  1. That's a nice seated Denny, worn and fertilizer-blackened like they are over on this stretch of dirt. 😀 I always think anything else I find after getting a nice silver coin is gravy, and that I could stop. I usually don't. 🤣
  2. If you bought the 11x13" coil, you get one with it. Got mine a long time ago and noticed it.
  3. Thanks Chase, I definitely don't want anyone to fear getting service, I'm simply stating the facts and any concerns as I see them. We don't have too many reports on service, probably because the Deus 2 is so darn good 🙂 Overall, this was a good experience. I probably should have made that clear. No bashing. 11 days was a good turn around, however I do believe I should have been emailed a notification that it was shipped. I certainly want to know an expensive item is coming to me and when, as is customary now. It's odd that I get a notice from UPS every time anything is coming to my address, except this one thing. 🤔 It just showed up. It's not an egregious thing that they didn't replace the plug despite the obvious wear, I'm merely pointing it out because I would have done that while the back was open. This is coming from 30 years of repairing and directing repairs of computing devices. 😅 Perhaps it's an unfair standard. Now that you mention it, using the old remote in the water makes more sense from a liability standpoint, and I do intend to use the same program on each on the land to see if there are any differences between one bought in February '22 and one bought recently. That could be interesting! 🙂
  4. I was looking for some stuff for the D2 today and came across this news on the machine: https://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/en/ba/the-blog/latest-developments-of-the-deus-ii-metal-detector.php When I bought my 11x13" coil I got the lower shaft with "CF" in a circle on it, I discussed it here and we all were like "nah"... But it was a bit lighter than earlier shafts and less flexible. Turns out I was right. 😀 Also, new RC units and WS6 units are shipping with glass screen protectors, I've seen the protectors but not the CF lowers as yet. Just a PSA. 😎
  5. It makes sense to me, but for some reason the plug is a separate part. You can clearly see the plug is well worn. Thankfully I have not as yet dunked the D2 or even used it in water without checking the plug unless I'm using the BH-01 bone phones.
  6. Fairly quick anyway, for me to go without my D2 is not an option, so I got a second remote, and I'm glad I did. It will be great to have 2 RC units when I travel if one has an issue, I also bought a second WS6. I think you might regret cutting the port cover off, but I understand. I always find this charging system annoying but still love the detector. 🙂
  7. Welcome to the "Dark Side", Dirtshark. 🙂 The D2 leaves your wallet as light as it is, but you will enjoy it for sure. 👍 I like the WSA backphones because they don't go over head cover. I'm the winter I wear a beanie that holds them down over my ears, and yeah I think they look kinda funny sticking out. A trick is to put them on, get them right on your ears, and then bend the backstrap down until it pulls them into your ears a bit. Check your version, you should start out on V2. It's not worth running the older versions if you're new to the machine. Enjoy! 🙂
  8. Science aside, ellipticals have a different feel than round coils. 🤔 I'm looking forward to what you think of it as well. 🙂
  9. Thanks Cap, Sure was a miracle, but I've not really looked where I found it. That button and buckle were nearby. 😀 Maybe another colonial pit stop 🤣
  10. Great hunt, Swiftsword! 👍 Here's some more info on your token: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces15446.html It has a rarity index of 36, I like Numista for that. Love the sword hilt and the razor, those are all in very good condition for the age. Odd to see a snake this time of year, that one probably didn't get the memo 😏
  11. I wouldn't bother with V1.1, I'd go right to V2. Much better overall including more sensitivity to small objects. Bump sensitivity did increase possibly for that reason. I have noticed it too, but the advantages of updating far outweigh the disadvantages. I'm sure you can find posts regarding V1.1 problems, V2 has a lot of improvements. Make sure you update your headphones as well. 🙂 The translation is fine for me! 👍
  12. Hey y'all, Want to tell you about my first repair experience with XP repair in Shrewsbury MA. Some background, one of the pins on the charging cord broke off in the center hole of the DIN jack making the RC difficult to charge. I bought a second RC fearing a long wait to get the first one repaired, and while it did take a short while I would have missed out on a couple of great hunts. I'm really glad I have two now. I called the repair center on the 12th of December (1-800-933-2897), printed the forms they sent me, packed it up carefully and shipped it insured for $1,000. Total for shipping was $25.15, $20 of which was for insurance. I would have received it on the 23d of December but I was out hunting, they did not send me any shipping notification so UPS could not get a signature. I finally got it today. I can certainly tell it was the one I sent them. 😅 The returned form says they replaced the charging port, it does look new, but although I hate to be picky they could have replaced the charging port cover as well. 😠 It's getting worn out and will cost me an additional $11 to replace. I'd have to remove the speaker grille to do it which might void the warranty. 11 days isn't bad, the remote functions as it should so far, and it was not initialized so my programs are still there. My only concern at this point is I hope that they did not compromise the IP68 water resistance, and that I can still dunk this sucker. Maybe I'll use the new one for that 🤔
