  1. Awesome find! The date makes it. I know I won't find anything like that at my beaches!
  2. I would have guessed nickel or twisted/partial pull tab. So....I guess you made out good even though it fooled you initially!
  3. What you posted is for within state parks only. I came across that also but it doesn't pertain to the rest of Maryland. Our state parks are mostly "No detecting" here in Fl.
  4. Evidently mine still hasn't turned on???? I have no idea. 🤔
  5. I'm NOT biting if they do! At least I don't think I will. Maybe not....🤔 😆
  6. Ha! Cool story. I'll take an H button over a pull tab any day. Ten acres? You're gonna be there a while! 😄
  7. I googled it up and couldn't find anything that says you can't detect the 31 miles of Maryland's Atlantic ocean beach. I bet it's a great place to detect since it's so crowded in the summer. Go at night with a headlamp to avoid the crowds.
  8. Say it ain't so, Simon! NO...NO...NO! 😢
  9. I don't hunt in areas that have high noise, but that's good to know for those that do. 👍
  10. In my teen years growing up over there I did just that and had a ball! Not so interesting to me now days, metal detecting is more my speed.....😄.
  11. I hear ya buddy! I'm detecting stuff so small at the beach with the 11" that I can't find it. Keeps falling through the scoop holes, so I narrow the target down to a small handful of sand out of my scoop and I still can't find it. Time to start carrying a pinpointer I guess, but if it's that small, it's not the jewelry I'm looking for anyway.
  12. White powder sugar sand from Clearwater down to Sarasota. I lived on the east coast in Cocoa and New Smyrna and that sand is more of the tan to brown variety. Much heavier surf on the Atlantic side to deal with if you detect the water. I much prefer the gulf beaches. Nice calm clear water. Most trips I can be in chest deep water and still be able to count my toes. I'm spoiled. 🙂
  13. Yea....most beaches are already cleaned out by other hunters over the winter with no new drops until the water warms up. Definitely a seasonal thing. I still go knowing that I'm not going to find much just to swing the detector. Gotta scratch the itch.
  14. I had a stainless scoop on a wooden shovel handle for years. Finally caved in and bought a CKG titanium with one piece carbon fiber handle for just over $300 about a year ago. I see now the price has creeped up a little to $245 for the scoop and around $85 for the handle so $330 for both.....still cheaper than an Extreme by a long shot. I hunt sandy beaches with no stones. Scoop looks good as new after a year of hunting 1-2 times a week 6 hours or so per hunt. I should have pulled the trigger years ago....what a difference in weight. Get the one piece handle unless the travel two piece is absolutely necessary. One piece will always be stronger. I would shy away from the cheaper Dune scoops. A guy I watch on youtube had stress fractures on his after only a short time. Here's the link....CKG Scoops
  15. Looks like you found the right spot John! Cool that the Mrs. lets you hunt instead of sight-seeing all the time.
  16. I can see why you may be hesitant or fearful of leaks on the Manti after your experience with the other detectors. I've been dunking mine every week now for 14 months with no problems. Not aware of any owners on the 2 forums I read having a leak yet.
  17. You're gonna love it. Don't be afraid to try Prospecting Audio.....something totally different than tones.
  18. Whoever thinks metal detecting wouldn't be any fun for them needs to check out this thread and then re-think it.😄 Wish all the beaches were like yours!
  19. Here ya go Tom....Steve's Detector Rods
  20. That place looks like it would swallow you up quicker than a burger at my dog's nose.
  21. This looks like it...Link There are some real fancy expensive ones made with 3 nails if you google it up. Nice find. 👍
