I've been using my Nox 800 with a 15" coil for a few months now, ears broke on original coil, and I find it too nose heavy. Yesterday I received the 11" Nox coil and parts I bought from Dan(NM) last Thursday. The parts are like NEW, just like he said. Dan is an honest man and great seller!!! So this morning I went out for some beach hunting. Been on a bit of a dry spell lately. First thing I noticed, it felt so much easier swinging the Nox. No luck in the wet so I hit the dry. $5.50 in clad and these 2 little beauties. Thanks again Dan, not only for the great parts but for the great Karma that came with them! A short hunt just before sunset snagged this small 2.2 gram 14K in the salt water with the Nox 800.

I hunted a new (too me) spot yesterday for a couple of hours from ankle to chest deep water, settings were all metal mode, delay 10, sensitivity 8, and ATS 5. The detector ran well with some chatter but nothing overwhelming and similar to my TDI BH, it's probably a given as with other detectors that I find how the AQ runs differs from beach to beach and can sometimes be run hotter or has to be turned down. Anyways near the end of my hunt is when I found the gold ring, it took a few scoops to retrieve it and I would guess it was in the 10" range, at first glance I thought it was a junk or gold plated ring being that it is tarnished on the inside. After getting back home and assuming the ring was junk I didn't bother to look at it until later in the evening and upon inspection could see a 14k stamp inside the ring, I then tested with my GXL-24 Pro gold tester and it displayed 14k, this tester does distinguish between gold and gold plated/filled items. I've never found a gold ring that looks good on the outside but tarnished on the inside like this before, any thoughts or comments? BTW the ring is 7.0 grams, also can't seem to edit title to show AQ instead of Aq.

This is a very unique looking ring. Obviously it is hand made. Tightly wrapped silver wire with 14K gold wire securing the 4 amethyst stones. Not for everyone but it was for someone. LOL It rang up 23-25 on the Equinox. I am not sure what the core material is but it appears to be dark in color and has a piece on both sides. Anyway, just wanted to share this one. Pretty cool. Also dug a couple of 10K pendants and a really nice .925 ring with CZs all around it and a large center stone. Thanks for looking!

Hi guys! Hope y'all doing great! So, today I went to the beach again for the third time! Managed to pull these 2 beauties! Today I didn't use no discrimination because I was getting bored! Haha. Although I was All Metal, I avoided most of the high IDs, I don't really look for coins (did pull a few tough), my gold is to dig the low IDs and the iffy signals. It was fun! Went for an all-day water hunt recently and tried some different settings. I dug every positive TID for most of the hunt and wound up with over one-hundred bottle caps (threw some in the dumpster at the lake). I really focused on the TID's less than 20 and even skipped a few in the mid-twenties just to try a different approach and learn more about the detector. I dug every "1-4" trying to find another gold chain or bracelet but it was not to be on this hunt. There was a little more trash that is not pictured here so the overall trash to treasure ratio was about 3 to 1. Wound up with 3 gold rings (13 grams total) and 1 silver ring- the rest of the jewelry is cosmetic. I Instead of hunting in "Gold 2" mode like I usually do in fresh water I hunted in "Beach 1". The Beach mode is a lot smoother but not quite as deep as the Gold mode. This was a bit of an experimental hunt but wound up being pretty productive. I'm happy with the gold but I think that I prefer hunting the wet sand at the beach- it's a lot easier on the body! GL&HH!

Had a good hunt at the lake today, hunted for 6 hours and ended up with 5 pieces of silver, handful of clad and a pouch full of trash. 3 silver rings, silver pendant, silver chain and a couple of junk pieces of jewelry. Stayed on the dry beach today because the lake level is dropping. Ran the Nox 600 in Park 1... recovery 2... Iron bias 0 ...Sens 23 ..1 Tone, dug everything from 0 up.

