  1. I used Velcro, and fasten it right to my pod cover. It works with all the APT LL earbuds phones that I use with the nox 800. I also have the same Velcro on my Xterra Pro so it covers both detectors. So far the battery has always out lasted the Manticore.
  2. I hunted for six hours today with my Mcore, I don't think anyone is going to pay more than the current price. I am trying so hard to find the fun part of hunting with it, the only thing that makes me smile is the how compact it is when I take it somewhere. I did dig a rosi today, but I had no idea I was digging a dime or silver, ID was from the 60s to low 80s. I was looking for a wheaty.
  3. Thanks for the update, in many ways my Manticore seems to have the same issues as you describe for your 900s. I'm slowly adjusting, but I'm really hoping for another software update. You said it best when you started this thread, did you find stuff yes, was it fun NO. My tone break for high tone is in the low 50s because a good target can bounce from 80s to 50s at 4 inches. Much less fun.
  4. If I was to speculate, Minelab rushed the release of Manticore's announcement, barely managed to finish their software (changed to proprietary headphones after orders had be placed), had not planned ahead for accessory coil manufacture and had not created specs for different size coils, or of course any kind of testing. Finally shipping began, but Minelab was not sure enough to contract coil manufacture (might be significant software change), minor software change did happen, so lets work out specs, wait for the first shipment of coils, test the first shipment, and finally pull the trigger to fully manufacture. Yep, that seems like a year and half is actually making good time. 🙄
  5. Not that I am recommending it, but the price seems to have come down quite a bit.
  6. I hope it at least works enough so that it is not labeled "junk" otherwise the whole Minelab name takes a another hit. Maybe they made a lot of money on the Go Find series ? I guess we wait and see, I will say my X pro exceeds its price in features and performance, now on Amazon for 259.
  7. I'll stand by my first post, when I ordered the Manticore it was simply BT headphones, not Minelab only headphones. It is sad that there appears to be no fix on the way for BT exclusive users. Lets hope the price takes into account the dissatisfaction that has been expressed by so many buyers of their latest detectors.
  8. Its unfortunate that your button is showing wear already, there are some covers for about $ 25 that work pretty well, mine seems to have a little extra reflection, the only down side. It seems to have happened fast on your Manti, I wonder if the control pad is the same as the old noxs.
  9. Hi Chase, my comment about the M8 not looking light is about how heavy it looks to be constructed as compared to the thinner web construction of the M11. I'm sure it is a little lighter than the M11, but other manufactures coils look to be built lighter. Both the amount of plastic and type used for the frame and the high density epoxy type filler that holds the wire coils seem to be the heaviest choices possible. I'm not sure how you clay is for trash, but our grass seems to be the dumping ground for junk for the last 100 yrs, I often can't find a clean place to ground balance. Not sure if that make up for the hard clay. 🙂 I did manage to find a couple rings last couple times out, (only an inch or two under the grass) I guess the black one is pretty popular these days and are more expensive than I thought they would be, the other last supper is 18K,
  10. I'm all about weight, the M8 doesn't look very light, so if there was an M9 or M6 oval, that was lighter than the M8 I would buy that before the M8. I spend most all my time in grass so the coils I have, all seem like they are built twice as heavy as I need.
  11. COST, I think they owe one to everyone that paid 1600 for a Manticore !!! I have been using a BT transmitter since day one and I am still ticked off about it.
  12. Thanks, I have been working is this direction, but with the original software. My ground balance numbers never run very high, like always less than 20, but maybe my ground in general is worse that I was thinking. I know my parks generally have plenty of square nails from little short ones to 3 inchers, a couple of those close together can give an irresistible signal and now and then its a deep silver, so I always leave the parks with quite a few square nails if I am looking to be deeper than all that came before me. I know those guys and they were really good at detecting 30 years ago. (boy do they have some stories of the old days)
  13. I'm listening intently, my target ID spread is almost always + 10 and - 10 so a 62 average will almost always hit low 50s and low 70s I have often dug good targets with larger spread. I ran the update for a while and switched back to original which seemed a bit better/deeper. But now I am ready to try the update again after I have gained more experience and have evolved my settings that I need to try. I am pretty sure I have never dug an 8 inch penny, dime, or nickel with sensitivity less than 20. Maybe I just haven't crossed good targets when at lower sensitivity and need to give it more time running less than 20 to help with the wide target ID spread. Thanks Jeff, your insight is giving me some hope that I still just need a little more patience.
