  1. Sniped from the Manticore specifications ? Bluetooth compatible No 😵 I guess I missed something ? Its not Bluetooth LE -- its something different ?
  2. Doesn't matter what new machine comes out, never giving up the 800 it's like magic, the Mcore / 900 have some really big shoes to fill. You know the story old park hunted for years and years even with club hunts each year. It went up to 60 the other day, I found a total of 4 coins, nothing else left except what the 800 hits. (same place everyone has always hunted)
  3. Although this is a really nice video, it took me along time and a lot of digging to figure this stuff out, I'm not sure if it should all be explained in one video. 😉
  4. I have real sun issues so ear buds of some kind and a wide brim hat is the only way for me to go, when the sun shines. Also so much talk about BlueTooth and its versions. BT 5.3 is one generation short of the newest BT LE. (officially launched over the summer, but no one seems to be using it yet) To add to the confusion the LE "Low Energy" is referenced back to the start of BT 5, so what is unclear is how the new spec will read, maybe just BT 5.3 LE ? this web page explains a lot but doesn't seem to give a clear final answer that I would hope for. for. https://www.renesas.com/us/en/blogs/what-s-new-bluetooth-53-low-energy BT 5.3 has some improvements over past generations (they connect faster, have better sound, better range and stability), but only some are Low Latency (like what would work with the 600 and 800 Noxs), (not Manticore). I have been looking hard for BT LE in a set of ear buds no luck yet. I have found a few that say they have 20ms delay which is twice as fast as APTX LL , but often they also reference an old version of BT so I think its just crap. (not what I would call reliable sites) Sooner or later they will show up.
  5. I was considering this one its Bluetooth 5.3. But I am waiting, hoping some BT LE ear buds show up for sale online in the next couple months.
  6. So, now that some guy have a Manticore, has anyone tried to connect their old ear buds or headphones. My newest headphone connect to my Nox in about 1 second, something is special about that pair. I have a variety, but of course I can't try them, but I know that software can surprise you. I'm asking because my NOX would connect with lots of stuff including my Samsung sound bar, not saying it worked well for detecting, but it did connect.
  7. I think you could test the faint volume with air tests, I always lower iron volume a lot, but still here it, and keep non ferrous higher. I like it better than using discrimination and nulling out a threshold tone on iron.
  8. I just checked the couple I have had for years, you are right, they are to big for the Enox. 🙁 I think I had checked them in my first bounty hunter.
  9. Toilet seat bolts are plastic/nylon long and have nuts you can hand tighten. a couple bucks unless you save that kind of stuff.
  10. current, wind 35 gusts 51 I have to think we are going below 0 tonight temp still dropping
  11. Jumping back to the comparison, the really experienced guy with the deus II and the new Manticore user were basically able to hit the same deep targets. I have pulled deep targets with my Enox in old parks, but very little silver, the silver I did find was on edge in trash and a little deep. I have quite a few old parks to hunt, hoping the M Core reaches some silver.
  12. I'm staring at the thermometer, it says 6.1 f 🥶
  13. I think the 900 will be a perfect machine for everyone that loved their ENox, but wished it was a little better. It makes total sense to buy one if you have coils and a Nox with a lot of hours on it.
  14. I have way agree, but I was thinking a quicker snapshot would have less soil it was reading. You are probably right and maybe lowering RS and or a slow sweep has less variation, as I look back I do usually slow way down just before I decide to dig, if it got worse I wouldn't dig, I guess I wasn't thinking real hard when I made that comment.
  15. I think most of us metal detecting crowd watch our pennies a little to close to be baited into a buy twice scenario. Only if I have no detector and I can hunt would I be tempted. I have a working 800 and my real hunting wont start till April, Saturday's high temp 17f. 🥶
  16. I think this is how they get the extra detection on high conductors.
  17. Hi Strict, I wonder if you up the recovery speed if your ID narrows down to just one or two numbers ? I know lower RS goes deeper but maybe higher will improve the VID ?
  18. With all these numbers I will be finding a gold coin on my first day. 😁 Thanks everyone for adding more info. I should find that scatter chart that was done from Strict's finds.
  19. I know it's a bit early to be looking for coin IDs, but I can't help myself. If you create your own chart or find one, we could insert them here for reference. I have a feeling this will be complicated because different modes seem to shift the scale, and I don't know if its a consistent shift up or down the whole range? I have seen some testing and the wide scale of VID on the Manticore means most coins have have a 2 or 3 number variation for a specific mintage and of course it changes with different series of the coin. The chart below is a start, but where is an indian, compared to a wheat and so on. It would be really nice if someone had some gold coins to test so I have something to dream about.
  20. I don't see iron falsing as an issue, I run with iron volume low and all metal on the nox, I don't see why that won't work on the Manticore. It seems people are tying to make a small annoyance into a giant issue. "If" there is a good target the nox lets me know to dig in spite of the iron. I spent a whole summer digging that marginal jumpy iron and high tone mix with the nox, if I could not pin down the high and or consistent tone (using some different settings) it was not a good target over and over and over. I'm sure the Manticore will take some practice, but I can't wait to do it.
  21. The exact result I was hoping for, when I ordered mine. 😊 Thanks, nice write up.
  22. If I were hunting where there is a carpet of nails I would slow down, try digging a couple of those jumpy signals and then look for better signals and find good stuff. Or try some more techniques as NASA Tom or many others suggested. 😁
  23. More data is better, but there is great info here, that will help me for sure. Thanks for all the work. 🙂
