I've never been fortunate to detect a fairgrounds, but those carnival-type locations seem like a holy grail for coin detectorists. You indicate yours has been hunted, but that just means you need to be more diligent in your searching as I'm sure you already realize. I look forward to more reports and photos. BTW, Red Book says that the 1920 (plain = Philadelphia) has the highest mintage in the series, with 27.9 million minted compared to second place of 14.2 million for the 1918 plain. But the condition of yours makes it unusual (although still not especially valuable compared to the scarcer/rarer dates in much worse condition). The detail of the design really shows through -- a prized item in any detectorist's collection.
