  1. All of my testing with the Sound peats Q12+ is with my Equinox 800. I have not had the scratchy or drop out issues that some 600 users have indicated. I have a friend that has a 600 and anything Bluetooth he tries, crackles and cuts out. He has not tried to pair with the original 800 headphones yet, I offered to let him try mine and he has yet to try them. I also make sure not to have my cellphone with me when I am using my detector.
  2. Update on The SoundPEATS Q12. 2- 3 hour hunts. Paired up right away. Swing detector and it hits just like the stock headphones. Pinpoint is same as stock headphones. Bend your head and move around and there were times I had to push one or the other back in. Not a real problem. They are comfortable. They don't hurt my ears after long use. Bud material is soft. Would have liked the cable to be a couple of inches longer. I really enjoyed hunting with these ear buds. If they fit you, you will like them. There are several options that come with the package. I am thinking of taking the wings off and seeing if that is a better fit. The sound codec is perfect. No crackles or weird noises. I know I can't swing long enough for the battery to run out so there is no problem with longevity. I will note that they recommend using 1 amp or less plug to charge the battery. I just use the usb on my computer and it charges just fine. Great buy at $28. Hope this helps and as always Happy Hunting everyone.
  3. I am glad to share my experiences and hopefully all of us can benefit. Keep us posted Againstmywill on how these earbuds stack up and I will be doing the same. Happy Hunting Everyone
  4. I ordered the Q12 Plus SoundPEATS Bluetooth Headphones Magnetic Wireless Earbuds IPX6 In-Ear Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless Earphones (9 Hours Playtime, APTX-LL, CVC 8.0, 10mm Drivers) same as CliveHamy. They arrived in 2 days from amazon $28. I paired right up after charging. They are very nice. They come with 4 different wings and 3 different buds. I buried a penny and a quarter at 4 inches and swung my Equinox 800 over them. They sound just like my head phones. Spot on and pinpointed right on. I went on a short hunt where my grand daughter tossed my Christmas present ( several modern coins) and I hit a quarter and a nickel. So far the earbuds are comfortable and they are APTx Low Latency Bluetooth 5.0. I recommend them for someone looking to use earbuds instead of head phones. These will be my go to wireless earbuds from now on.
  5. I am with Steve on this one. I ordered mine and it is great for keeping the keypad from getting gunked up and scratched. Light dirt still gets under the cover but it is not a problem with a blast from compressed air. The canned air is easiest. Tight fit and I have had it in all kinds of muck to dry dirt and a light wipe down with a damp cloth makes it just like new. Highly recommended to use over a screen protector to keep everything in nice shape. The Detector buttons work easily too. Happy Hunting everyone Mark
  6. I had mine just start indicating in mid air. Wouldn't stop. It was weak too. I contacted Minelab and they had me ship it back. They emailed me a pick up ticket and it took a total of 6 days and my new one was in the house. Great customer service. I have tried the new one a couple of times and it seems better. Nice pin pointer, just a little finicky at times with the iron indicator on. I still have my Garrett Carrot that I use the most. Email Minelab directly and let them know what is going on. They are quick to respond. Happy Hunting everyone. Mark
  7. Thanks Randy. It is posts like yours that help us new 800 users get going faster. Adjusting the zones, volumes, and pitch really make the 800 shine. The advantage of being able to quiet down certain regions and let what you are looking for sound out louder, helps smooth the profile out and it is much easier on the ears to get to the good stuff. Keep up the good work and Happy Hunting everybody
  8. My Mine Lab Pro Find 35 is great. The Garrett AT Pro is always a good choice. I have used mine a lot and it is just a great pin pointer.