Got out for another night hunt today, started at 3am and stopped about 7:30. I did a zig zag from the wet to the waters edge of the low tide and I couldn’t find a line to work no matter how much I tried. I decided to pick a line that has worked for me in the past and has kept me from getting skunked on a few occasions. This hunt was no different, my first crisp sounding target was a nice little 18k ring that weights 4.7 grams. This is my first 18k ring ever, for some reason I always find 10k gold when I do find gold. About 30 minutes later I found a dead/drowned watch. Towards the end of the hunt I found the iPhone, which I figured that’s what it was before digging it. It’s been months since I have found a phone and this one doesn’t turn on just like all the others. I was swinging the AQ for this hunt. It’s weird how sometimes it works like it should and others it likes to false, during the same hunt. Thanks for reading and happy hunting.

Quite impressed with the machine on this one it was chattery in close to shore with the waves so I went to Mute and got this still very deep--18" range and still pretty loud. (3.7 gr.) Good "sides" were a clue to dig this one amongst the caps and pins. (Something I've learned from the GQA2, CS6PI and TDI Pro. I know that with more practice this machine has the potential to be a very accurate pulse (there is such a thing...). cjc

Found a class ring, but only by luck I use a Fisher F75, and this rang up as 22-23, which was the same as the foil hot dog wrappers that were also in the stadium. I'm guessing it is a Josten's ring. I included a picture of the only stamp inside. ?Maybe a brand name for the metal mixed used?

Got invited to pick through an older church grounds so I thought I would brush up on my skills with my Tejon over at the local park. Only spent about an hour and snagged this ring. Included is my trash. Set my 2nd disc to break on a degraded zincoln for quick reference.

An earlier post by Compass has inspired me to show a somewhat similar find. Here is a heavy silver chain with attached ring and anchor, all silver. Weighing in at 96.6 grams, it is my heaviest silver score yet. Bob

A buddy of mine wanted to hit the low tide last night so I said why not. The only hard thing was deciding what detector to use this time. After I picked one I headed out and got to the beach by 11:45 pm for the 2am low. I wasn’t expecting much but within half an hour I had my first piece of jewelry, although it was junk but we were on the right track. At 1.5 hrs I dug the 18k pendant with real diamond chips. Another hour later I dug the 10k 18gram class ring. This is only the second class ring I find without a name. A few more minutes later I dug an unmarked 10k ring with some real diamond chips. The rest of the jewelry was junk but did get the heart pumping since it looked good at night. Dug about 80 pieces of junk not pictured and very little clad. My buddy dug quite a bit of lead and nickels but just couldn’t put his coil over some gold, I guess there’s always next time. We had fun and the weather was great to be out swinging. I went out for a detect last night after dealing with some plumbing problems. That put me on the beach on a cut later than I wanted to be there. The cut was by far the biggest of the season. I started out in the normal fashion but every day on the beach is different. You can go to the same beach every day and expect different results. Before I got to any spot last night I noticed a couple of detectorists had been there first. They were coming back as I was going out. They must have had an epic night because there were dig holes all over the place. This was one of those events that by myself I could never have detected in one night. Who knows how far I would have gotten but I had to keep on detecting around and between the dig holes. The tide had gone out since it was detected so there was a reason to keep going to my spots. I'd never seen this stretch of beach so thoroughly detected. I was getting just a target here and there but these are good detectorists and they weren't leaving many quarters or anything. That was until I got to one patch where dig holes were on top of dig holes. I should have gone out sooner but once again I might not have made it this far. They must have had hearing fatigue because I heard a target or two amongst the holes. I dug a black ring. Whew ... something anyway. About 5 feet away I got another scratchy signal mixed with a 13. I'm standing in holes and digging a hole when I look down in the scoop and see another ring. This one had the chance of being 'real' so I was rewarded for seeing 200 or 300 dig holes. I couldn't read it so I had to just look at it and the stone in it. Who knows how many of those dig holes in this little 20x20 patch had been rings before I got there. I estimate a few. I had to look for more misses because I was at the end of the beach. I worked and worked and found one other cheap little ring on my way back. I got to the beach late. I was the second shift. I still got a goodie. The ring is stamped 14k, MMG, 3g and the diamond tests real and is about 6mm.