  14. I guess I should have looked them up before answering. I can't offer an opinion, maybe someone on the equinox forum is using them.
  15. Unless Grey Ghost just came out with new headphones licensed from Minelab, I'm pretty sure they won't connect.
  16. I saw a pro find 40 in use in a video by Iffy signals, looked to operate the same as my 35, I didn't need to see more.
  17. look on this forum for a VID cheat sheet of both good and bad targets ID#s. Carry it with you, knowing that you will still dig trash, but it will help you skip some common trash signals, especially if you are in a park.
  18. Nox coils will work on the X pro, I have a nox with 3 coils they all work on the pro. I don't know the price comparison, maybe you will save money waiting for the X pro coils ?
  19. I am also a little surprised that you are having an issue, I have dug a few old bottle caps, but I dug them just to confirm they were junk. Maybe you have a specific kind in your area that sound good ? I usually run AT-fast or ATLC, I have learned the hard way that you have to be careful how high you push the sens in my parks.
  20. I was making that exact adjustment today attempting to remove the iron grunts from a good target, iron grunts stayed. I do have a lot of nails so maybe there is some contamination. Or maybe shifting the ground balance up/down would clear it up.
  21. Some might find this helpful or want to give it a try. Another 3+ hr this morning old park, original software. I had hoped to just learn by trial and error of what worked best, but its time to take a more serious approach. One good outcome today was, while digging iron worried it might be a good target I didn't find any good targets. Flip side was I was fooled more than a couple times and came out with bolt(s), steel ring, and square nail(s) all at the edge of detection depth. Most "possible good" targets tested in each AT search mode with adjusting GB and recover speed to get best result. Yes that is a huge pain ground balancing (generally the whole site is less than 8, finding clean ground and shifting it up and down to see if it helped with IDs) over and over while you change settings. Noise canceling was easier not much EMI and I was only pushing sens to 25 or so. Park has a lot of nails so as expected ATHC had some issues, but I would note that most all targets had comparatively higher IDs With ATHC than with other modes. the biggest issue is it "stops" you every other swing and then you don't end up digging. ATLC was the "easy" mode to use, easy and effective, but it didn't "stop" me the way fast was working. To my surprise AT Fast, had the most consistent IDs and provided IDs where the other modes left the screen blank. I realized this late in the hunt when I had some really faint targets, deep wheats (hitting from 40s to 80) and a small button at about 8 inches (60 to 90s) only AT fast was giving me IDs recovery speed 3. I am really going to work at testing fast mode more, I presumed that it would not be as deep, for todays hunt it seemed to be the best. AT general and AT trash reject seemed to not do as well as Fast and Low Conductors. I would note also similar to the Nox high recover speed will trigger EMI (which might be different depending the the source) issues forcing less sensitivity and hurting depth in two ways.
  22. My question is what else is changed, because something IS different even with stabilizer 0 and filter off, the MC was not keeping up with the X-pro after the update. I would find a marginal target with the MC and the X-pro hit it with no effort, first swing. With some luck I will get a few hour in tomorrow with the old software and hopefully feel a little better about the MC. I will keep trying to back down the sensitivity, but I always run quiet and backing down under 20 has not been very productive.
  23. I'm going to need to start enjoying using the M-Core a whole lot more before any more money is spent.
  24. I am amazed with the different results we seem to have with the update, at first I felt it was better with more stable IDs while air testing. But it all went bad for me in practical use. I tried all sorts of combinations (including set to 0 and turned off) both on my hunted old yard area as well as 120 yr old park. I understand what the stabilizer and filter are supposed to do and could hear it, but I seemed to not have any finds any more, the one exception was 3 wheats stacked together 6 inches deep, it was the only thing I dug more than 4 inches and my arrows were consistently at 4 arrows and sometimes 5. I found myself digging 2-3 inch dimes that I thought would be 7 or 8 inches. I switched back and could hit my 6 inch coins in the yard again and dug a couple more. I would note that the RED numbers stayed after rolling back. I noticed that in the video comparing the old and new software, its filled with iron grunts on shallow targets.
