  1. WTG Lunk, No surprise, you have once again beaten your tools into submission. You rule! Best hunting this season! Dave
  2. OK, now y'all got me paranoid about my new titanium knee replacement, let alone my carrot (which I'm planning (now) to drop into an anti-static bag...... )
  3. Ok, Ok - I'll get one! Thanks for the feedback!
  4. Tortuga's advise "Rules" for Mac-users, it was too simple (drag'n drop). I guess I just fail to trust PC related material on a mac. The drive appears as a Minelab HD, everything else is easy-greasy much as Tortuga and the instructions said. Now, if we could get the Xchange2 to run on a Mac - I'd shut up and get back to detecting. Has anyone tried using Xchange2 software with "Boot Camp" to run it on the Macs? Thanks again Tortuga! (I'm still retraining my 1-month-old replacement knee to walk again, but hope to hit AZ and NCal next month (if I can only kneel down). )
  5. I'm a major MacIntosh user - Color me "stupid" with the directions posted, but the Manual Download procedure indicates just hooking up the Zed USB to my Mac and transfer the software update..... What file is that? The downloaded "GPZ_7000_UPDATE_IMAGE_20151009.ml3"? That is hardly the referenced "Minelab(E:)" ---- That said, it is a 10.2 MB sized file . Can I just download that file onto a flash-memory drive, and plug that into the GPZ's USB? I totally respect Steve's aid in providing this information on the update, please don't misunderstand - I'm just caught in this unreal world of Mac vs PC applications and the issues thereby presented. IF there is another Mac user out there that has successfully done this download - please respond, I certainly would appreciate it.
  6. Nope, no surprise here.... You rule with that machine, I can personally attest to that. WTG! Happy hunting this Winter. I'm nursing a new partial knee replacement, but hope to cross paths this Winter/Spring. Dave
  7. Steve, On a value scale, you (and Chris) long ago have rated over-the-top in breaking open the "close to the chest" knowledge base that has evaded many of us that love this persuit of AU. I've been a serious weekend warrior in this area for three+ decades (early 80's) and never seen such a focused attempt to educate us all, regardless of our background, level of knowledge, hardware, etc. Your approach has been so possitive, it encourages everyone. My point is that here you continue that drive, expanding yet again that knowledge base with the added Calendar, and the re-organized archive. I don't know where you find the time for all this, but just want to join the chorus in thanking you and Chris, and ICMJ, for all that you all do. Please keep it up. I now have far more time to persue the hidden treasure, and am an ardent student at your combined university. Those many followers of this forum, local, many other states, and international - all are participants in expanding that info base, but as I see it - your forum has brought us all together. THANKS!
  8. Our setups are very close - great piece for anyone though, many just need the validation on their choices. I'd highly recommend good gel type knee pads, at least my knees require whatever protection I can give them this late in my abusive life. Steve, as always - great stuff! You're the best.
  9. Incredible - any special details, like the detector used, what part of the world was it recovered in, local or other country?
  10. Thanks for that site: http://detectoraid.com/; The HipStick is relatively new and addresses a major problem these heavier detectors are causing - fatigue. ML had addressed this issue with their ProSwing 45 Harness, which works great. Yet they have just modified their ProSwing 45 yet never mentioned it, nor advertised the newer model anywhere. Not every MD'ing swinger has adopted the PS-45, however alot have, and personally, I find it quite comfortable. The problem is, apparently this new model is only available when you buy the new GPZ 7000, and well needed due to the stock - heavy coil. The new variant is pretty-much the same as the original, but has two J-strut's (one for each side) instead of one, as well as cross-bar over a new doubled bungee strap (between each D-Ring one each shoulder strap) - this replacing the older sternum strap. That modification appears to stabilize the distance between the two shoulder straps since there is a force on both - pushing inward, and I'll have to customize my own fix for that part. I've ordered the parts kit (replacement type kit: another J-strut, a bungee, and the S-strap) to bring my original PS-45 closer to the performance of the new model. Swinging can get tiring for the arm and shoulder without these aids, particularly with some of these newer model detectors. I wish ML would promote their new aids and make them available to the rest of us.... Those of us who haven't yet stepped up to the GPZ. (Spoken by one who now fields: ML GPX 5000; SDC 2300, Garrett ATX) Dave
