  1. Well, I got my RMA # and have the pod on it's way to Minelab, I'll track it to see what the turn around is these days.
  2. The first time out, I didn't have that on mine, it sank like the Titanic. I went straight home and put some on the back part of the shaft, works like a charm.
  3. This was the first time in water for this machine. It was bought April 2020 and was used maybe 5-6 times before it hit the calm fresh water lake. Total time in waist to chest deep water maybe 4 hours before she took on water. It was cloudy and maybe 85 when I hit the water with it.
  4. I decided to take the Nox out for another dip since it was compromised anyway. It ran flawless until about 2 hours in when it started chirping and acting erratic. ct first I thought it was emi, buy, I knew the writing was on the wall lol. Got home and fired the machine up, totally unstable and then it starting making a constant squeal then up pops a ER message and it shut down. I did this 3-4 times until it displayed the no coil message and shut down. So, I took a picture of it, took off the shaft and have it boxed and ready to go as soon as I get the RMA#
  5. Got in the water today for about 3 hours, did okay with a couple of James Avery medallion and a fancy silver ring. I was wading chest deep, so the Nox may have went down 4' max. Got home and unloaded everything and noticed my screen was foggy, upon closer inspection I could see water behind the screen. I bought this machine because my first 800's warranty expired, this one is a little over a year old. This makes #4 that I've had problems with, 1st was a power button problem, 2nd was a battery(charging issue), 3rd machine took on water and now another leaker. I'm headed for a vacation this coming week and will be staying on the water for a few days. I'm glad I bought a Simplex as a backup, looks like I'm gonna need it. I'll run it til it dies and then contact Minelab
  6. There's a pair on Findmall classifieds for $50, the ad said new in box.
  7. I use Aukey B-80 earbuds. APTX Low Latency, about 6 hour run time, ended up buying 2 pairs so I could hunt longer. I like the sound quality and the volume. I cannot wear over the ear phones in the summer here in central Texas.
  8. There's nothing to changing out the battery. Just be careful when you take it in and out of the cylinder that you don't damage the o-ring.
  9. There is a labor charge on the battery replacement, I do know that because Martha did mention it. As far as shipping goes, I assume the customer will pay both ways. I would only be guessing if I said anything about the shipping on the pod. I will mention that Martha was completely unaware of the situation with the Coiltek coil delays.
  10. UPDATE.....If you buy an out of warranty replacement pod, it will carry a 3-year warranty. If you buy the refurbished unit, it will carry a one year warranty. The batteries are $30 and can be purchased through either the repair center or your dealer. You do not have to send in the old battery, but she did recommend that the repair center do the replacement. It wasn't required, only recommended. You cannot buy a replacement pod without sending in a defective unit.
  11. I broke down and ordered mine from the UK off of E-bay, should be here in a couple of weeks. My dealer said it could be a long time before he can fill all of his orders, I didn't want to wait until after summer to get one.
  12. No problem, it was a spur of the moment call, I actually didn't expect to get a hold of anybody. I will post more info when it becomes available.
  13. I was a little pressed for time because I was getting ready to walk into work, I also wanted to talk to her about a replacement battery as well. If and when she called me back, I'll try to get a price on the 600 pod, the price of a battery and if we can buy the Pod out right.
  14. I spoke with Martha at Minelab this morning. The reason I called is, my machine is out of warranty and has been replaced three times since I bought it. I wanted to know how much it was going to cost to replace the pod and if the replacement was going to have a warranty. She told me it would cost $350 for a new replacement, or $225 for a refurbished unit. What she meant by refurbished, if someone returned a whole detector because of a faulty coil, shaft etc, they would send out that control pod if there are any available. I am still waiting to hear back from her on the amount of warranty that will come with the replacement pod. She wanted to double check on the amount of time before she gave me an answer. I have her permission to share this information on the internet forums.
  15. I ended up buying a Zagg Invisibi-Shield screen protector for a Kindle Fire($5) on Ebay, cut it to fit the entire screen and buttons and eliminated the cover altogether. The Zagg will last for a year or two. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Zagg-InvisibleShield-for-Amazon-Kindle-Fire-Screen/331711478756
  16. Do you have a protective housing cover on it? First summer I ran the 800, the screen turned completely black. After that I didn't use a full control housing cover on it. I haven't had it do it since.
  17. That didn't leave me a message either but they sent me a text within an hour.
  18. I just got a call and a text from Fisher. They stated that I was next in line for the Impulse. I'm in the process of moving further from the Gulf of Mexico, so I told him I was going to pass. Next guy in line should be getting a call in the next day or two.
  19. I took the Coilek out for the first time this morning to the spot at the lake I've been hunting for the last 14 months. I will say, I was a little concerned because of the first couple of reviews about the coil. I had to remind myself that soil conditions, settings, modes and time on the machine decide how well a coil will perform, not test gardens, no offense to anyone. I set the Nox up as follows..... Park 1 Recovery speed - 3 Iron Bias F2-0 GB-0, I did a manual GB and it GB'd at 4, so I decided to run it at 0 Sen. 23, EMI isn't factor out here until I get closer to the main entrance. 2-Tones Tone break set at -2 , no disc Iron tone set at 3, volume at 3 as well. I have bursitis, so I hooked up my bungy, I use Doc's Swingy Thingy and started swinging away. I started hitting the usual stuff, pull tabs, bottle caps, etc. I focused on the low conductive numbers just to see if the 15" coil would hit the small stuff like the 11" coil. After the first 2 hours I was pretty satisfied with the coils ability to hit some pretty small stuff, on par with 11" The soil here is very mild, I'm not so sure it would perform as well with the small stuff if the soil was pretty hot, but here, it nailed some smaller targets with no problem. All the items in the picture came in at 10 or below. The target that sealed the deal for me was the brass bead, the one on the stud of the earring, about the size of a BB. It was hitting small pieces of foil in the 1-2 VDI range with no problem. Both of the earrings hit at 10, about 3" deep. It will hit coins on edge with no problem, I dug 2 zinc's standing straight up and down. The numbers appear to match the 11", I didn't see any noticeable difference between either coil's IDing. I will be taking the coil to an old park tomorrow that I was able to hit some 8-9" wheats and silver with the CTX and the Nox with the 11" coil, last year. I quit hitting the spot when the finds completely dried up. EMI is an issue because I'm surrounded by power lines on 2 sides, I will post my finds, or lack of, tomorrow evening. I've used Coiltek coils on the Explorer and Etrac and was satisfied with the performance, that's why I jumped on board as fast as I did. If you have a question about the coil, let me know, I'll try to answer it.
  20. Thank you, I was very surprised to get a shipping confirmation. I got on the preoder list yesterday, the dealer received 2 coils today and was able to ship it today.
  21. Just got an e-mail and talked to the dealer to confirm that it has shipped....should have it by Monday. Track Your Shipment: This shipment includes the following items: Item # Description Qty Coiltek Equinox 15" Search Coil 1
  22. Thanks guys, they certainly like a step up from the ML80's.