  9. First real hunt tonight in my yard produced Silver! The last 2 nights were short trips trying to learn the unit. I read Steve's beginners posts, Thank you Steve, and started in Park 2 auto ground balance 18 sensitivity and 2 tone. I am coming off using the Ace 400 and the multi tones were too confusing. Once I found the sweet spot on the coil and learned to pinpoint, the sweet spot there is the middle of the coil, I went on to 5 tones and adjusted pitch and volume to quiet the Equinox down so I could process what I was hearing. The highest region was pennies to silver and everything else I quieted down around 10. I swung and listened for the high squeak and started finding targets. I first dug a memorial penny. Then came a wheatie. A short time later I heard a high squeak and saw 37 38 on the vdi. I dug 10 inches down and found the silver handle of an old knife. It is silver wrapped steel shaft. First silver with the Equinox. Right after that I picked up a clad quarter and had to call it a night. First impressions from a relative newbie. This unit is advanced and when you are coming from an Ace 400, it can be quite intimidating. Can't swing the Equinox like an Ace 400. The volume of sounds is amazing. I just got the picture in my mind of what I was hearing and went from there. I want to thank Cal Cobra for his video, it helped a lot during the first hunts and I want to thank everyone who reacted to my first post. It is great to know people are rooting for our success in hunting. More to come. Happy hunting everyone. Mark
  10. I finally received my Equinox 800. First Impressions is that it is a deep seeking machine. The Garrett 400 is ideal at 4-5 inches, the 800 goes much deeper in my soil. Looking forward to learning the new unit on my "hunted out" yard. I will keep everyone posted on my experiences.
  11. I was looking to upgrade from my Garrett Ace 400. I was hot on a Deus until my local dealer told me to check out the Equinox from ML and see if that would be a better suited unit for my detecting needs. He emphasized he would gladly get me a Deus if I was still wanting one but encouraged me to do more "digging" into the new technology. I am glad he offered that advice. I am patiently waiting for the arrival of my Equinox 800. My Garrett Ace 400 has found over 85 coins in my yard so far including 5 silvers, but I have lots of trashy iron and while I have pulled a lot out, there is still more there. I also have several spots to hunt that are the same soils and I want to discriminate much better before I go dig those areas. In all the videos I have watched, I see lots and lots of junk dug up that gave high signals that should have been quality targets. It can get pretty frustrating digging outstanding signals only to unearth a hunk of iron. Even with Iron Audio on the Garrett Ace 400, you still dig lots of iron. From what I have seen on the limited videos and from Steve H's great information posts and pictures, the Equinox 800 fits my detecting hobby to a Tee!. So, Happy Hunting everybody and Gerry I am a little jealous that you are getting your Equinox 800 so quickly, just kidding. BTW, I have subscribed to your YouTube channel and really appreciate your videos. Can't wait to see your new Equinox videos. Mark
  12. Steve, I just want to say thank you for your insight. I can't wait to hear more from you as everybody starts interacting with their new Equinox. My hope is that this forum becomes the treasure trove of information and education that will guide us into learning this new technology. I have only great respect for the selflessness that you have given to keep us going this far. You have inspired a great forum that should be the benchmark for all forums to discuss intelligently the nuances of this new subject matter. I hope many will find this forum and join in on all the fun that is to come. Your posts will always get my first look. Great job so far and as always Happy Hunting. Mark
  13. I also will be trying for gold but my main hunting will be park like settings. I have an old town to hunt in that has lots of iron trash. My Equinox 800 will get a real workout.
  14. Good one Steve. The only real test is in the field or surf. No matter how much you simulate to see what a detector can and cannot do, there is no substitute for real conditions. I have watched the "speed" videos that popped up after Dr Tones did his video from Detectival. The other detectors may be very responsive but they are not the new technology of Multi IQ. Air testing to learn a detectors tone response is good, but beyond that, get out and hunt!!! Mark
  15. Skate I am with you on the pass up the iron waiting for the Equinox. It will be loads of fun discovering what was missed by my Garrett Ace 400. The 400 is a nice starter but with what is in store with the Equinox 800, I too am feeling the " Christmas Morning" excitement for my Equinox 800 to arrive. Until then I will keep getting out often when the weather permits and enjoying the thrill of the hunt. Happy Hunting Sir!!!! Mark
