  1. I could make out your pump. What size and type of battery are you using?
  2. I have the same issue. You don’t know what you are not hearing. The problem with adjusting down the high tones is if you are a prospector gold hits the low to mid tones.
  3. Here is the end of last winter 2022/23. At the south entry porch located on the left is buried a ladder that extends from the bottom of the doorway down 8 feet to the ground. There is actually a human and two cats living inside the cabin. His firewood is stored under the cabin for winter with access through a floor hatch. He puts on his snow suit in late fall leaving it on until late spring. Snowshoeing pass on a sunny day I find him standing outside warming himself. No electricity, propane or telephone only water and books. Over the years he has knock loose all the wooden bridging between the ceiling joists for additional firewood. After he finishes a read the book often finds itself inside the woodstove. When in need of assistance he sits in the porch doorway yelling to the south. The echos comes at you from all directions. The first time I heard it I could not figure out what it was let alone locate where it was coming from. He claims to have panned a few flakes from the creek just a few yards to the south. A few winters back there was 10 feet of snow on the ground by the end of December. During the January following 17 inches of rain fell. The runoff could not reach the creek channel so cut a new channel beneath the snow that ran under his cabin flushing out all his firewood. 50 years and still he has not found a good woman to share his cabin in the woods.
  4. Miner John TDI folded mono coil… I have one of those. Wouldn’t that be something if it works on the Algoforce. Yeah, hurry you guys and keep us updated on those tonal nuances.
  5. … for the black sands of Tahoe? Now that would be exciting.
  6. No, Sorry. In the morning I was traveling west from Jack Creek Road towards Sage Creek Road (401) then SW towards Baggs, then followed the Little Snake River east (70), turned north east of Bridger Peak. I do not remember traveling as far as Encampment before heading north but may have. At some point I eventually crossed west back to Jack Creek on a secondary Forest Service Road. It was on this forest service road where I stopped at the log cabin. I ran into a ranch manager living with his family just north of the Jack Creek Campground that was familiar with the area. Good Luck
  7. The 2024 Sierra west slope Spring runoff may be substantially less than the Spring of 2023 unless snowfall totals increase over the next two months. Approximately 30 inches on the ground or about 30% in average for this time of year. January, 2023, Homestead Cabin, Elevation 7,000 feet, looking west. January, 2024, Homestead Cabin, elevation 7,000 feet, looking south.
  8. I don’t want to run you on a goose chase so keep in mind it was back in the fall of 2002. It may have been the “Bridger Mine” located NE of Divide Peak, west of Jack Creek Road south of Rawlings on Hwy 80. NW 1/4 section, Section 2, Township 15N 87W. Traveling west on Forest Service Road 453 from Jack Creek Road the cabin would be on the right side of the road, a drainage was down slope on the left, beyond the creek was black timber. Land Matters does not indicated any active claims in Section 2. There multiple active claims south of Bridger Peak.
  9. Don’t diamonds form from carbon at depth under extreme pressure? What geologic structures existed in Arkansas and Wyoming that enabled the formation of diamonds? Okay, after sleeping on that question not so easily answsered. https://www.geowyo.com/wyoming-diamonds.html Over 20 years ago came across a log cabin in the Medicine Bow Mountains. Looking through a paned window I saw what I thought was a shaker table surrounded by piles of dirt. Thinking gold I quickly looked around the immediate area for any placer workings. Not finding any went on my way.
  10. Wow! $1,500 US. Nokta and Garrett managers may also be attending unscheduled meetings to address the impact on their rumored 2024 MD releases.
