I was a tech director for a school system for 20 years, built networks all over the northeast, and worked in IT in general for over 40 years, starting with IBM system 360 mainframes in the 80s. If I can get to a site it's up. I seriously doubt they missed the step of having enough server space after a year of development. Just so ya know 🙂 I was on it the whole time, and refreshed.

I found that even though my pinpointer was there, I had to reset the sensitivity and save it again on both the remote and WS6. No biggie. Probably because of the new (old) program.

Site is not down. I can get to it both on my laptop and phone. Let's not go nuts y'all. 🙂

Well that was fun! 😅 Updated all my gear to V1, and reprogrammed the Reaper. 😀 I'm sure I'll be adding flexibility later but I'm pleased it went ok. I've reprogrammed the remote, the WS6, two pairs of WSA-II headphones, and got everything back to good including 2 pinpointers which I find were still there after the update along with all my coils. 🤔 It was a bit fiddly and I had to repeat the process a few times but I kicked butt and took names. 😎 I used a crappy BAK laptop with windows 11, so don't say it doesn't work. It does have a USB 3 port tho. Brave Browser to block all the popups and ads. Go by this: "If it ain't black or blue it won't do." Air tested a bunch of rings and stuff and my my my, it seems to hit 'em deeper. More later. 🙂

I'd have to say that after investing nearly $3000 in the Deus 2, I'm still very pleased with it and all its accessories now that I own and have used nearly all of them for everything except gold prospecting, which is a small niche here in Virginia. Still waiting on word of an elliptical small coil. The D2 is by far the top detector in my region for relic hunting, and I'm seeing an increase of use at the beaches as well. It's easily more EMI resistant than others, and a joy to use all day, a relief for the aged. You pay more for the accessories to be able to walk when you get to your 70s. Don't like the arm cuff? Get a replacement shaft from a custom builder like you would for any other detector. Show me another company that makes a machine that comes with two detectors in the box. Show me another company whose coil can be duct taped to a walking stick or even handheld and still communicate with a waterproof remote. The D2 is the most versatile detector available. Oh, and show me another 5 year warranty while you're at it. I've dunked that machine in salt rivers and surf, and just spray it off with a hose when i get home. After a year and a half of salt and field abuse I have yet to see a speck of rust or corrosion on it, I don't use any sort of screen protector and the screen is still fine, some tiny scratches from sand. I've only broken a couple bolts from over tightening them so far. I'd rather have a $4 bolt break than a coil ear any day. I've taken a piece of coax and validated the claim that the WS6 remote can be used in the water up to a reasonable depth, and it's entirely possible that with enough coax it would reach the WS6 module in a water resistant bag on my arm should i want to dunk the whole shaft and coil. Haven't connected the bone conduction headphones to the WS6 yet, but that might even interest me. Heck with enough coax, you might be able to connect the coil to a submersible ROV with a camera, and sit on a paddle board! Your next problem would be digging what it finds. 😀 I've also found that the coil can be charged on the fly by connecting a light backup battery to it. There's a wonderful old maxim: "Don't knock it if you haven't tried it." To me, negative speculation is irrelevant from the uninitiated or inexperienced. The D2 is well worth the investment. I notice the OP is still going strong with his. 🙂

You and your wife scored some serious relics! 👍 The engraved Tombac is my favorite, and I've never found a shoe buckle as nice as that one. Lead seal is awesome. What a great opportunity to find enviable stuff in a historical spot! Bravo to both of you. 🏆 I appreciate the feedback on my crazy program, looks like your experience made the most of it. NC, back with the silvah!!! Nice. 👍 I've hit tot lots in campgrounds, lots of clad, a toe ring now and again, and earrings. Hot Wheels and other toys too. That's about it 🤷‍♂️ However, the grandkids love the toys and kiddie jewelry, one time I scored a $100 Disney tiara that went over well, granddaughter still wears it. 😀

Looking for that buckle brings up Kriegsmarine, a German navy buckle. 🤔 Is there a sub out in that desert? 🤪 Fascinating find in such a place.

That's an older button from England, lots of them weren't soldered all that well, as evidenced by the missing shank. Of course the shank might have been iron, but anomalies arise in the manufacturing process. Nice button, that would make me happy!

Welcome Zaj, I have a 600 and a Deus 2. It was difficult to wean myself from the Equinox especially after I got the Coiltek 10x5. I have a lot of old colonial sites here in VA, and have done very well in my 2 and a half years since I retired. This is a great place to talk about the more intricate metal detecting stuff for sure, and a great place to post finds, especially those one is not familiar with. You should enjoy it here, and we're look forward to your questions, input, and posts. 🙂

Thanks Doc, I keep mine as clean as possible and greased up, but it still sticks hard. I try not to over tighten it as it will squeeze the washer out. Square threads help a lot with that. I don't see any need for the red disc insert either. 🤔

I would like to see an upgrade to the extremely hard to remove and replace rear cap. Square threads and a bit tougher material would help. I've replaced one and bought spares. I expect to replace more on the MI-6.

This happens to me sometimes as well, I've found that it occurs when the detector is "busy", or detecting something. Not so much recently as I probably have subconsciously changed the way I do retrievals to avoid the pinpointer not connecting. It tends to connect better when fully charged as well, but these are speculations only.

I'm sure a more knowledgeable person will step in, but yeah, pennies 1982 and older hold up better than the new "Zincolns" that have much less copper. You'll see us disparaging them all the time. I throw out many of them because they're so corroded they won't take them at the bank. Shame that 🤔

Entirely possible, cool find. 👍 When i think of the term "ingot", this shape comes to mind: If you search using the term, that is mostly what you see, an oblong trapezoidal shape, presumably for stacking.

US nickels are 63-65, Zincolns are 80-85, depending on crust, but I've dug them in the 50s if they're really nasty. 😵 Older nickels, like Buffalo and V come up as low as 58.

I don't find many pewter buttons but i do find lots of Tombac buttons, they usually ID in the 40s. 🤔 It's possible that pewter would ID that low too.

Thanks for posting this, LC. I'm really pleased to see the program bringing old sites to life for you! 👍 In the second photo a button appears to be silver, if solid a rare find. Either way buttons are always a good find. I think the base premise of the RR program is to keep you from wasting time digging iron if you don't want to dig it, or to clearly identify it (size, depth) if you do. Even aluminum is identified most times by an upward or downward (or both) mid to high tone, same applies, you can dig it if you want. Always dig questionable stuff for experience and reference. No program is perfect. Once you Master the tones you're going to dig as much good as bad, I'd love to see some trash pics if you have them, you may well be at that point. Great hunt, looks like it's working out for you! 🙂 I'm working on a similar one for Beach, but the variables increase. One day pull tabs were in the 80s after a rain storm 🤣
