  1. Thanks everyone for the replies and comments. I don't know the history of how it came to be but just another reason why I love detecting so much, the thrill of the hunt and the find, the research before and after, and the great people you interact with. Have a great week everyone.
  2. I had the opportunity do work with my union today and afterwards a buddy had asked me to help him detect a rental property that was having its foundation repaired. I got to use my new at pro for the first time that a buddy had given me today. The site was loaded with iron because they had to take the house and move it off the foundation but that detector with a small coil sure sniffed out some goodies. This was a pretty neat find, it looks like it's stamped backwards or reverse.
  3. A few finds from a plowed field that I have permission to detect in Mass. I was lucky to find that they were late in planting it. The little button was really cool.
  4. Thanks so much Steve for the info and reading suggestions. I have the gold bug ? These books look like they will get me on my way to finding more. I actually had a DFX so I will be able to relate to that book as well. Have a great weekend!
  5. Thanks Mike for replying on this. I checked my gold wedding band on my Fisher F 22 and it did hit above pull tabs but I was digging everything as not to lose smaller gold. I am a cellar hole hunter so I dig every good signal in jewelry mode but I suppose I have may to change what numbers I dig. I have found some rings by digging everything at old home sites as seen in the left middle of the pic but I have less detecting time now and want to optimize it.Thanks for reminding me to check what #s gold comes up as most often.
  6. I was never much for finding modern coins or hunting newer ballfields but I think my mindset has changed after taking a break from detecting for several years. I sure like finding relics, buttons, and an occasional coin hunting in the woods but 1 or 2 brass buttons in several hours, while really exciting, doesn't buy cofee or cause my wife to encourage me to go out and detect more ? I hit a local soccer field with only an hour till dark and found a few bucks and my first jewelry in a while.
  7. I think I found one gold ring ever and I usually release my fish unless it is a batch of porgies. If I bring home some gold I bet my wife will tell me to go fishing more ?
  8. Holy smokes that is awesome! You sure inspire me! Now I'll have to bring my metal detector to the beach when I go fishing or better yet I'll have to bring my fishing rods when I go metal detecting LOL
  9. Fabulous article Mike and eexactly what I was looking for! I am new here and thanks to all who have been helpful and welcoming. I also feel like I'm new to detecting after taking a long break to pursue fly fishing. Here is a question that I posted in another forum and I was going to post here as a topic, but will post either way to introduce myself and show what is on my mind now.
  10. I am excited for mine as well since alot of spots I hit through the years were hit by land hunters and I believe many water spots are undetected ?
  11. Really nice display case and I like the way you set the one up!
  12. I am excited as well. I haven't had a new one since my DFX was traded for a Shadow X5 over 10 years ago. I am giddy about the Equinox 600 I ordered Friday from Kellyco.
  13. Nice token. I will have to try out some of the old swimming holes in my kneck of the woods now that I have a waterproof detector on the way.
