  1. I am pretty sure I sniped this off of the Minelab site back on January 5th. Recently I have looked everywhere for a reference to "BT anything" on the Manticore, and find nothing. Either its not BT or they are keeping it a secret. Bluetooth is trademarked (I think) I am pretty sure they have to say if they are using it and note it with the correct TM logo ? I know I might be on a island all by myself at the moment, but I've been there before.
  2. I hope you are correct about the BT, but I have found no reference to BT in the Manticore manual and found printed elsewhere that they are not Blue Tooth compatible. I checked the 900 manual no mention and note the missing BT symbols on the control heads. Manual says this below. (I ordered a transmitter already, hope it works well)
  3. X-terra pro 269 + 29 for a BT aptx LL transmitter and I have 4 coils for it and 5 kinds of earbuds/headphones. Anyone want a 705 in great shape with 3 coils?
  4. I have to ask, what is the difference between modes, what changes between park and field? Is there an iron bias in the background that changes? The depth in the test garden is impressive for a machine under 300. It is a big coil, but I am pretty sure my 705 would only give iron sounds at those depths, in all the places I have used it.
  5. I have no worries that the supplied headphone's are good quality, I only rarely used the Nox headphones and they were fine as far as quality (not that I would be a great judge), but I have several pairs of earbuds that work great and weigh about an ounce. I started detecting with my kids with me way back, and always needed be be able to hear them, so I never got used to fully quiet over the ear headphones. And now these days the sun has taken its toll on me, so sun shirts and wide brim hats are always part of the plan. I'm not a fan of sun block on my face. The little transmitter should let me use everything I have.
  6. Is anyone using a BT transmitter on a Manticore (other than a Garret Z lynk) ? I have found some on amazon in the $ 25-30 range, and they look like they should work. I have to wait till I actually have a Manticore before I order, I may have to return something if it doesn't work and would like to avoid that extra time.
  7. If the X-terra Pro "works" well enough its a no-brainer for me I'm keeping my Nox 800 and have 3 coils. Its a perfect machine for someone tagging along on any hunt and you can keep it light with a smaller coil. I'm starting to question my decision of the Manticore over the 900. đŸ˜ĩ
  8. The price is blowing me away. đŸ¤Ē
  9. Looks like selling my X-terra 705 with 3 coils won't cover the cost of a Manticore coil. 🙁
  10. Minelab has enlisted a fleet of ships to get the Manticores here faster, won't be long now.
  11. Hi guys, everything you said, makes the X-terra Pro interesting, I can't wait to see how it works. I will likely sell my 705 soon and maybe get the Pro at some point, still waiting to see a definitive price. (still haven't seen the Manticore boat)
  12. Don't worry I'm sure the Minelab earbuds are just around the corner for all of us that like to wear a hat on those hot sunny days that might be windy. 🙄
  13. As an X-terra and Nox owner, I have some faith that Minelab didn't build a detector without a purpose, so I have to reserve judgment until we see it work. My guess is they found a way it improve the VID at depth over the old X-terras, also guessing the recover speed is really fast. Maybe the VID will be really stable allowing easy cherry picking. Do we know the price for sure ? We all know the perfect guy to test for us 😁
  14. Minelab is not making any friends by delaying the most eager customers and dealers while favoring essentially a big box that for the most part, metal detecting is a grain of salt. It would be nice if Minelab figured this out and threw all of us waiting a bone, maybe a finds pouch or digger or "we're sorry". There are enough close comparisons going on that a Mcore is not the only choice we have. ☚ī¸
  15. I have been watching Cabelas since just after Christmas, I placed MCore in cart quite a few times to test and could have ordered, but was ok waiting. Recently the Auburn Store in NY had at least one in the store. I am pretty sure they came into stock once a week since 12-30 except from about Jan 24 to about Feb 5. They usually stay in stock for a whole day/day and a half least. I have a shortcut search set up just to annoy myself about Minelab's methods.
  16. It appears you adjust the pod location itself instead of the arm cradle. Very interesting.
  17. A couple thoughts, soils and plowing practices, vary so much across the country that comparison may be hard to ever figure out. I think the bigger difference is what he is looking for, and what we can even find. I'm pretty sure I will never dig up a small hammered coin (possible on edge). So would our ordinary civil war bullets, buttons or a large cent not be detected well, in plowed ground ? Judging from some other posts Mcore may not be quite as good on tiny gold, maybe that is carrying over a little to his plowed fields and what they look for. I guess this will all be a wait and see.
  18. It would be interesting to check a quarter at 6 inches with both detectors and back down the sensitivity on both till it looses its ID and then all detection. Maybe the beast is just a little to wild and will do just fine on a shorter leash, maybe sens of 20 is as deep as you want to dig in a park. Maybe IDs really tighten up with with mid range sens and high recovery speed? I don't see anyone really working the settings the way I would.
  19. I stress I have no special or secret evidence or information regarding how the long press works, but my first thought was it picks the best channel to be quiet and also auto adjusts the sensitivity till its quiet. Sorry my brain works this way, it just seems to be the easiest way to achieve quiet operation. I prefer the thought of super advanced tech that eliminates all EMI, and I am hoping for that.
  20. I will wade in just a bit on "depth", for me it should always be said "effective depth" and to me every part of the discussion becomes more clear. I received my NOX 800 went to my backyard and it could not hit my 6 inch buried dime, neither could my Ex 705. EMI is severe in my backyard everywhere close to home EMI was an issue, but I sure was finding a lot good stuff with my 800 that I didn't seem to find with the 705. I headed to dad's farm, (no EMI) placed a clad quarter in really clean ground at about 10 inches, both detectors hit it faintly (800 had some jumpy ID), 705 no number but faint tone, I would have dug both signals. You can't leave target separation out of the effective depth discussion, better separation also give you more effective depth. IMO Seems simple to me (based on my use) the Nox 800 has better effective depth (including coins on edge) because it does better with EMI and separation, than the Ex705 in most situations. At Dad's farm in clean ground they were surprisingly close. I'm confident with everything I've see and read that the M-core will have additional effective depth over the Nox, especially for me where EMI the limiting factor in most locations, not to mention the other detector upgrades. Just my few cents on EMI / depth
  21. Maybe the trickle has started up again, with a little luck they have enough parts to get some to my guy. 🙂
  22. My Nox will only rest some of the time. I still can't see the boat anywhere? I put my order in just before the 900 was announced, I had more than one chance at Cabela's, but figured I could wait and wait.
  23. Hello Longbow, I know I will set up the Manticore with 5 tones, I have a lot of time in with my 800 using both 5 and 50 tones, but 5 tones is always more effective for me. I can hunt fast with 5 tones and then slow down and watch numbers and tone to check the target. I have to go much slower with 50 tones, to me the change in tone always sounds significant even when numbers are close, so nothing sounds good. (unless its very solid on a vid and Manticore has more VIDs to jump around on) I am betting you have better luck with customized 5 tones with adjusted volumes.
  24. While the newest BT is the best version and it was supposed to be universal to benefit everyone, it appears (I'm still guessing a bit) a company can use the new BT technology and apply their proprietary software so we have to buy their stuff. I'm annoyed, if I have to buy their stuff, where are ML BT earbuds that last 8 hr. There is the work around with a Low Latency BT transmitter and I see one in my future.
  25. So many unknowns, I would just guess, start slow and re-evaluate every 15 minutes till something feels right. Probably not much help, but no matter what you plan you have to be willing to adjust for how the detector is performing.
