  1. Call me old school on bigger purchases, I like to make my deals face to face. Like NZ though, we import a lot, and as you say online is becoming the norm. When it's made local and you have someone to talk to and answer queries in person though, I think it makes for a warmer transaction and leaves you feeling better about the purchase. (depending on the sales rep of course) Phil being owner operator, loves the hobby, and makes any detecting/sluice related visit his store, leave you feeling you've come out with a bit of extra knowledge and local chatter as well as a great purchase.(imo) Something you just don't get online.
  2. Out of the blue so to speak.... UFOs or UAPs as they are called these days, (unexplained aerial phenomenon) have always intrigued me. Being a sci-fi , trekky, Asimov, Feist fiction fan, I like to think I've got an open mind on the subject. With claims in and from far before the Bible, of beings from the sky visiting with some kind of "Godlike" powers... And modern day reports and claims since our first nuclear testing... Anyway, the recent release of US military UAP footage, has given much credence to the subject of late. What has this to do with prospecting you ask? Well... I was wondering if anyone had seen or had any strange experiences while out prospecting they'd like to share? A chance to vent ... edit: I believe there is something. Way too many respectable and reliable witnesses. The question as always is what?
  3. I disagree.. I for one have always preferred walking into a shop or premises and getting my hands on something before laying down cash. And once the initial orders are filled, and stock and parts can be kept on shelves, a dealer in the GT that can be accessed during business hours is more convenient (imo) than relying on Aus post and couriers. As they are using an existing business there is no outlay required that would increase costs or raise the price. I think it's a good choice, and only mentioned you Steve as you've met him. Yes he is a dealer but as Simon mentioned, until backorders are filled it means little. What it shows me though is that things are expanding, with orders exceeding product, and no major issues with the product.(parts supply is something else) Be overseas before you know it.
  4. Hope I'm not jumping the gun as I wish Phil all the best. https://theprospectorsdepot.com.au/ The Prospectors Depot is to become the first/sole Vic dealer and is taking orders. Great that the E1500 is expanding and branching out. I believe you hooked up with Phil on your Aus visit Steve so can confirm or deny firsthand should you choose. As much as online shopping has become a "thing" it's always nice to know there is someone within state you can talk to. Have put my order in when available. edit: My bad, I believe Phil has a demo model for those in Vic Aus wishing a hands on look.
  5. 12x8" EVO was like a sadie on steroids on the Q (early on.). I put it second only to the 10" Xcoil for the small stuff and think it would excel on the E1500. Sadie like finds but deeper. Only reason I passed mine on was my 10" X. Now using a Zed I am keen to put my Xcoil to use again on an E1500 for the kids. It's light easy to learn and offers a great chance for beginners to enter the hobby, as well as a lightweight small gold tool for those with a few more hours under the belt.. imo. I hope Alex is receiving plenty of input from new users, and I'm sure is thinking and testing new ways to resolve any reported issues.(of which I've heard none.)
  6. And I've got a $30Au set of Bauhn noise cancelling headphones from Aldi that I prefer to brands that cost $200+ (SP etc) As long as you feel you're getting good value and not ripped off, price is an individual thing.imo.
  7. I thought you guys wanted to see E1500 finds, didn't realize you had size and depth requirements. I'm sure more performance orientated finds and testing will show as deliveries continue. I'd still be happy knowing it's finding these Nuggs and not missing them.
  8. Most pages are private with only a FB membership required to avoid spammers. No different to membership here. And it's based in Australia, not just for Aussies, I'm sure others will appear as sales increase and start in other countries. I guess it depends how keen you are to research the machine.
  9. An E1500 FB page has been started, with a few finds being posted. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2529995203848150/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=2551339378380399
  10. What coil are you using for the finds Ned? I see you tried a few but missed the bit saying which one produced for you. Cheers, Dave. Edit: All good, I see 9" round coiltek.
  11. Seems almost like a commercial rig, with multiple transmitters available! Will be interesting to see a working unit.
  12. All good, they should have a similar department and regulations.. https://www.dmp.wa.gov.au/Minerals/Native-Title-5481.aspx
  13. It's a lot of reading, but I found this for SA. Hope it helps. https://www.energymining.sa.gov.au/industry/minerals-and-mining/communities-and-land-access/native-title-and-aboriginal-land
  14. Yes! Pretty sure all states have restrictions. More important than the 75 year rubbish in Vic imo.
  15. Hi George. Not sure about the E1500, but the 11&14" detech spirals ran well on the single channel QED. At higher settings they were the quietest spiral on the Q, (though not the most sensitive) Perhaps the different timings on the E1500 will give them an edge!?
  16. I've found with the DOD Zsearch 12" (and to some extent standard) There is enough audio feedback, on shallow double blip targets, to tell the difference in pitch between a round pellet and gold. As the targets get deeper, or vary in shape and material, a dig all policy comes into play. Something like the E1500 target ID on the Zed would be welcome.
  17. A look inside the E1500 Not sure why you would without detecting...but Woody has dismantled the AlgoForce for a look see.. (again not sure why, but happy to look.) 😄 Edit: My bad, didn't realise the link was already up.
  18. Great stuff Simon. Can I ask if you notice any difference in signal, between the 00 lead and the 00 gold when not in pinpoint? As you pointed out, some small gold will read the same as lead when pinpointed, would be interesting to see if there were any other indicators to tell the difference. Target Id does seem to work a treat though.
  19. In laymans terms.. Shorter timing...Shallower/smaller gold Longer timing gives deeper penetration but less sensitivity on small targets..
  20. OK, will adjust the links to the later videos. Appreciated. Dave.
  21. My apologies Simon, as a youtube subscriber I didn't realise a couple of your vids weren't public until reading here. In my haste to poste new E1500 info, they have been posted on FB (Links only and you have been tagged) and my own archive/forum. Let me know if I need to remove anything.
  22. Top job Simon. Ps. I gave my Xcoil ears a touch with a file when I had the same issue.
  23. A lot of relic hunters looking closer too. What I'm waiting to see also is, with a usb programmable option, what sort of software upgrades/updates will be available. Eg..Could you have a deep package, a beach package..etc...just with the software, then the individual adjustments on the machine. Looking forward to users giving field reviews.
