  1. Welcome Dounix, I've been detecting for 4 years now, and my first detector was a Garrett Ace 400. πŸ˜€ I've been to Belgium, beautiful country, people were very nice to us in the military. Talked to someone recently from there, wonder if it was you. πŸ€” Looking forward to your exploits with the Apex, I wanted one of those but it was advertised and had not got to the shelves. Bought an Equinox and did well with it, now I use an XP Deus 2. Best of luck to you, and within legal limits let's see some finds! πŸ™‚
  2. Wow, as usual, the Cap'n gets the goods. Great photos, and your whole group of finds has that Western zip to it! You also spin a great story. πŸ™‚ Your badge is intriguing, that looks like the Spanish lion found on their old currency. I'd take a pencil and do a rubbing to paper of the text on the back, might get a sure ID. Tried to get something out of Lens, and all I got was Spanish coins. Fascinating stuff! Heck of a dig. πŸ‘ Were I you, I would bring my off road lawnmower out there. πŸ˜€ I've done that a few times.
  3. Yeah poor Nox, I do take it out now and again, but the handle is glommy and it weighs a lot more. πŸ€” One thing I always disliked was the hand and arm cramps after 6+ hours. Might take it camping next week. πŸ™‚ one thing it does well is hit the gold. Thanks RVP, I'm not worthy. πŸ—‘οΈ Last 3 hunts at that beach only produced one silver object, and no gold. πŸ™„ appreciate the title tho πŸ˜€
  4. Nice one Okara! You really put in the persistence on that one. πŸ† Probably not thinking about it helped. Great story!
  5. Thanks man! It's kinda embarrassing finding toy cars instead of gold rings, but I'm not in a location that produces a lot of that. πŸ˜€ Yeah, the Deus really hits em hard, all the way down to 15" or more as I recall. πŸ€” When the grandkids come by they are always interested in what I find, and sometimes I'll give them stuff if it's of real interest. The parents kind of roll their eyes, both families live on property i'd love to hunt πŸ™„
  6. Welcome! Toano is the name of a town not too far away. πŸ€” seems like you've got quite a collection then, especially if you're from that area. Good luck on your adventures and post some finds! Looking forward to it. πŸ™‚ This is the place to be if you're serious about your new EQX 900. I've only been detecting for 4 years now, but have amassed a pretty good collection of really old stuff. Relic hunting is a blast.
  7. Thanks. πŸ™‚ we're not looking at anything on this side but severe storms, and they don't really do much more than flood. This place never ceases to surprise me, from the old coins brought in with the new sand to the strange drops by tourists. πŸ€ͺ I've found the dollars before but never two in the same spot.
  8. Thanks Cap'n, Lots of fresh drops at this place, getting there early gets the jump on the others. Someone hit the big beach, but ignored the other two. I have a feeling they made a mistake. 😏 It wouldn't have been as great a hunt if I didn't stay a while longer and look in some places I usually don't.
  9. Thanks, SGD! I envy those who can dive, it's something I've never done, and at 63 I probably won't try. 6 hours in that heat was a test, a breeze came up later when a front came through but the temperature shot up to 94F. About an hour or two after I left it the beach was hit by severe thunderstorms that produced tornado warnings when they crossed the river. 😬 I retired early so I at least still have some health and am crazy enough to bear the hot weather. I'm pretty sure diving at this place would produce some great finds, it was a busy Steamboat landing in the 1800s. The bottom of the river is silica silt with few rocks. That is both good and bad because gold would sink pretty deep. Another problem with diving might be the Naval Weapons Center close by, the patrol boat was out again yesterday keeping boats away from the area. They blow up all kinds of stuff underwater. πŸ€” Might be rough on the ears.
  10. Hmmm, I could trade you this Lankybox toy I found, I see them on eBay for as much as $100... πŸ€”
  11. Thanks VL, No idea why I'm finding so many Hot Wheels, it must be a thing with kids now to bury them. The swans were probably looking for them too. 😁 there were lots of Mother and baby ducks along the river edge, I should have got closer to them for photos. This new phone camera kinda sucks. I dug some of the previous cars at almost 12", one was about 15" but it was big. I've hit some coins at that depth as well, usually quarters but also dimes. Yesterday my deepest coin came from the surf line at about 8". It was the nasty looking quarter. I have to wear shoes on this beach because of the pebbles, got a bit of neuropathy so it hurts to wear sandals when the rocks get in them. The coil is the 11x13" elliptical Deus 2 coil. Nice thing is I have found I can use a Beach Sensitive based program both in and out of the water, and still hit stuff pretty deep in the water. A day wearing waders is forthcoming, but by the time it gets cool enough to wear neoprene I'd probably need a PI to get the gold. 🀣
  12. Welcome and hope to see you find some of those Revolutionary War relics! πŸ‘ What detector are you using?
  13. Cool tool and great finds, AMW. Really appreciate seeing relic/coin hunts this time of year. πŸ‘
  14. Nice pendant, it's a Tree of Life, if you're interested. πŸ™‚
  15. Thanks! When I was a kid I used to change those fuses in our old 1921 house, the box was in the damp basement. Surprised I never got shocked putting one in. πŸ˜€ It was a shock however, to find so many quarters and two dollar coins in one spot at a beach. 🀯 What the heck was going on?