I've been reluctant to post some of my finds this year because it seems that many hunters are saying that they are not finding much due to stay at home mandates, beach closures, sanded in conditions and other reasons. One of my hunting buddies suggested that I wait a bit before posting my finds so that is what I am starting to do. Even though I didn't hunt for 2 months due to the pandemic the other 6 months this year have yielded some of my favorite finds in all the years that I have been detecting. One find in particular stands out. It came near the end of a pretty successful hunt that had already produced a beautiful, heavy, Italian, silver bracelet, costume jewelry and coins. It was a faint but wide signal, the kind of tone that usually winds up being a deep rusty blob of iron. As I repeatedly made attempts to retrieve the target from the wet sand it seemed that it was sinking deeper and deeper but I finally snagged it and up came a sight that I didn't expect. It wasn't a piece of junk. I saw a lengthy, blackish/gold chain but then saw a ring on the chain and a pendant as well! When the ring and pendant were first exposed to the air and sunlight, they were bright orange in color- glowing almost like they were heated up by a torch. I had seen this effect before but never to such an extreme. This must have been buried in the sand a long time. There were a lot of people around so I slipped the find into my pouch feeling pretty confident that it was a good one. When I got home I saw that the ring and "Star" medallion were both stamped "18K". With the chain being so discolored I was thinking it might be 10K but I located a "750" stamp near the claw and verified 18K with an acid test. I carefully scrubbed the chain with jewelry cream and a toothbrush and the beauty of the the chain was revealed. I forgot to mention that the chain was clasped all in one piece when I found it so it must have come off over someone's head unless they had it in their pocket. It may be 2 bucket-listers in one as I had never found a gold ring on a gold chain before and it is the first 18K gold chain that I have ever found with the detector although it was the ring and star that my detector was seeing. In a subsequent test my TDI BH would not detect the chain by itself. The silver bracelet was actually the first target I dug on this hunt. It looked so good and clean when I found it that I was thinking that it could be a fake but it must have been a fresh drop. Thanks for reading. GL&HH!

For sure a good start 22k 7.3 gr. Being told the emerald is dark and of good quality the type worn in the North of India Deli area and would belong to a "big family" owing to it's value. Very nice signal on the AQ sounding bigger than it was and very clean --really got a sense of the machine's optimization with this find. Also getting the hang of this "setpoint" type of Discrimination never really use my TDI Pro in the GB mode. Now to figure out the two Discrimination models (reject vs SAT). In the tone mode Im still a bit concerned about it "squelching" on some big 22k such as a bangle and will need to do some more testing. ...and a garbage heartstopper chain certainly looked good for a nanosecond... cjc clivesgoldpage.com

Took the Nox down to my local lake for an all day hunt on the exposed beach area. The lake level has been dropping all summer due to the lack of rain in central Texas. I spent most of the morning digging nothing but trash, mainly pulltabs and bottle caps. First good hit was the palladium ring, VDI was 15. Next keeper was the little silver rope pendant, VDI was 24. Last find of the day was the 10K ring which hit at 12. This is my first palladium ring, I thought it was stainless when I first saw it, but when I picked it up, it had some weight so I figured it was white gold. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was mark "Benchmark Palladium"

Scratch tested and stamped as 750, very happy with this! Bought a new detector with it 🙂 It's 3 rings in 1, land find. 2 together came up as a 17 on the Equinox and the loose one came up as a 15. The other finds in the area were just old .12ga shells lol

