  1. Thanks guys. I have a Nox already and mostly beach hunt. Nox goes pretty deep and of course has target ID and great separation. I've been reading up on the Excal and the CZ21 for some time...and have seen the great finds of OBN (excal) and Casper-2 (CZ) on another forum. Both detectors can run in all metal PP mode and run deep. I'm leaning towards the CZ more due to cost and because I've read that it can sometimes hit targets the Excal doesn't. A test between some guys in Jersey with CZs and OBN with his Excal showed that. I'm sure the opposite also happens. I know a PI like the TDIBH would go deeper than both but it can't discriminate. I'd love a Fisher Manta but don't know if I want to spend that kind of loot nor do any of us know when it's going to be released. I'm not getting rid of the Nox but want something reasonably priced that can punch deeper.
  2. I'll give it a try. I know Beach 1 can make quite the racket in heavy black sand and if you think one of the tones sounds like a target, you can check it in PP mode to see if it's a real target or just noise. The problem with PP mode is that it often comes on soft the first time you hit the button and sometimes it doesn't come on at all and you have to go back to search mode and then hit PP again.
  3. Beach hunting in PP mode? You sure your friend's not messing with you?
  4. Thanks in regards to the ORX. Does pinpoint mode work like on the Nox, where it just stops working if you forget it on and continue searching after digging up a find, or is it like the Excal where you can just search in PP mode and when you find something, you can switch it back to disc mode and see if it's a ferrous or nonferrous target? In regards to the Deus, I noticed in the video posted that he was able to locate a target in non motion audio disc but the target didn't register when he switched over to gold mode. That's why I'm wondering if the Deus hits deeper in non motion audio disc than in motion modes.
  5. So how deep does the Deus hit, say a dime, in non motion audio disc? Also, does the ORX have non motion audio disc?

  7. First part's about building the scoop. The second part is where it gets good.
  8. I wanted a cheaper PI to try and punch a little deeper than my Nox...which detects a 3.5 gram gold ring at 12 inches in the wet sand of Jones Beach (though ID is off but doesn't false as iron). Going to give the 15" coil a shot. At the very least it will help me cover more ground per swing. I'm going to save my ducats for a Fisher AQ...if it turns out to be all that and a bag of chips. How deep does your SH Mark 2 go BTW? It's one of the PIs I was looking at.
  9. No lol. I have a Nox 800 and am pondering if I should get the 15" coil for more depth or spring for a new TDI Dual Field. I'd like to get a TDI BH but it's out of my budget right now.
  10. Which do you think will hit deeper on wet sand? I'd prefer a TDIBH over a DF but I'm budget limited.
  11. Oh damn...I didn't even know we had a library section. Nice!
  12. My question is...will the difference still be 2" between the MDT and Nox, if the recovery speed of the Nox is lowered down to say 2-3?
  13. I get it now. I watched a Tony Eisenhower video, in which he air tested a bunch of rings. The TID of 14.7 gram 24K mens ring came up as 33 and that surprised him. https://youtu.be/SsgspduZA_8?t=862
  14. 24K gold will have a TID on the NOX like a quarter or even higher, like silver.
