Maybe not.. For a $12.90 adapter the shipping costs from the US to Australia are unbelievable! This is through metaldetector.com.. I can't find this adapter in Australia.. Maybe a DIY project?

I would contact Tony and see how much to ship from Post Office. Tony can make a cable any length you want, so you can keep that 1/8 jack out of the splash zone. Also highest quality connectors.

Hi ,Has anyone heard if there is going to be another update for the Equinox?

Yes, the next update will be called Deus 2. It will make the Equinox not work as well as it does.

I was using the ORX and X 35 coil i studied 8.4 khz., 10,5khz skipped 11.6---12--12.3 because my pinpointer makes the machine go nuts 15,2khz and 26.khz  turns out the best frequency for all gold ring sis 15.2 khz hands down

Without knowing a particular machine my bet would go for 26khz and higher. That is what most beach and gold hunters would say.  However  most of us at the beach do not get to use, or cannot use single freq do to salt conditions.

There is a lot to be said about stability and sensitivity. That may have different freq. choices. Sounds like your testing is pretty well thought out.

if one wanted to keep using that stock shaft then maybe use some JB weld and fill in them divots so sand can't be stored in there? I'm not sure what the answer would be

I'm not using the factory lower. However, one possibility is taking a little stock off the washer less side and then add a thin rubber fender washer to that end. That may solve the issue. At least you would have rubber on both sides.

o me though, there must be a reason they went to the added expense to provide the single charging cable if there was no issue using the three cable.

51 minutes ago, Chase Goldman said:

There is a practical and necessary reason for providing the single cable.  The single charging/update cable for the WS6 was provided because they wired up the 3-Way USB A cable connector dedicated data pin to the mult-pin DIN connector for the remote (you don't wire in multiple split parallel data lines because you want to avoid people attempting to hook up two devices at once during updates,

Could it be as simple as: The WS6 is a stand alone detector itself and one may only need that cable then?
However, the WS6 and coil would need to be charged separately.

All the phones I listed have NRR ratings. That is known as NRR, noise reduction rating not db rating. 28 NRR is about as high as any phones give. 17 NRR is about the lowest.

I looked ahead of time. Of the three phones you posted I can only tell two of them: dodiddlies, and Serious. Neither of those phones have "NRR" specifications listed in advertisements, nor ambient dB rating.

Here are the only production phones that accept the Ws6 that I know of, are dB rated and state so. -24dB.

I have found what I want for 25 years. I use the Original Black Widows [-28dB rated] with Audiosears [speakers] Connected directly to the detector.

The phones I suggested all have dB ratings and by no means are cheap. One set is rated at 131 dB and that’s pretty damn loud !!!

That is not the decibel rating I am talking about. I am referring to the ability of the headphones to keep out EXTERNAL ambient noise. None of the headphones you listed have that ability.

BTW, a good rating is around -28dB.

SO IMPORTANT, to keep external noise out while beach hunting!

I think Tony Eisenhower makes his wired waterproof headphones with a D2 connector option but I don't have the info to get in touch with him. Maybe one of the other diver/beach hunters can help out with that.

I have my Black widows [speaker change out]  and 4 jumper cables coming from Tony right now. Hope USPS doesn't lose it!
Also, Yes Tony does make waterproof headphones that connect to the Deus 2 and from memory -26dB rated.

I misread that those head phones could be used with the WS6, which would be no good to me as it's stopped working..

To heck with this cheap recharging crap.

I am simply getting a jumper cable made to run my favorite QUALITY headphones.

I am not sure why anyone would buy any of those cheap non-Db rated headphones to put the puck on. [for beach hunting]

I can tell you how many failures I had with my Equinox wireless in 4 years. Zip, Zero, Nada. Because I was connected directly to the pod with a jumper cable!

I was hoping for another silver andI was using Rattlehead’s silver slayer program.

Will have to check with the metal detecting gods to see if you can keep gold while using a silver program. 🤣     NICE find!

I would check with the Gigmaster or he maybe he's the one?

Several years ago, Max's hunting buddy Kenny sent me his Excalibur ll that was having issues. And this was a machine just out of warranty, I guess he used it several times a week and never really took the time to check the coil and shaft's rubber bushing. Both sides were wore out and the shaft clevis had cut into the coil ears, bad. I checked the knob shaft o-rings on it and they were dryrotted..

Like said above, I think it is a matter of maintaining the detector around saltwater and sand.

A coil you can get tight enough not to move does not wear. But run your coil loose and wear will happen.  When your coil is too loose, waves and pressures move it all time, their is your wear issue.

can anyone provide a real world, non-sponsored view on the XP deus 2 and bone phones - mainly for the beach and more importantly for the water/dive.

Dale, there has been lots of reviews and talk out. Below is my testing done in comparison to the Equinox and my overall review for salt hunting.

I will stand by all of my testing that the Equinox and Deus2 are tied at best on a wet salt beach, and if you're running the Equinox in horseshoe mode it gets the nod to identify deep nonferrous targets. I did no diving.

But I did do moving water wave wash testing. The Deus2 was much better with moving salt water than the Equinox. The Equinox is not even close.

Since my reviews, I have purchased a Deus2 with 9" coil to dedicate to moving salt wash. I will not be back on my machines until mid-July. I think if you are going to dedicate the Deus2 to water contact it might be the best choice for the machine. Of course, I do not have a Youtube channel.   Dave

Tomorrow is the day I order my new detector! Im pretty sure it will be the Nokta Legend! But My question is the deus2 Really that much ahead of both the others?

I am guessing you are dirt hunting?

I would not buy the Legend for Salt Water use [yet]

I think the Deus 2 is too expensive to justify for Dirt Hunting.

The Equinox 800 [used] would be my choice. Unless you are going under water there is very little issues with the Equinox out of warranty, the pods and electronics are solid.
The coil choices are fantastic for the Equinox.

I have to say river hunting is pretty tough itself, but hunting in surf has to be brutal. All the things I had to think of, like making sure everything was secured properly,

Yes, one's world really changes when getting hit with forceful 3-4' walls of water. 😁

Good to see your getting dips in!

I can't imagine what a coil this large would feel like on such a light machine. Without a wire I could see it snapping off and flying/floating/sinking away. 🙄

You know, I did not think of that. If it were to happen that both coil ears broke in rough surf......it would be bye bye, because that little antenna wire is not going to hold against water force. Well hopefully the ears are strong enough. I have not heard of any breaking yet. I will be satisfied when Dewcon gets one and nothing breaks after 6 months.  🤣

I remember when paying over $1000 for a metal detector would have been considered insanity, and metal detectors has been a rare electronic technology where prices have been driven higher, mainly due to lack of real competition versus Minelab.

This is where I have issues right now. PRICE! As a consumer of detector products, I am pi$$ed off at XP's venture into telling me they have released a great beach machine.
YET, the main components of this machine are not usable at the beach. Headphones>junk, Detector rod>junk, offset coil>JUNK.

Then XP would like me to pay a premium price for this.  NOT going to happen!

  17. 14 minutes ago, Steve Herschbach said:

I don't worry about that much except on larger coils. It's just lack of coils in general. Ironically Minelab gets beat up for that a lot, and XP usually gets a free pass on the subject. But yeah, why does XP rear mount the coil ears? Makes no sense for anyone to do that that I know of.

Well as a pure beach and water hunter a rear mounted coil gets a "F", from me.
It is too hard to keep level on a slanted beach, and the off center position is impossible to control with wave wash coming by. companies and engineers should take note!
