, squeezed etc.. For now my backpack setup is like this.. Put a foam to cover the cable.. but I still think its not fully covered/not tough/durable enough (actually i don't know the right words lol)

Oh man...second hand store here the prices are within 40% to 75% original price...

First Real Beach Hunt With The Manticore - Impressed!
fishersari replied to Compass's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
All from the Manticore or including the PI? Anyway great first beach hunt man.. seems like you getting along with Manticore well -
no man.. don't buy that bag.. its rubbish.. maybe the little expensive one is much better, tennis bag is good too but I didn't found any that fit the Manticore as a whole yet.. or I'll make custom bag like yours..
-
Did your carry bag has padding inside? I think I'll ask my wife if she want to do it... lol I researched the compound bow bag like @UT Dave and found a bag that almost identical with the Manticore free carry bag 8 dollar .... 😒

Looks Like M8's And M15's Are Starting To Appear

15 dollar for a parking spot.. holly molly -
Cannonball is brittle? it will broken up to small pieces/flaky/rusting away in a few years.. Usually collectors here will put it in cooking oil..
-
Hard to say.. but the coins found around the cannonball was from early 1800 to late 1800
-
Iron ring is a good guess too.. it gives out the same characteristic/tonal like cannonball Found 5 nos of cannonball/shot puts 😁. Left it under a tree.. too heavy to brought back
-
Recovery speed of 6 and no stabilizer for me.. I should take a video for the audio response on all directions and my wording doesnt help much either 😁. its was a cannonball at 4 to 6 inches deep.. Does your 2D screen shows the traces at the same spot as mine for a cannonball?
-
Just a game of guess of 2d screen.. no wrong answer 😁.. Hint : a) Solid dot as the picture at cross check b) Hint of iron on every sweep c) the iron tones become more apparent/stronger when lifting the coil d) Ground mineralizations - idk lol but ground balance was at 12 if that help e) I think most country uses this 'item' on 1700 to 1900 and I'm wondering if the 2D screen paint at the +/- same dot location as ours.. lol Anyway Merry Christmas and Happy Nee Year to all 😄
-
Great idea luis.. Im going to look into this.. as long as it paded and can fit Manticore with m8, m11 and a spare pinpointer I am happy Now the front pocket zipper also broken.. lol
-
Thinking of XP 280 backpack.. but the price for a bag.. maybe I'll wait until I found another 2-3g of gold lol
-
yeah.. along with free profind 35.
-
I ran higher sensitivity usually 23 - 25 because of micro gold jewelry.. on my beach the lowest sensitivity I tested was 21 for ring/coin size targets.. Running higher sensitivity gives better chance for the manticore to 'capture' the fine jewelry/whisper faintish targets on discovery swing.. IMO..
