  1. Pretty sure whoever was with her would have objected 🤣 Very odd situation.
  2. I had hoped for a more pleasant reaction and interaction, but after being told by two people she was trouble, I guess it was for the best the encounter was short. I would have photographed the contents of the phone case (ID, credit cards) and the person who took it back. The staff didn't want to do it. 😀 We did briefly and in hindsight consider taking an advance reward at the casino, breakfast and some gambling perhaps. 🤔 I might have got more coins from a slot machine.
  3. Yes, not quite the fairy tale I envisioned. 🦄 Thought it might be amusing to show the cloudier side of recovery. 😂
  4. Nah I don't pick up bottles and flip-flops. 🤣 gotta have some standards 😎
  5. A funny thing happened at the beach today, I was to meet up with Chase at a local beach, one I now dub the "Beach of Low Expectations". I was detecting the beach cut in front of a motel, and saw a flip-flop, a half empty Corona bottle, and an iPhone. Sure enough the phone worked, and had ID and credit cards in a pocket on the case. I asked a woman nearby if it was hers, and she said no, but she thought it might belong to a woman who was very drunk and noisy on the beach the night before. I took the phone to the motel office and asked if the woman was staying there, and the manager said yes, the people were still checked in. She said I could bring it up to her room, and mentioned they were trouble. I decided to take it myself being the fearless individual I am 😏 Went to the room and knocked, once, twice, finally 5 times when I heard "GODDAMN IT" and someone coming to the door. It was the woman, nearly naked, not sure if she was wearing much at all. I tried not to look at anything but her face, first time someone looked better in their license photo than in person. 😀 I said "You might want this back", and that was all I could get out, she said "Thank you", took it, and closed the door. Yikes. 🤣 I went back out to the beach, Chase had got there, and I dug very little. 😵 .68, a copper arthritis ring (ID'd by my wife), and a bling earring. 🤷‍♂️ That was my Karma for returning someone's life. 🙄 We still had a fun day, the weather was great, and there were lots of nice people out there today. I think we did better than the other detectorists from what they said.
  6. Nice you got a "Bertie" coin, the son of Queen Victoria. 👍 I dug one of those a year or two ago. They're huge. Awesome amount of silver, they should have seeded some Zincolns to keep it real 😏 great hunt Cap'n!
  7. Very nice hunt Jeff, and you couldn't be more right about the coin capabilities of the D2. 👍 I have full confidence that if it is there it will find it.
  8. That's a heckuva story RVP, Thanks. I'll have to check that tick spray out. Best way to get around em is not expose yourself, but we can't hide in caves. 😀 Probably get them in there too. 🤔 Do you cross the knee pad straps? Initially I didn't, but now that I do they never slip. Top to bottom and bottom to top. Makes an "X" that keeps them in place. I use the more powerful LED lights, Thrunite, Nitecore and others. They're all over the house. 😀 Need a bright one here for those nighttime stalkers. 😬 I dig round-ish holes and brush the local "camo" over the plug when replaced. Only off center holes are a problem, but I do my best to mask them. I used Hawaiian Tropic 70 sunscreen at the campground, the deer flies didn't like it much, and I smelled like a coconut instead of a vile oily rag.
  9. Thanks Cap'n, I pitied myself the first couple days but then hunted smarter. Also grid searched the tent areas that were empty because of the bear, they were telling people about it. Tent areas are closer to the dumpsters where the bear visited nightly. The other surprise was the place I got a lot of coins last year, just kept hitting more. Something was happening in that spot where a lot of money was dropped. Looking at the old aerials shows nothing in particular. Could be that V1.1 is far superior to V.71 too. Even with the 13" i was able to pluck coins out of trashy areas.
  10. Thanks Mark, I really exceeded last year's total for coins there, might be an indicator of improvement in V1.1, or that I just got better. I was using the 13" coil, used the 9" a little bit but didn't notice any real difference.
  11. Thanks Chris, funny I didn't notice all the digging. 🤔 Some places it was constant too, I'd dig one and immediately find another. I wear one knee pad, it helps a lot. Lots of coin spills.