  11. In the 1950’s a close relation partnered up with a placer miner to ground sluice a claim along a northwestern tributary of the Trinity River in Northern California. His 70 plus year old partner claimed to have been a “Klondiker”. They periodically had to procure supplies, on the way back they travel by truck to the road’s end then hiked the remainder into a remote claim. From the stories told I learned this old timer was part billie goat, they had to relocate their cabin to sluice the ground under, they stored their concentrates in coffee cans and they both liked their whiskey. Nearly 50 years later I made a trip into the area of the claim. I ran into a man and his young son picking wildflowers along a hillside. When asked, they were quick to remind me it was Mother’s Day. The man had a small quartz operation which included a ball mill but had no recollection of the miner in question. He mentioned the old placers were depleted then hooked me up with a local whose father might recall the people in the area in the 1950’s. Unfortunately the local’s father had dementia and did not recall much of anything. His daughter, my contact, had grow up in the area and had the following information to share. There were several old prospectors in the area at that time who would uproot every time news arrived of a new strike. They traveled the world including the western US & Canada, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand. But she claimed most always returned to the Trinity. She stated they always recovered enough gold to keep themselves grubstaked and ready for the next big strike. I never learn this old Klondiker’s name and his young partner has been lost to time.
  12. Nokta’s website had two future events scheduled, perhaps we will get a status update. Florida Hunt 10: February 23rd to the 25th Missouri Treasure Hunt: April 5th to the 7th.
  13. A canoe trip on the Yukon Big Salmon River. The country is beyond words. Each evening they read from the book “Gold Fever; incredible Tales of the Klondike Gold Rush” by Rick Mole. They end their trip with the poem by Robert W. Service “ The Spell of the Yukon”. Here’s a few lines that jump out to me. There’s a land where the mountains are nameless, And the rivers all run God knows where, There are lives that are erring and aimless, And deaths that just hang by a hair; There are hardships that nobody reckons; There are valleys unpeopled and still; There’s a land—oh, it beckons and beckons, And I want to go back—and I will.
  14. I see an older post ( Dec. 2022) from Va of a 1689 cob minted Lima, Peru. That would be a detecting find of a life time.
  15. A few Spanish Reale have been detected or dredged in the California goldfields. Here’s a website to background information: https://coinsite.com/spanish-8-reales-milled-and-pillar-dollars/
  16. Perlot on returning to Mariposa exchanges his gold for silver & gold coins. Interesting…
  17. Or a XP Deus with one of the HF coils. HF 9 inch round 15, 30 & 50 kHz or the HF Elliptical 15, 30 & 80 kHz. plus the X35 coils for that ghost town silver.
  18. Bringing outdoor activities indoors? “SHOT Show — the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting, outdoor…”
  19. I also like the LG30 but recently purchased the LG24. In the test garden (1, 5,10,25 cents w/ GB 40) the LG24 was good to 7 inches but struggled at 8 inches. Once the weather clears I’ll give it a run on the high EMI heavy iron trash site.
  20. Could Garrett have an annoucement regarding a 2024 release later this month?
  21. I made out the rabbit pin on the back of the button. Got an artist to attempt an explanation of the metal casting process. Bronze casting process? Starting with a carved/engraved clay figure, enclose clay figures in split plaster mold, remove clay figure, fill plaster mold with wax, remove wax figure, dip wax figure in silica power multiple time forming a second mold, pour molten bronze into silica mold replacing wax. Vanishing wax method? For jewelry the wax may be carved/engraved. Clay is often used for larger figures. A lot of time & craftsmanship involved. *Wonder if the same method could be used to recycle gold crowns. Just a thought.
  22. 1776 Continental Marines device consisted of a fouled anchor and eagle as an original design following the design of United Kingdom Royal Marines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USMC_oldEGA_button.jpg In 1776, the device consisted of a fouled anchor (tangled in its rope) of silver or pewter. Changes were made in 1798, 1821, and 1824. In 1834, it was prescribed that a brass eagle be worn on the cover, the eagle to measure 3.5 inches (89 mm) from wingtip to wingtip. An eagle clutching a fouled anchor with thirteen six-pointed stars above was used on uniform buttons starting in 1804.This same insignia is used today on the buttons of Marine dress and service uniforms, with the six-pointed stars changed to five-pointed stars.
  23. Thirteen stars along the upper rim of the maritime button, if that has any meaning. The rabbit button has clean detail. Need to start educating myself on sportsman buttons. Nice finds, thanks for posting. What is pinned & peened? Does anyone know now the designs were made or transferred? Several appear cast in a mold others stamped.
