  1. Gerry, Well, right now i am looking mainly at a detector from the Gold Nugget point of view. I have the GM V-sat with 3 coils now. Mainly what i was wanting was something NEW. I am a horse trader and the buying, trading, dealing is what i like. But the X-terra looks like a good one. I have one locally that i can get for $250 but not certain i really want to .
  2. Thanks Gerry for the info. I watched your video a while back on You Tube. Good vid.
  3. Is one of these any better than the other for nugget hunting or are they about the same? How do they stack up compared to the GMT? Any input appreciated as always. Thanks
  4. Jin, Mine made a loud squealing sound when turned on at first too. Do what the manual says for start up step by step. With the coil in the air set the GEB course and fine to midway set the Iron ID to the center Iron ID OFF position Set the Mode toggle to the right SAT position Set the Vari-SAT to OFF Set the threshold fully counterclockwise Now turn the GAIN control to 10 Now turn the threshold 4-5 revolutions clockwise until you get a soft hum. This should quiet it down. Hope it helps. And thanks Steve for the info
  5. Those who have used both the new Whites GMT and the older Goldmaster V-sat, are there any real differences in performance for nugget hunting? I know the GMT had a digital screen but that seems to be just a distraction some times. When i have a screen i seem to spend more time looking at it trying to decide if i should dig or not instead of Just digging. The GMT had a smaller, lighter control box but that is not an issue. So what, if any are the real differences/ Reason i ask is i just picked up a decent V-sat for $110 to use. Also, what is you coil of choice for the Goldmaster series. Thanks
  6. Yep, i have my creviceing stuff with me in the backpack and try to pull out everything. Thanks for the tip though
  7. The S. Umpqua and Cow Creek are where i am looking. Man, i could cast some bullets from that haul. lol Thanks guys.
  8. I plan on staying with it Fred. I want to see that First piece of shiny Yellow. Someday it is bound to happen. I hope. lol
  9. In my ongoing Quest for that First Elusive nugget i took the TDI SL with a Miner John 5"x9" coil and went to a local gold producing river today. Sorry to say still No Nugget but i got enough fishing lead to cast a few bullets. Some of these were Really small split shot and bird shot so i know i am doing something right. Just got to find a piece of Yellow stuff to put the coil over.
  10. So not a good choice for nugget hunting huh? Ohh well, for $42 with shipping still not a Bad buy. lol
  11. I just came across this thread and really enjoyed it. I am in Roseburg and have often thought about trying the beach mining. Maybe we can get together some time and you can give me some tips. Good hunting and take care.
  12. Nobody has used one of these coils yet? If you have, what do you think of it? How does it compare to the Miner John 8.5"x11"? Any insight appreciated.
  13. Anyone familiar with this coil for the Whites TDI's? I just ordered one from Whites. They have them for sale right now for $35 + shipping so for that price i figured i would try one. If you want one better get it while they last.
  14. Looks like you had a great trip and ran into some nice folks. Congrats.
  15. Glad you had a good trip Tom. Thanks for the video and history. Rod
  16. Ok, i kinda am looking to get one sooner than that. But i will keep it in mind. Thanks
  17. Does it have the charger with it? And how much you want for it?
  18. I will check it out. Thanks again. Wish i could just find some 1.8v AA's to use in the standard pack though. Sure would be easier. lol
  19. Thanks for the reply. Yea, i saw the ones on E-bay but i figured buying some AA's to use would be less than the $140 they want for the battery packs. Could you post a pic of how you modified yours to take the 4 18650's?
  20. Anyone know of any 1.8V AA rechargeable batteries with a high mah for sale? Trying to find something hotter to use in my TDI SL. Or how to go about using 4 of the Panosonic 18650 3.7v 3400mah batteries in the 8 battery box? Still waiting for Whites to have an upgrade available.