  12. Considering I dug around 300 holes in the place, I hope I'm giving detectorists a good name. They also appreciate me digging all the live ammo there. Didn't find any this time. 😀 RV campgrounds are awesome places, most haven't been detected. That is if you don't mind a lot of modern coins. 🤔
  13. Yes, around 30 of the 84 Zincolns I got were all in the same spot with the 8 keys. Can't imagine what that was about. They were all right next to a tree. About $20 in change total. Best part was the compliments I got from staff that they couldn't find any of the holes I dug 🤣
  14. Just got done laying out all the finds from my week long trip to a campground, it was an old hunting lodge and camp before it changed hands twice to become a full fledged campground. I was going to tumble the coins first but decided to do them and all the others I've found together. I've been here 3 times now, thought I hunted the heck out of the place but find I was wrong. I'm getting better as a detectorist, and now have a better detector, the Deus 2. 🙂 Probably a combination of both. Over the course of a week hunting anywhere from 3 to 6 hours a day, I got all the stuff below: 262 coins, oldest was a 1926 buffalo nickel. 3 rings, one is either gold plated or filled, estimated at 1950-1965. Got it pretty well cleaned up, it looks cast and has some gold solder where it broke once. Old script "V". The pictures don't do it justice, it's really shiny. Got a working hand torch, a cheap but working flashlight, an old duck call, keys, and some stuff used to make a bracelet. One 1930 wheat and a 1978 penny with what I think may be a laser hole in it, it's just too perfect. The only silver I got was the tiny iron cross on the earring. 3 very old buttons were the relics, one from the late 1800s and two much older. Quite a week.
  15. Colonel, thanks for this discussion and testing. I'm following this thread. Was this anomaly present in V.71? 🤔
  16. Seems like underground power to me. 🤔
  17. I have the original 😀 used it a lot, but the falsing in the higher sensitivities was annoying. It was great to "Finish" a dig, one time it alerted me to the silver ring in a hole filled with iron nails. The MI-6 blows it away for depth however. I have the F-Pulse, two carrots and two MI-6 pointers, the Quest doesn't compare to the MI-6, or at least it didn't. It's 3d to the F-Pulse. None of my other pointers find stuff faster or deeper. I'm going to give the Xpointer a go at a local beach soon, and then run it beside the MI-6 at Emerald Isle. We will see. 🙂 It's a great pinpointer, maybe the improved version will come up. 👍
  18. Just got mine yesterday too! Noticed right away it didn't go nuts when turned on in boost, even after waiting a bit. 😀 Great for verifying iron on relic and beach hunts. Can't wait to get out with it as an MI-6 backup. 👍 Dunno what I'll do with the old one. 🤔
  19. Nice hunt, JCR. Especially like the fancy buckle. I've had problems with upside down photos, I found slightly cropping them with phone upright avoids that issue. 🙂
  20. Thanks LC. While relic hunting and on some pebbly beaches I use a knee pad, trashed my kneecaps playing in bands doing lots of flashy endings. 😀 Only wear it on my right knee, for some reason I don't like using 2.
  21. Absolutely outstanding, PI-Man. 🏆 Not only did you beat my best by 4k each on two rings in one hole, you scored a diamond. A square cut diamond. 🥳 And a little over a year later. 😀 Seems this two ring thing is kinda rare! Hope the Deus is helping you stay out longer. And thanks for the ID's!
  22. Only had the problem a couple of times before the update, It's held the correct time since then. Mostly it has been spot on.
  23. Well good on ya for getting out there and braving the elements! 👍 That belt slide is so cool it hurts. 😎 Looks like it could use a polish and be put back to service. Might even be a tie clasp? My first experience with hearing lightning with the D2 was in Emerald Isle last year, even miles away over the ocean it crackled. Better than a 1965 quarter to signal the end of the hunt. 😀 If you can, try to get an estimate in mm of the coin you dug last. That helps identify them sometimes, but many of the memorials I dug this past week had been eaten away enough that they looked like dimes. I'm going to tumble the lot for my recap 😀 Just looked at your photo, and i can clearly make out the letters "LIBE" circled in the photo. 😀 Methinks it a Memorial or wheat.
