  1. Awesome Cap'n! Now all you need is the 11x13 🤣 And just so you know, that shorter D1 cable you put up a while back works very well with the D2, it's an underwater option. 🙂 Much shorter than the D2 waveguide and much lighter.
  2. Thanks RVP, This place was surprisingly cheap for a 9-day stay. We got there 2 days after spring break ended 😅 Heard it was a nightmare. Despite excessive prices for fuel, the park was only $60 a night. It's the largest campground on the East Coast. It has everything you could imagine and more, and is pretty quiet before Memorial Day. My wife and I like to hit someplace with palm trees and sunshine in April, been doing it every year for the last 15 or so. We used to go to Tybee Island, but kinda wore the place out. This was an 8 hour drive as opposed to 12, and a heck of a lot more friendly, with much more going on. Easy to get in and out with my huge RV. It was certainly a blast for me, and my wife enjoyed it too, she even told me to go out detecting when she was tired of going out. I've definitely done better on a camping trip but at least got a bit of just about everything. It was fun talking to other detectorists, I usually don't meet as many as I did there, and did way better than them as far as I know 🙂 I was really pleased with my Deus 2 program, and will be trying others in future exploits.
  3. Should be great to see what you do with it. As usual, genius. 👍
  4. Last spring Chase and I were detecting a field, and I walked down into a ravine to see what was there. Kept hearing this humming sound and wondered where it was coming from. Looked around and I was smack in the middle of a swarm of honeybees buzzing around some low flowering weeds. How I got out of there without getting stung is a mystery, guess they were busy 😅
  5. Yep, did that months ago, created a WS6 Master rig with the original Deus shaft, and put the remote on SteveG's fabulous CF Deus 2 shaft. 😀 Got the 13" and remote on the CF, and the 9" on the original. Even made it so I can dunk the 9" up to a few inches below the puck holder with a piece of coax. 👍 I have 2 pairs of WSA II headphones, one for each. I'll use the bone phones with the remote occasionally.
  6. Great find and great finds NC! 👍 Always cool to pick the great stuff out of the trash. Careful in there, probably a lot of glass too. Nice Barber. 🙂
  7. I've used the 13" in the water with a SteveG shaft, and it's slow motion and it works ok, but it would tend to flop without a centering device. I would much rather use the 9" or have an elliptical option as well. Not a water hunting fan overall. Feel like I'm on a planet with a heavy atmosphere. 😀 However, that is where the good stuff is. At least the 9" will make recovery quicker.
  8. Translated: "Several colleagues and I have them since they were recommended in the forum and no problem, both in the 600 and in the 800 and I also use them for the GPX 5000" 🙂
  9. Heavy cast brass breastplate, era unknown, 3 human figures with some sort of animal cavorting below a bearded head with outstretched hands.
  10. Cool, hope you can get a refund for the others. You know those earbuds won't work right even though they pair? Do another system reset on the Equinox, turn it on after the reset, press the WiFi/Bluetooth button, wait for the WiFi icon is replaced by the Bluetooth, then turn on the headphones , hang them on the detector and go do something for about 2-5 minutes. 🙂 Should work. When you get back they will be paired.
  11. Thanks Cap'n! I fail to see any difficulty in finding anything on the beach with the Deus 2, as long as it's set with little to no discrimination. I did not go far into the water, so I don't know about deep water performance, but it sure hit stuff in the wash. I got some really tiny bits of stuff too that gave great signals. I did notice what @midalake has been mentioning, that you will get tones and no or infrequent ID. If the tones were high for the most part, it might even be a quarter or dime a foot down. If all low it was mostly iron. Interestingly when I got a tone that was consistently ~5-10 or more, it was junk jewelry. The campground was totally open season, they would even let you hunt empty sites and all the tot lots. I saw people detecting their own sites. All they asked is not to disturb any occupied areas except the beach. I made sure to visit the "compliance officer", the park was way too big to speak to the General Manager. Being spring, it wasn't as good as I would have hoped, but yeah, I'm pretty sure I did a lot better than the others the way they were complaining 😏 BTW the 13" is totally awesome. 👍 I almost always got my good targets digging straight down. Aluminum tended to be on the side a bit sometimes, but at this point I wouldn't use anything else in the dry and wet, might go to the 9" in the wash and surf for somewhat faster retrieval.
  12. If the doors open and the interior lights come on, it will probably start. 😏
  13. Hey Yazman, I'm thinking of a couple reasons why you might be having trouble. Since I'm one of the people who recommend these, I'll give you my off-the-cuff thoughts: First is you probably should consider buying the new product rather than a refurbished one. The reason the headphones are refurbished may well be because they didn't work right in the first place. It's nice to save money but we're talking a need for a bit of reliability here. Second, make sure Bluetooth is turned off on your phone, or at least not present within 30-50 feet while you do the pairing process. Better to just turn it off temporarily. I also have a smart TV that interferes when I try to pair stuff, so I go elsewhere. HTH. i have two sets of these headphones and have not had a problem other than described. 🙂
  14. Great finds Doc, always good to see interesting stuff. 👍 Your toy pistol looks a lot like this one, someone wants a good chunk of change on eBay for it:
  15. Thanks Colonel, No need to salute or call me sir, I used to work for a living 🤣 There was a lot more to tell, even a "ring finder" with an Excalibur waving his coil 6" to a foot above the wet sand. Met some really nice folks tho. One detectorist complained to me that he wasn't finding anything, asked me if the beach was hunted out. I told him very nicely that holding his coil as high as he did and swinging up at the ends of each swing was the reason, he graciously thanked me for my advice, and went right back to swinging wrong. 😵 Wanted to try some new stuff (programs) but RV issues and constant weather changes kept me busy. 🙂
  16. Thanks, the kid was running so it was hard to get the cell phone trained on him 😏 Finding the small jewelry fairly deep told me if there was a gold ring it would have shown up unless it was very thin. I thought of you digging deep a few times while I was scooping those holes. 😀 Yikes, tossed all the change into my clad jar, I'll try to dig it out and take a look. 🤪
  17. Thanks man, Haha, think I told ya that right after the rain the pull tabs were ID'ing in the 80s. 🤬 They might as well be silver! The crab was almost low conducting panini toast as I almost stepped on it after poking it with the coil 🤣 thankfully it moved. I had a total blast, talking to people and making sure the other detectorists kept complaining. Every evening a couple of old guys came out swinging their detectors 6" above the dry, and I still hit a coin spill with about 8 coins of every denomination. What I was thrilled about was the D2 hit that thin tiny chain with a solid signal, a low conductor. I'd have used the barrette on Sammy if he was a female, Maltese dogs have to deal with that all the time. 🤣
  18. Thanks KOB! Talked to a detectorist who went up to the hotel strip, he said people were detecting all over, it cost $30 to park, and because of the time of year it was dangerous to be out there, few tourists and little security. He found some bling, but no gold. The beach was replenished within the last couple years, so the deeper green coins were a clue. Where I was you had to go in the water for the really good stuff. There was a trough out there that should have had some great finds. Maybe I'll try it next year.
