  1. If you’re finding silver you are really close to the gold. Most of the stuff I’ve found is on the wet part of the slope during low tides. I used to hunt the dry sand when I started the hobby. After a while I found out the dry sand gets hit pretty hard where I’m at so your chances are slim to find anything good. If you are new to the hobby I recommend doing some Google search, there’s a lot of great info out there. I spent lots of hours doing research, watching videos and going to the beach before I started getting some decent results. I am still rather new to the hobby so I have a lot more to learn. Good luck out there.
  2. This is from my last 3 hunts. There was a little wave action but barely any sand movement at the places I went to. Regardless, I was lucky enough to have found a little yellow. Thanks for looking and good luck out there.
  3. I guess I’m not the only one with broken headphones. My broke last week and they don’t charge or light up while charging. It’s weird since they worked for 3 hunts. Is the repair center sending you a new pair or are they going to try to fix yours?
  4. I’m trying to make up for last years mediocre gold count of 3. I didn’t get out enough since life was beating me down, but I’m in full swing now. I wish I could have hunted more but I can’t hear the speaker well due to my years in the service. I'm sure you will be back to digging some amazing gold soon enough. There’s no way I can top that 22k chain and gold coin so I should be the jealous one. Watching your finds and the finds of others motivates me to get out there 😎Good luck on the next one. I wish I was the one taking all the gold. I went out yesterday and the only keepers I found were a silver dime and a brass thimble. Last year there was one person I know of who found 10+ gold in one day. Every time he hunts he does 8hrs+ during summer. This hunt was done with the Manticore and so far I’ve found more gold with it than I thought. I need to do some cleaning and will update here with the pictures. HH
  5. I have only done 4 beach hunts with the Manticore and while I’ve done decent I still prefer the Equinox. I’ve tried using the ID map but I honestly I don’t trust it so I go more by the sounds and numbers. The detector feels light and easy to swing. I like the rubberized portion on the front of the grip. The equinox didn’t have this and it made it really slippery when it got wet so I had to put some of the baseball bat tape on it. I hate the fact that you need to run the back light really high to see it during the day time, I have mine set around 80%. The first time I ran the detector I hated it, but once I got home I started thinking about the problem. I remembered I wasn’t running it in all metal so the audio wasn’t to my liking. After switching it to all metal things are much better now. Just like a few others have mention I’m not a fan of the expanded TID. Overall I like the detector but I don’t know if it’s worth the money or if it’s even that much better than the Equinox, only time will tell. Yesterday I went out for hunt and my headphones wouldn’t turn on. I had to do the hunt using the back speaker and it was a PITA. I got home and tried charging the headphones using different cables and adapters but nothing works, even the charging light doesn’t come on. I can only run the headphones if I plug them with the cable provided. The TID’s for the 3 rings on the last hunt, starting from the left are 11/12, 52 and 22. The pictures are not in the right order. The middle one is my first time out and the top one is my second time. The third time out I didn’t get anything good since it was way too sanded in.
  6. Thanks. I’m hoping this hunt is a good sign of what’s to come. HH I’ve stopped hunting your beach because you don’t even leave me crumbs now 😢. I even got the Manticore and still nada 🥴 Good luck on your next outing.
  7. I got out today for a 3.5hr hunt. The hunt didn’t start all that great since my headphones wouldn’t power up. I had to hunt using the speaker and that was a PITA with wave action. The plated ring is the first one I found and it fooled me for split second. The next ring was the one with the hearts. I wasn’t expecting anything else in that area so I decided to move to a different area. I’m glad I did since my second target was the middle gold ring. A couple minutes later and few feet away I found the nugget ring. I gridded that area for another hour but didn’t find any other rings/jewelry so I called it a day. Good luck out there.
  8. I found this ring a couple of hunts ago and it looked plated but for some reason I decided to keep it with a pile of junkers. Yesterday it caught my eye so I decided to clean it and I’m glad I did since it turned out be gold. Sometimes you to give those iffy rings a second and maybe even a third look, you just never know. The other finds are from my last hunt just a couple of days ago. Once again I didn’t think much about the two rings. But after the lesson I just learned I decided to clean them up. I’m having a great month/year (25 gold rings to date). Thanks for looking and good luck out there.
