  1. I don't think depth will come into it but I could be wrong. I have been before. I don't generally go out of my way to detect the fly Sh#t size gold but when I do it is just for a bit of fun & any gold is better than no gold...right? I have both the GM 1000 & the Nox 800 & have a few spots on bedrock that have this size gold trapped up in it. Scrape & detect type stuff bringing more to light. The gold does have to be very close & even touching the coil but the Nox 800 gets my vote for getting the tiniest of bits. Even way down in the negative numbers. Sometimes there is no reading at all but just a very slight crackle in the audio. I know a few folk, new to detecting, that couldn't get their heads around the nox. Sold it & got a GM 1000 & due to it simplicity of use love it. G4G
  2. Couldn't you just sell some of the gold you have found with your SDC to buy the X6? G4G
  3. Hell yer....I have the GM 1000, Nox 800 with 6" coil, Whites GMT & I still love my GB2 & that rock solid little sniper coil.
  4. Minelab have always been a step ahead in technology. That is a fact. Well in my book anyway. People gripe about ergonomics, weight, shaft lengths, coil sizes & options of coils or there lack of. At the end of the day their detectors are tops & leading the pack. Have done for a while. We have seen in recent times the demise of Whites & Tesoro. Others may possibly follow. But Minelab will still be there.
  5. Thanks Gold Catcher but I 'live' in manual ground balance & smoothing's off & have a good understanding of how to run my Zed at the top end of sensitivity that seems to work for me. We are all different as are our ground conditions & what we can or cant get away with. Happy hunting. G4G
  6. Many times I have got a very faint but positive stop me in my tracks signal with the GPZ. As soon as I have disturbed & moved the gold in the ground. Always very shallow so obviously a small piece. Maybe broken the gold 'halo' surrounding the small piece of gold the signal has gone. No matter how carefully I try to pick the signal up again I haven't been able to. But I knew what I heard & knew something was there. Bring on the Gold monster & I find it. Tiny bit of gold. G4G
  7. It gets a 5 star rating on the three smallest pieces & only a 4 star rating on the biggest. Have I missed something here? I would have thought the bigger ones would have been off the chart.πŸ˜‚ G4G
  8. Was that an XT 18000 you were using? To answer your question re finding of a 10 gram nugget...... Gosh, they are like hens teeth today but that isn't to say they are not out there. The 'shallow' ones have well & truly been picked off. Today they maybe just down out of reach at the moment with todays ever improving technology. It is a bit like asking how long is a piece of stringπŸ˜‚. The real gold is in the journey of trying to find one. Enjoy the journey, just as you did in your post. Best of luck. G4G