  16. Shame on me for running this so close to my other post, but I went to my local big beach (1 hour drive) again today using the Deus 2 with my "Hoover" program, which is now turn on and go, except when there is black sand in which case I turn down audio response to 1. Got up at 5am to be there by 7, and met my goal. Nobody was there, not even walking the sidewalk. Tide was going out, and there was no wind at all. It was about 72 when I got there, but in two hours it jumped up to 82 and humidity was 80%. Now I understand why y'all in Florida don't get out even when it's 82. 🀣 Absolutely brutal. I hacked around the smaller of the beaches but the most popular first, there are a few stores and restaurants so it gets the most traffic. Lucky for me I did that because the bigger beach had been hit hard, I almost found nothing there later. Found a few coin spills and some Hot Wheels of course. πŸ˜€ I went to the bigger beach and by that time the tide was out, lowest tide I've seen in a while. Got sick of zigzagging the high beach, there were holes everywhere, and some of them not filled in. 😡 The only thing that amused me here (it was about 92 then) was this sand castle Chichen Itza: I ran the entire shoreline at the water which was full of jellyfish and got some junk and maybe one coin but nothing to speak of. Coming back along the first beach I got some small jewelry, and wished I could get in the water because that's where the good stuff is. By then people were coming to the beach (not many, first day of school here) and a couple kids got nailed by jellies, so that wasn't an option. Went to the other side of the casino, found some coins and talked to some nice folks, even recommended a detector to a mom whose kid is interested in detecting. Told her to get him a ML X-Terra Pro. πŸ˜€ After reading what y'all write about that detector I may ask Santa for one 😁 But I love my Deus, and you'll see why. First the trash, low tide is really weird here, why would anyone bring an old antique fuse to the beach? πŸ€” Not much crap for 6 hours of hunting, pull tabs sound like pull tabs, and bottle caps aren't even a thought. For some reason though, pull tabs in the water are 71+ but 63-65 on the beach. πŸ€” they're still brassy sounding but I always check the ones I see so I can say with a fair amount of confidence that I can skip them for the most part. Now the finds: 45 coins, two Hot Wheels, a small toe ring (plated copper), and a plated earring with a fake opal. I had decided to stay another hour, and it was a good thing I did because about 16 of the coins came from one spot, including 2 one dollar coins: A John Adams and a Sacagawea dollar. πŸ₯³ At first I was just getting 93 after 93, and then sometimes 95 and 98. The 13" nailed them all, and I didn't leave that 3x3' spot until there wasn't even an iron tone πŸ˜€ I think I got a nickel and a dime there too. What a way to end what was kinda a boring mundane hunt! Got another couple dimes and left. Here's a gratituitous swan photo:
  17. Thanks RVP, haven't seen many beach posts at all this summer, so somebody's gotta do it to inspire. πŸ˜€ No matter how meager or disappointing. 🀣
  18. Thanks Cap'n, It seems like it's finding everything there is to find. πŸ€” Going back tomorrow hoping to do a little better. Noticed from going to my small beach today (skunk) the water is getting colder, and there were almost no jellyfish so I might try the shallows as well. Same river but 50+ miles southeast. Who'd a thunk I'd pay for the Deus in toy cars? Might take a while. 🀣
  19. This post is a bit late, it's been a hot and busy week. Got out last Monday at 6am to go to my local big beach, should have been pretty packed because the kiddies go back to school tomorrow. Glad I got out of education before the summer got cut short. 🫀 My first surprise was that they raised the parking rate from $2 an hour to $3. Probably explains why there was no one there. No detectorists or people. πŸ€” It wasn't too bad a day, didn't get all that hot, but for quite a while I found nothing. I zigzagged the upper beach, even grid searched some sections, and the finds a started trickling in. I hit a Hot Wheel burial, and found a few coins. Came back along the surf line and did a little better. Here's all the trash: Just some odd bits and oddly enough some brass. And the finds, 5 more toy cars, two lighters, two earrings, a sizable child's ring, an aluminum pencil sharpener, a massive junk chain that gave a really odd brassy iron signal, and about $2.50 in coins. The hoop earring on the left turned out to be silver, .925 from Italy. So there's that. 🀣 In 3 weeks I've found over 20 toy cars, is this a sign? πŸ€”
  20. If you want the most for your money the Deus 2 is by far the best choice. And you're supporting your country's workers πŸ˜€
  21. "Hello thank you sir, but I was not talking about implant but wifi wave?" The Deus 2 coil would be the strongest signal, and requires a waveguide to transmit through water. Unless you cannot use a cell phone or computer for medical reasons, I would not worry about the Deus 2. πŸ™‚
  22. Welcome to the forum! I have a Deus 2. Not sure why you would be sensitive to waves but I have a pacemaker and have had no problems. It is my second one and the first was not affected either. If you have a heart or other electronic implant you should consult your physician, but they will probably not know for sure. In general most new electronic implants have to be designed to shield against cell phones, the Deus 2 isn't more powerful than that. πŸ€” Don't detect your implant! πŸ˜€ Keep your coil to the soil.
  23. I don't blame you at all for not changing to V1.1, my favorite relic program has to be redone when relic season begins here. I've learned a lot from V1.1 beach hunting and will try to "translate" some of that to the Relic program I will create. Again a learning curve 😏 I should have got some summer relic permissions but it's been too hot here. πŸ₯΅ Instead I have been enjoying onshore wind from the water πŸ˜€ Looks like you have "Mastered" the WS6! πŸ†I want to use mine more, and with the new version there is much to learn.
  24. Incredible hunt, those are finds we in the USA could only dream of. I agree with RickUK that your detector is finely tuned. Are you using V1.1? What program are you using? Much of your trash looks like musket balls and bullet shells, interesting in themselves. Hunting relics or war, or both? Sorry to ask so many questions but this is the most fascinating post in quite a while. We don't get to see many finds from over there. πŸ€”Often for good reasons. πŸ˜€
