  1. It means less corrosion of original parts . The cam lock on the Anderson is far better . It is lighter . And if it has the extra holes in the shaft can be used with my Terra also .
  2. Ordered mine already . Though my Terra Anderson shaft works well enough . Dont need a lower rod with it , just use a Terra lower stem .
  3. Nice bunch of coins there . Is the ring Silver ? So far i have used my Nox 8 times and have had 1 Gold ring , 8 Silver rings , 2 Silver chains and a Silver bangle and a Silver Pendent plus just over £105 in coinage . All 8 trips have produced a Gem so far , dont think i have had that run of luck ever but i would have to check my records .
  4. I have a set swing speed . Used to slow ET and Explorer's . Fast reactivity isn't important but depth is . High reactivity kills depth , makes the machine faster instead of deeper . Its the reason i had so much trouble on my first search . Unless in very bad iron i wont use high reactivity again . Or maybe a ploughed field .
  5. I sweep slow and i notice less depth with high recovery speed . Thats why i have lowered it .
  6. I have to have low reactivity on my beaches , a lot of the time most targets are deep . My beaches fill up or empty between 1 and 10 feet of sand shingle in a tide at times . Some of the worst beaches and trashiest about .
  7. I cannot get depth with the presets on my beaches . Reactivity has to be low at 2 or 3 for depth . I will play with the Bias setting next time out .
  8. Unfortunately i need depth more than speed . Except on parts of the beaches where there are a load of nails all over the place . Will play with that setting when out next .
  9. No but it still affects signals and discrimination . If your being biased against iron then nulling will happen . Even a fast machine suffers that , i see it on the beach amongst the nails. More speed and higher bias means seeing less iron but loses depth too ?? And thats the setting on all or at least the Beach 1 .
  10. Its no wonder i wasn't as impressed with the machine when i first used it . Now i have it lower its a lot better . Though slower ! But then i dont care.
  11. Field 1 should be a little higher as targets will be shallower if ploughed up . Park 1 should be lower for the depth . Why 6 for Beach 1 ? No depth in that , but then few tests were done on the beach till almost release date and not by people that do beaches almost entirely .
  12. I am the same . though I think the Explorer is deeper. I have always found the audio on the FBS better than the Terra and the Nox has Terra tones even if you can play with settings. And even though the Terra's I have had have found more coinage than any other machine. But I do like the Equinox even if I have to put the L plates back on . Could not read all of the post , to small on my phone. Maybe later on the laptop.
  13. The low freq coils like the 10.5 inch DD coil on the Terra 705 at 7.5 khts is very deep and brilliant on coins , its the standard fit for that machine when sold unlike what i think is standard in the US , the 9 inch concentric coil . The Terra is a good air tester and being shingle beaches in many places here means i need good air testers . The tones and numbers of the Terra are very accurate too , just a pity about the old design of the Terra's .
  14. On some sessions through the night i have had 3 figure somes . I dont stop till my batteries are flat let alone the machines! I dont think Minelab put in the best battery they could have used . Single freqs like the Terras are very good for the beaches i search , no black sand to worry about unless a very low tide. Lots of shingle and some sand. Multi freq is not an advantage unless in the wet .
  15. On my beaches the tops are very trashy and airy , a low frequency gives better depth and machines like the Terra are lethal on there as my past finds prove. As for my sessions i have done 14 hours straight in the past . Having to charge every trip is a pain and may not last a full session due to the trash levels on my beaches . Trust me trash levels like a landfill site .
  16. Since i started using my Equinox i had found it to be a bit weak and couldn't get it to work right for the first couple of trips . But i have got the beach 1 mode sorted now and even though it could do with a single frequency option say 10 khts i have got to understand it better . And feel it is definitely the X.Terra replacement i was looking for or at least mostly . This morning i took the Nox to the beach at 5am hoping for something nice , all the trips out so far have yielded Silver and so i must have been doing something right . I have had 4 Silver rings in the last 2 trips along with a Silver Pendent , a Silver Bangle and a Silver Bracelet and around £65 in coinage . But today i was hoping for 1st prize and thats what happened . I started at 5am in the dark and stayed out till around 10.30am after walking 2 miles on the sand and shingle trying to find anything about , i did find the odd scattering of coinage as usual and some where around 6 to 8 inches in depth . Nothing deeper except large Aluminium "Aluminum" LOL . At around 7.30am i came across a target that was 14 TID and thought 10p or 50p which would have been fine and as i used my 3 pronged fork to dig out the target i saw what i thought was a junk dress ring , but in fact was a nice 3.3 g 18k Gold ring with a yellow stone in it . No idea on the stone but i will check it out later sometime . After finding that i kept up the pace but didn't find much more and so at 10.30am i left the beach . My total finds for today were £10.58p , 3 knackered Foreign coins and the Gold ring . So now i have found a Gold ring which i felt wasn't an easy find i have ordered my second Equinox 800 . The Equinox isn't all i had hoped in every way but it is 9 / 10 . The only things that could have been a bit better are software issues really . Maybe updates can be done ? They are a 10 khts frequency option on beach 1 mode so you can do dry tops without changing modes , And the other which cant be done through software is the poor battery endurance , charging every trip is awkward unlike the RNB charge on the Explorer. But anyway i like the Equinox . Its a little less capable than the Explorer and E.Trac in neutral ground but better in some trashy ground and better on some targets . Still dont rate the depth but then i still have to check other programs so the verdict is still out on that one . 9 / 10 .
  17. Nice Gold , I had one today . Think I have the Nox set up right now. I have ordered my second machine as back up.
  18. I am using the beach 1 mode but in my own settings. Without the machine with me I can't say what they are. I think I have it right I think now but maybe the tone breaks need slight adjustments. I think because I feel that it can do what I want I will buy another as backup and think ? about selling my Explorer 11 . Though I think the E 11 is more stable on the beach.
  19. Always nuisance southerlies and westerlies here . piles up high , its him upstairs teasing me I bet.
  20. The beaches aren't helping either . piled high in everything but what I want . a nice flat sandy beach would be lovely. I might take a piccy or two of the state of play . where I need it good is where its bad right now or was yesterday.
  21. The Equinox won't be going anywhere. The beaches I search are mixed surface and iron everywhere and trash too. Aluminium mostly. To me the Equinox is a salt tolerant Terra 705 which will come in handy for fresh losses between the tides. When I see YouTube searches I rarely see deep targets found , usually 6 or 7 inches or a medium sized spade depth . The Terra is the same in hard ground but in airy ground better. Will be out again tomorrow but which machine is a ?