Think I'm setting at 17 gold now with the AQ. Fully paid for and adding to the Bank account. I knew it would not take long for I needed deep......... and it is. Today's hunt was a get out no matter the conditions, been busy at home for a week now....... I checked the winds before I left and they were very calm. Water level is Insanely high, about a foot above normal. Conditions at this beach are fairly sanded in but there's always the chance for deep strays...First out .........things were very slow, but I came into area that held a few coins, slowed and listened. One hour and 40 minutes into the hunt I get a good strong deep signal. Six scoops later outcomes a Big boy, I figured 11 grams but with gloves I have a hard time telling. Happy I got gold ......I stayed a few more hours..... nothing much other than a Merc and rosey came up. What really gets me is how deep this stuff is...and for some reason it loves nickels, And I only hunt in All Metal. Delay was 10 today, ATS I did play with but ended up set on 7, sensitivity was around 6, volume 8, threshold I did play with some also. But ended up just below 5, audible. Just about all targets today were deep but gave good reports... I did chase a few ghost signals, which one turned out to be a dime. Only dug a few pieces of Iron, one I should have stopped....... after 10 minutes of digging ... Good Luck to all this weekend, Be safe..Joe

All Metal hunting only Out yesterday, water was calm when I got there but by the time I was leaving white caps had started. Almost 4 hours, Not a lot of targets but seemed like the AQ was focused on all of the right ones. Never dug one piece of Iron which even I have a hard time believing. First gold came early in the hunt but the second gold ring was when the water started to changing. I got pounded several times by mild waves. Just big wide ones which really go over your head. Nothing like ocean waves where they rip your headphones off and take your scoop away....😳 And I am guessing some one is going to ask why did I not jump with the wave...Answer..I hunt with my eyes closed a good part of the time I am hunting.... not safe but I can focus on the audio fully.. Kind of funny, Rick had sent a email asking if AQ owners could post on Willy's question about the AQ coil and pinching the coil while the AQ is at full sensitivity to test it's shielding. I get to the beach. walk out to chest/waist deep and do the pinch test. AQ goes crazy when I pinched the coil..even my hand getting near it..I'm puzzled, maybe because my gloves are water soaked??.... ..until it hit me I had my lucky ring on, under the glove..🙄 Be out of commision a few days, grandsons visit before school starts. Maybe the last time I see them this year with the virus thing ....😞...they will be doing 2 day in and 3 days at home, online.

Went to one of my beaches this morning and found a pair of junk earrings an hour and 20 feet apart. The first one I found on my way to the wet sand. An hour later I came back to hunt a different area of the beach and found the other one. They were obviously junk with gold plated wire and beads twisted on them that had seen better times. When I got home I rinsed the salt and sand off of my finds and staged them for a picture. The earrings were just not right. I calibrated my gold/platinum tester and of course the wire tested negative but the hoops and one of the hooks tested 14k. I got out my dikes and needle nose pliers and cut off all the crap that had been twisted onto them and cleaned them up a bit more and retested. Sure enough, they are 14K. They weigh 1.6 grams, which gives them a spot gold value of over $50. So today's life lesson is do not ASSUME that everything is junk until you test it. LOL I also found a .925 Tiffany & Co ring, copper cents and nickels, so I once again lived up to my CUNIAGAU handle. 🙂

I've been for 3 detects since I last posted. Today's was the best by far but I'll just show the results in the pans. One day last week. The day after with one cheap ring. Then today with 4 rings and one silver and the Australian hoard! On Friday I took a break from detecting and got this: A 4 lb corbina.

Was out of town this weekend but tried the beach when I returned to take advantage of the good tides. Got to the beach at 3:00 am and after several minutes of detecting it felt that my record string of great hunts was going to end with a thud. However, I found a pocket of targets which, surprisingly, yielded more jewelry than coins. It was pretty dark out so I really wasn't sure what I had until I got home. However, one ring felt pretty smooth, seemed heavy enough and looked pretty good when I switched on my headlight: Several nice surprises when I got back. The small earring below the (14K) gold ring is a half gram of 10K. The sunglasses are Tiffany & Co but I dinged up the lenses from my scoop. There are 3 silver items and the feather pendant isn't stamped but holds up to 18K acid. (?) The light colored polished stone was in a rusty wire spring cage which I discarded. The past month and a half have been unusually good for me detecting-wise and I feel incredibly blessed. A lot of it is luck but I do think that being retired has given me the time to learn my hunting grounds and detectors a little better as well as giving me more flexibility to detect where and when I want.