  19. It's been a while, I also need to do a wrap up of relic season, but I went to Myrtle Beach for a week. I was hoping to score some high end stuff, but I was in the Southern campground district instead of the hotel strip. Spring break had just ended two days before we got there. The campground is enormous, more than 800 campsites and about 2,000 lease/rental houses. It also has about a mile of beach, and there are two more large campgrounds heading north as well as a couple large condo buildings. Each morning and most afternoons I got to hunt the beach at low tide, the tide is about 5 feet so it goes way out. There were 4 sections, High dry, trough as seen above, mid dry, and wet. The top 3 were all random finds, in the wet you could zigzag for a short time to the surf, and soon you would find a line of good finds. The best stuff was probably in the surf trough but I didn't go in the water, especially after seeing a kid running down the beach with a 3 foot shark in his hands to show his parents. 😀 Tried to get a good shot but all I got was this: I know, what shark? 🤔 You can see the hotel district in the background, never made it there, it was about 4 miles up the beach. Overall it was kinda disappointing, but still fun and I lost over 5 pounds over the week. I met other detectorists who were complaining instead of lying about the dearth of finds, I kinda had to laugh. I was using the Deus 2 with the 13" coil and a modified Beach Sensitive program done sort of like my Relic Reaper program. No disc, no notch, ears for discrimination. I knew from reading others' posts that there would be all kinds of crazy IDs and sometimes no ID, but I dug everything that sounded good. Thing was everything was deep for the most part. I got so I'd scoop at least 5 times not only to beat fill-in, but to get to the find which was usually in the 4th or 5th scoop, anywhere from 8-12" deep. Because using square full tones and turning on a find identifies almost all iron, I had no problem skipping it but dug some randomly either because it was close to the surface and dangerous, or just to check. I did find that low tones with IDs of 5 to 15 were usually bling jewelry. I also blessed the 'no beach tents' signs which kept stakes to a minimum. It was the only thing you couldn't legally do on the beach 🤣 Here's my Day 1 trash getting used to the place: Glad I got rid of that surface trap iron! This is my last days' trash showing that I got better but still watched for surface iron: Ok. Now for the finds: Crap finds Bling finds A small handful of junk jewelry including a tungsten ring, a stainless spinner, 3 earrings, a tiny ankle bracelet chain, and some earring parts. The best one is below, .925 with a big CZ. Big finds: A huge monster truck Hummer that was 2 feet down, a small toy car, sunglasses. An iPhone 13 and case that was about 6" under the surf and vertical, it would have been 6 feet under water at high tide so it is dead. A huge bling buckle found close to the surf about a foot down, I think it took 8 scoops to get it. It has rhinestones or CZs and is some kind of plated zinc. https://www.buckle.com/blazin-roxx-glitz-belt-buckle/prd-5491537906 Coins: 99 coins, oldest was probably 70s. The place was huge and so nice that we booked it again next year before leaving, my wife loves the local shopping and restaurants. Shame I couldn't get her a gold or silver ring. A few more gratuitous photos of the place: Cool spider crab
  20. I run my antenna wire under the WS6 through the bottom hole in the WS4/WS6 accessory holder. I do not submerge the WS6, but can immerse it almost to the holder. Make sure to strip the coax at both ends to the proper length and shrink wrap both ends. In my case I did not shrink wrap the end that goes to the WS6.
  21. A humble statement from the Pine Tree shilling guy 🤣 I'll never catch ya man, but it's fun to try. 👍 Can't believe the stuff you find. Props. 🙂
  22. Great to see some relics, Doggo. My season for that is pretty done, but having someone nail even one cool thing is vicarious pleasure. 👍 It ain't the machine, it's the operator. Bravo again. 👏
  23. Damn Doggo, you never cease to impress. Glad you're posting finds, and silver is always a winner. Heckuva ring! And over $4 is a nice bonus. It all adds up. Hard to say about old George, he was a pretty mellow but strong character 🤔 Congrats on some great finds in such a short time! 👍
  24. That's a real honor to be digging those buttons, congrats! Despite my area being settled very early, it was very much a farming community and I wouldn't be surprised if all hands had to be on deck at the farm so to speak. Your unknown button seems to have scrolls and tools on it, maybe a later quartermaster or historian? 🤔
  25. Looks to me like they are either studs for leather or those paper collars men used to wear.
