TampaBayBrad
phrunt, are you anywhere near Auckland? Just read in the paper about the serious flooding there after a summer's worth of rain fell in one day. Hope all is well with you...

It may be possible allowing Minelab a chance to correct any problems it may have before we all can get one? All buyers of all new detectors in the first few months these days are just doing the final testing. The Fisher Impulse AQ is by any definition a “pay to play” beta testing scheme. The Nokta Legend in particular has had the most extensive bug fix and software update cycle I have seen yet. They have literally needed fixes to fix fixes! People spin it as “updates” or “free features” but all it is is unfinished business. Same with almost every new detector in the last decade or more. No company has been immune to it, though some take it farther than others. Manticore is no different and is just undergoing normal and rather minor teething pains. This should not be news to anyone paying attention to new releases, and is why I have long recommended waiting a minimum of 6 months before buying any new detector model. It seems to me any delays in getting the Manticore is as much from heavy demand as anything, though parts supplier delays are also extremely common these days. People are snapping up the Manticore as fast as it appears for sale anywhere. If you can't get one, it's mostly because somebody else got it first.

Gladly I'm not near Auckland, opposite end of the country on a different Island, yes they have just had record breaking flooding with a lot of the city flooded, more rain came down in an hour than normally comes down in a month and it just kept going. We are opposite down here, quite hot cloud free and we have water restrictions due to lack of rain.

Popular Post longbow62
I like the Manticore. I just have not been wowed by it yet. Maybe I expected to much. I can't find anything to gripe about the way it functions really. So far from everything I can tell It's way better than the Equinox around EMI. That in itself is a major win. There are plenty of nice touches. The menu layout and navigation is great. The screen itself looks fantastic. Plenty of audio options. I like AT HC and AT LC the best. I still say the Manticore eats battery pretty fast. I was using AT HC the whole time today about 5 hours. I think this new screen has to use more battery than the Equinox screen too. My hunt today was an old ball field my buddy found. Lots of really deep clad. To stinking deep actually, and very corroded. I swear some this clad 9"-12" deep. I'm glad the ground was wet, but flipping the plug was tough. Saturated clay is heavy. I got my first silver with the Manticore today. Also a sterling silver marksmanship medal.
UT Dave
Got my first silver with mine today too, ancient silver ring about as roached out as silver can get, 12" deep on a beach at the Great Salt Lake. I don't have enough time on the machine to even comment. So far though, yeah, I like it, not wowed, but not unhappy. The EMI advantage I have seen too, and that was my main reason for buying the Manticore. It's deep on the GSL beach, I think. So I'm happy. No complaints. But not wowed, either. Yet. Don't need to be wowed though. Happy is good enough. - Dave
