The first thing I thought of when seeing that 6" coil was the algoforce (I may buy one myself) There is a 6" coiltek mono for sale on Facebook marketplace atm for $125. (Search "coiltek)

If there's noise, there's a fault....which is usually in the bottom 1/4 of the coax cable or plug. I (like Simon) was under the impression that the smaller the mono, the more prone they were to mineralised ground ?

With a sensitivity increase, you will get more reaction with hot rocks but the detector has less ground signal to deal with (its simply not sensing as much square cm/inches per swing) so you'll hear less general mineralization...unless your ground is filled with hot rocks lol.
