  1. Thanks for sharing Belgy! I never mind sharing settings I'm reluctant to share spots though LOL but I remember being part of the DFX only Forum on fine Mall and that machine was so quirky you needed to share as many settings as you could to get it to work at Optimum levels . I found a lot of great stuff with it but I'll tell you one thing the Equinox is much easier and I'm finding more stuff ? Have a great day and weekend.
  2. Great job! Man I yearn to find some gold nuggets or ore like that someday. I'll just add it to my bucket list and make sure I check it off one of these days ?
  3. but man it sure was nice to dig in the dirt and talk to people in the neighborhood that I was detecting. It was all so really nice to find my first Indian Head pennies in a while that were in great shape and I got to keep ? I detected with my Equinox 600 for a while and then switched over to my AT Pro with a small coil. The Minelab didn't miss much but it did miss the very unique pin. If anybody has any information on it it would be really cool. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
  4. Thanks Jackpine! I plan on going out tomorrow to look for more ?
  5. I had a chance to detect an area that I was eyeing for a while but wanted to make sure it was public and knocked on a couple doors and all was well I found a coin on edge at 6 in and also my second Seated dime this year with the equinox. I also found 3 Old nickels that I have to clean up. When I was leaving I went over to check out a coin that I saw laying on top of the ground I thought maybe somebody was throwing pennies out since I had found a few modern Pennies on top of the ground and I'm closer inspection I realized it was a Buffalo Head Nickel :-)Life is good I hope you all get out soon and find some treasure.
  6. Thanks guys, here are some of the buttons on display that I traded to my buddy Donnie for decoys he carves. We would just give each other stuff but it's fun to trade LOL. I also included the Eagle plate in the top left of the second picture that I wish I had in the display. I sold it at a time I was being pressed to get a second job. At the same time I would rather detect in my spare time so I sold it to purchase books for college.
  7. All of them but the 2 shoe buckles in the bottom right, my buddy Donnie dug and gave me them for the collection, I trade finds with him for decoys he carves and we sometimes trade finds for finds.
  8. Thanks and my pleasure! Now I have to save for a trip to visit them in Denmark and find some Viking gold.
  9. I bought my nephews from Denmark detectors a few years ago but they haven't had a lot of luck most likely due to the fact that I wasn't there to teach them how to use them. I took them out on the lawn and they had a blast finding my wheaties, old nickles, a few rough indian heads, and assorted relics. The only downside is now they have unrealistic expectations of how many fines are actually in the ground ?
  10. Thanks again Happa and I love taking pictures of what I find and finding it so I'm sure you'll see plenty more! I too like just going for certain signals such as the 12s and 20s and above with the Equinox but when they become absent the 14s-19s can be interesting ? I'm lucky to live in an area that has seen activity for hundreds of years so it is often worth it for me to check out the repeatable vdi's that don't change by more than 1 number. I'm always hoping for gold but I've only found 1 gold ring in a memorial stash and I actually left it there because I believe somebody had buried it with a lot of other trinkets in memory of someone. I also got a weird feeling that I should leave it be ? I'm still hoping for that gold coin though and when gold prices go up I start to think of that golden Ruby class ring that was in the stash/cache ?
  11. I hit an old sports field that had produced old coins for some of the veteran treasure hunters before me but uunfortunatelymost of it had been covered with fill so I hit the woods where people had camped in the late 1800s. It has been a while since I found a coin there but luckily I was and was reminded of the old dump while walking the creek. I found the spoon on the bank next to an old piece of tin fashioned into a plate.
  12. Way to go! I haven't found gold yet but I'm sure it will happen soon ?
  13. Thanks a bunch Happa! I am bringing it and 3 other detectors over to a friend's house later today to detect the lawn with his kids so hopefully I'll have more finds to share tonight ?
  14. Here is a picture of the Buckle I found in it's display case. It is always nice to dig up some history and be able to share it with others.
  15. I hear you there mark my goal was to purchase an F75 with DST and find a whites idx pro for a decent price since I always loved the classic whites detectors but now I'm all set since the 80 Pro my buddy gave me has the small coil and the equinox just seems to clean up the coins in Parks and now I know it works great in the woods and in fields too. I just feel bad my Troy Shadow X5 doesn't get used much anymore Thanks Andy and nice to meet you too!
  16. Steve I I'm grateful that I got back into detecting when I did at a time when you can get such a great detector at a reasonable price and then on top of that there was a military discount. Even better was the fact that a month before I bought the Equinox A friend gave me his old AT Pro, which is an amazing Detector by itself especially in Iron infested Cellar hole sites. I too don't ever see myself needing another metal detector.
  17. I have been wanting to hit a few spots where I grew up that have been pounded with assorted detectors. I only found one piece of silver there and hunted it close to a dozen times over the years. Today I found 2 silver dimes in areas I know I hit heavily. It is so nice to go back and find several older coins at a site that was "hunted out" with my other detectors. I also spent some time testing the results of a higher sensitivity setting based on the great feedback here. Higher sensitivity settings negatively impacted depth and stability at a few areas that had alot of mineralization and old iron in the ground. Settings of 18-21 worked just fine and a recovery speed of 2 seemed ideal.