  13. Thanks Ghound, It really is. 🙂 I've covered some of it so well however that there really isn't anything left but iron 😏 a spot I found early on was crisscrossed many times in just about every direction after finding cut 1 Reale (pistareen) pieces. There is a lot of trash in certain spots, there were two farmhouses out there a long time ago, both were pushed into the woods, and one a lot of the topsoil was pushed to the edge of a very deep ravine. I try to hunt those soil berms but they are heavily overgrown. I mostly hunt these spaces now at random on days when going to my larger and more distant permissions isn't a good idea. I may grid the place I found the half cent though 🤔
  14. Thanks Mark, I have about 100 acres of open farm out front, and about 300 acres I have permission to near that. Too bad I didn't start much earlier after we bought this house, but despite some unauthorized detecting there I have managed to find some great stuff. 🙂 While there are few to no rocks, no mineralization at all, and maybe 4-6" of topsoil before clay, the reason the soil is so nasty to coins is that over the last 250-300 years or so various fertilizers including fish have been used. It's incredibly easy to dig until it becomes dry. Chase has called it among other things a "Detecting Paradise" 😀 I doubt bronze or copper coins survive well in most any farm unless the soil is very sandy. That sand is another foot below the clay. 😏
  15. Yeah, but like real gold they're disappearing fast. 😵 Already wiped out one side of the road, subsequent detecting has not returned much.
  16. Thanks RVP, Couldn't get out yesterday when it was 60 for a return engagement, lots of family stuff. 🎅 Today and tomorrow rain, thought I would get away with it this morning but now shifting gear again to hit holiday sales and use gift cards. 😀 I might be able to get out Friday, the mud should be gone by then, Saturday will be even better. Definitely the second coolest find of the year, I was shocked. 🤯 Got new headphones (WSA II XL) and itching to get out there, maybe I'll put the mud boots on. 🤣
  17. @midalake, this is one of the ways to reduce falsing, I've done this as well, lowering Frequency Max from 40khz to 24khz in the General program (and maybe in Beach Sensitive). Thanks Lodge for reminding me! I really hope you like that coil, recommending someone having to pay $400 for a coil is a bit of a nervy thing 😅 But so far so good...
  18. Thanks kac, I hope this hobby never gets boring, but with all the possibilities here, I can't imagine it will. Buttons are still a favorite! I've got almost 400 years of history around me. You probably have as much. 👍
  19. There are a few different versions of this coin, one of the more valuable variants is the "No period" version which has no dot after "Georgivs". There are different counts of harp strings, all kinds of stuff, but I think this one would be rated MS-Worthless by PCGS. 😆 I think it probably wouldn't be worth the $100 to find out, as even better examples are only worth $50. I could probably dust it off some more and Renaissance Wax it to slow the bronze disease. 🤔
  20. The half penny would be worth quite a lot if it was in good shape, it's really just an interesting bit of history now. 😏 I'm glad to get anything at all!
  21. Good question, more likely, no. 🤑 But as there are only 6 of them known in existence, more likely I'll never find one.
  22. Yikes, sorry about that, but glad you have photos! 👍 I find Spanish silver here, but doubt actual Spaniards ever traversed the land here. This peninsula was discovered in 1606, so my 1607 KJ1 was probably dropped a bit later by someone in a subsequent exploration up the Potomac. Got his belt buckle and a couple of buttons as well. 🙂 Unless someone from England had some older coins in their pocket or coin purse, or Cap'n John Smith dropped some himself, that would be about it. 😀 This area was incorporated in 1648. One can dream... 😎
  23. Sorry NC, I misnamed the shovel, it's the Ranger. It has an 11" reach and a D handle, my personal preference: https://www.predatortools.com/collections/shovels/products/model-65-ranger I corrected my grevious error. 😅
  24. Well now I gotta ask, what IS your oldest coin, and did you get to keep it? 😀 I can only imagine what you can find with a PI, SMF only gets me there fast and shallow. Not too mention some of the old places you get to go. From what I've seen and know on this forum, the guys in PA seem to get more than any of us, MD is pretty good too. Guess that's where all the money was 🤣
  25. Thanks NC, It will be "hell yeah" day then for sure. 👍 We both have that as a possibility. My buddy wants me to now find the 1773 silver Virginia Shilling, that sucker is worth $50k. From a guy who has more than one Pine Tree. 😬 It's possible but not probable, we will see. I sure didn't expect to find either of the coins in this thread! 🤯
