  1. That’s one spectacular 18k combo. The only 18k chain with a pendant I have found doesn’t even weigh 2.5 grams 😅
  2. Nice sparkler. I bet this one is way better than what the one seagull found 👍🏼
  3. Rick, FT fixed the potentiometer problem like they were supposed to. I did an air test and it seems to be working properly to me since I can pick up a nickel better than when I sent it in. I still need to do the coil pinch test at full sensitivity to try and narrow whatever problem there is, if there really is one. I will keep everyone posted as I go a long and report my findings.
  4. I’m located in Southern California. I was the one who had problems with the sensitivity potentiometer and FT took care of it nicely. FT said it was a bad potentiometer from the supplier. I hope the problem I’m experiencing now is another bad part from a supplier.
  5. Looks like some fanny’s got hurt. The funny thing is that I wasn’t born here so my reading comprehension and writing skills should be lower than others. Let me explain it a little simpler. wet sand = noisy damp sand = noisy moving water = noisy but I don’t have to hunt this area so I’ll survive I did another hunt like I said I would and the detector performed better but only in the wet and damp sand. The settings I ran were. delay at 10 sensitivity at 4 ATS at 8 I used all metal and tones and the falsing was a lot less. I won’t hunt the moving water because it’s imposible but I can live with that. I just wished the other settings worked out off the water like they are supposed to, oh well. Steve, congrats on your AQ working in fresh water 👍
  6. I don’t see why there would be need for a debate. The experts who know how to properly use a pulse have wrote/voiced the proper way to run the AQ. I obviously wasn’t running it properly with the low settings available with the machine. I’m no expert so any tips/info I have received here I will be implementing out there and hope that I can get that much better at hunting with the AQ.
  7. There is going to be an 8” coil plus covers for both. The only way the 8” coil will help is if people don’t try to run the sensitivity much higher to try and compensate for the depth loss. On a side note the experts have spoken and looks like the consensus is that half of the settings on the AQ are just for show. If you want a smooth running AQ you need something like. Sensitivity 6 or less ATS 8 or more ( The lower your ats the deeper it goes. The higher your ats you can get away with a little faster swing speed.) Delay no less than 10 Volume/threshold to suit your hearing. Rejection-adjust to your liking or with a piece of rusted nail.
  8. That’s not a fatty but an obese ring, just look at that weight. Congrats on another amazing gold OBN.
  9. Thanks Compass. I hope I can find more gold with it but I think I need to find a place where nobody hunts in order to do so. HH I set all the knobs to the marked presets and just hunted the wet/damp sand and still made noise. The only way it wouldn’t make noisy is if I slowed down my swing speed to 3-4 seconds, so for gridding a small area it’s ideal. I’m sure it will still false in rushing water no matter what setting but I’ll find out after tomorrow’s hunt. If I hunted with the pod underwater it would probably run quieter but with the waves here I would never get the target out. I am still learning this machine and have a long way to go. My TDI SL and Garrett ATX always had a smooth threshold. I ran the ATX with no ground balance to get more depth and never had problems. I will be increasing the delay next time out using all metal/tones and report back.
  10. Before I stuck gold. Today was the day I was finally able to get out after getting the AQ back from FT. This was my fourth time getting out and a total of 12hrs before I could get the monkey off my back. It was an early morning low tide hunt but well worth it. I hunted all metal for a while and then tones. I was going from the wet till about knee deep. The AQ was noisy (during each swing) in both settings, running 7-8uS. Even adjusting ATS, swing speed and keeping the coil leveled didn’t help much. I ran sensitivity from 4-6 trying to keep it quiet. I hope to get out again tomorrow to a different beach and see how it performs. I got two silver rings, one junk and an unmarked small gold ring with real diamond chips. Good luck out there and happy hunting.
  11. Nice looking silver ring. I wonder if the Tarsacci would have done better with that can, I heard you can adjust them to ignore coke 🤔
  12. Congrats on the nice streak and hope you can keep it going 🤞
  13. cjc explained this trick in his “pulse hunting basics and the impulse AQ” OBN- congrats to your friend on finding gold on his first outing.
  14. Congrats on the AQ gold Cuda. I barely got mine back and hopefully I can pop it’s gold cherry soon. Hope your next gold comes sooner and bigger. HH
  15. Wow Compass, I’m hurting all over just thinking about digging all that. Congrats on all the gold and the hard to find chains. I’m sure you will find them more often now. Good luck out there , stay safe and hydrated.
  16. Yes it does, specially when not many people are going to the beach and there’s no sand movement to find the older stuff. HH
  17. Well, I ordered the parts from out off the country and got my EBL batteries (set of 😎 on the 28th. I amazed on how quickly I got them 😳 now I just need the box and a detector to connect them to 🤔
  18. Thanks a lot. I really hope more come my way, even without diamonds I will happily take them 😎 HH
  19. Congrats on the great hunts Compass. That 21k ring is a beauty, is it a spinner?
  20. The ring looks much nicer than what it really is, at least that’s why I think. The center is not a big diamond but a cluster of 9 small diamonds in three different sizes. Don’t get me wrong, I still like it since it’s made of the metal us beach hunters go cuckoo for 👍 Thanks compass. The ring weighs 4.77 grams and it’s about a size 5.5 so it’s chunky for sure. Hope your rake nets you another chain your next time out.
  21. That’s a lot of digging and coinage. I used to get at least $3 in change every time I went out but now I can’t even break a dollar unless I venture into the dry. Hope there’s gold in your scoop on the next outing, HH.
  22. But luckily a gold one, 14k. I got up today for an early low tide hunt. I got to the beach at 1am and started my hunt with a buddy. An hour plus into the hunt and all we had was just aluminum and a couple of pennies even though we were covering from the mid upper slope to the waters edge of a negative tide. Since things weren’t looking good I decided to just cover a 10 foot wide section crossing between the damp and wet sand. About and hour later I dug this 14k beauty with real diamonds. I gridded that area and found nothing else in that section. The rest of the hunt was uneventful but my mission was accomplished so I was happy. Thanks for reading and good luck out there.
  23. I like your setup Steve, so I put my order for the batteries and box. I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping the AQ gets back to me before the parts 🥴
  24. Another nice looking battery OBN. You keep making them smaller, it probably won’t be long before you make one the size of an Apple Watch and lasts 12hrs 🤔