  9. Thanks. I enjoy reading your epic GPX hunts. Good luck on your next outing. I put it there intentionality and you’re the only one that caught it. I was only able to hunt with it a couple hours yesterday since had some errands to run. Unfortunately I didn’t get any gold but did find lots of clad. I will probably post something in the Manticore section tomorrow.
  10. Those were just some lucky/freak hunts I had, now I’m back to my usual clad and thrash. Congrats on the silver and may your coil go over some gold next time.
  11. That’s a chunky one at 7.8g. Congrats on another awesome hunt.
  12. I like the two top crosses/crucifix. I found those two on the second day within the first 30 minutes 🙏🏼. That day I hunted for 7.5 hrs and was sort of bummed that I hadn’t found any rings. The last two hours is when I pull the rings and that put the icing on the cake. Thank you all for stopping by and wish you the best out there. HH
  13. I was lucky enough to find some spots that were ready and willing to give up the goods. The rows are in order of the day hunted, starting from the top. The silver is from left to right by day. I wish I could have gone consecutive days but work got in the way. I had a great time and the equinox did not missed a beat after the coil ear repair. I was able to break a few personal records. My best gold ring count in a hunt was 3 and I managed 7 the first big storm hunt. Who needs a stinky Manticore. Thanks for looking and good luck out there.
  14. I would gladly pay $12.50 for that ring. I once paid $15 for parking and not only did I not find anything, I also got a $60+ ticket because it was already past sunset 🥴. I will never again pay parking at that beach. Congrats on the gold and good luck on your next outing.
  15. Amazing hunts. That’s a lot of digging but it paid off big time. I few more storms and hunts and you will have those 300 gold pieces in no time, provided your limbs don’t fall off from all that work. Good luck on the next one.
  16. I doubt they will warranty it but I’ll give it a try and see what happens. I need to check the little blob when I get a chance, been busy trying to find more gold at the beach. Thanks for the info. It would be a nice bonus if it’s a nugget. Conditions have been quite decent at some Socal beaches. I just got back from my fifth hunt for the year and got some more yellow. Maybe I’ll see you out there when you come down. There’s a few more decent waves heading our way this week so hopefully you will get to fill your pouch with some yellow. Good luck It’s unfortunate but I’m not too bothered by it. I glued the ears back on already and also installed some ear stiffeners with some homemade washers. I’ve taken it out on 4 more hunts and everything is golden 😎 Thanks Compass. I’m a junkie and needed my gold fix badly so I did whatever I could to make it happen. It was awkward swinging it since the coil was off-center but I was able to finish my hunt. HH
  17. After finding my first gold ring my coil ears decided to call it quits. I guess it’s to be expected after having the 800 for 4 years (2000+ hrs hunting) and kicking it to knock off the sand that gets stuck to it. I wasn’t about to quit so I rigged up a bungee cord to it and hunted for 3+hrs to finish my day. I ended up with 10 rings, 5 junk, 2 silver. Of the remaining 3, one is 10k, other 14k and the last one Platinum with diamond chips. I also found what looks to be a melted gold tooth ( last item at the very bottom by the gold rings). Life knock me out for a little over a year and I’m barely recouping. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
  18. I don’t have to read anything that I have read plenty of times. The only way I can barely run the detector with minimal falsing is with presets. Out off the 30+ detectors out there there’s only a handful that work as they should but nobody discusses this because it’s taboo. Have a nice day.
  19. Setting up the AQ isn’t hard if you have owned a PI before. The only thing I have found different compared to the other two PI is that you have to go slower. Due to the power it’s more sensitive to changes in speed and coil control, at least that’s what I think, but I may be wrong. The rest of of the knowledge you brought up about reading the beach and knowing when and where to go is what truly matters. I don’t care how great your machine is or how perfectly you set it up. If the beach is sanded you will only find thrash more often then not.
  20. Thanks MN. Hopefully I can clean that beach up when the next storm hits. HH
