  1. Steve, i think i caught most of your older posts on fors gold, seem to remember one which said to grab the core not the gold, one less setting for gold. I havent seen a whole lot on the fors models lately, have you got many hours with it this year.
  2. Mmmmm..both are beautiful, and far more appealing then the local snow-dusted mountains here.
  3. Seems in my perusing today i caught a figure that said something to the effect of 40+% of corp. m.l. earnings was military, sounds like alot of f3s await new hands in future.... i m just sayin....
  4. Chris, I appreciate facts. i also didnt think i was dreaming it would be anything above average for gold as it is a Mine detector. I might even hold out hope for that gold end-cap for the machine to make it. that much more sensitive. ? Ya never know (pleasing machine owners sells machines i would think) As i have not had a chance to study this further, so i have no idea about the abilities for modification of this unit. Perhaps for m.l. it would be very easy to enhance with certain programming changes i dont know. if they Could do this rather cost effictively(if even possible) it creates another revenue stream, pleases a minelab f3 owner, and perhaps utilizes a machine a little more. Once again, thanks for the engaging reply, as most any feedback is good feedback. Happy hunting.
  5. Well, the decision has been made; one more detector is joining the family(at least temporarily). I didn t get chance to start test garden today- windy as hell. tomorrow i head up the hill to set corner posts at first claim, so probably another week before i get to garden. will shoot out some f3 info/opinions as soon as i can get my hands on it.
  6. (Got it figured out, woot-woot) Thats refreshing, would have thought something that large would been found by now. It would be interesting to see what its value could be, being one of a handful. Continued prosperity to you, friend.
  7. Chris, My, you are a pot of joyful news! NOT... But...., i expected this, and you are right. i sure would like to find that super-bargain to give that little better chance at sucess. i wouldnt expect minelab to just sell the parts, but certainly they realize that as these become available people will want to maximize its real ability. i would have no problem sending it in to hq. for retro-fit for reasonable amount. And yes, of course its surplus.. who would pay retail for this machine given the options? Like i stated earlier: waterproof, compact, tough, pi machine- all for under 600 shipped in. Thanks for info though, be well.
  8. that is FRICKEN awesome. I envy you fellas in goood gold-hunting ground. I guess that just means more rewarding/appreciative the out-of-state trips should be.happy hunting.
  9. I could not agree more. i would love to see video of how they actually did it a century ago.
  10. Only asked abt details cause phone not playin video.
  11. I wil figure out the quote and post thing... sometime... how deep was it? Middle o nowhere or in heavy trash? Supercool!
  12. Well, hit the search engine-didnt learn much more. maybe i can purchase 2300 internals for swap into f3 housing. Does anyone know if these can be reprogrammed to 2300 specs. Shouldnt be much diff. in internals, no? i think im gonna have to buy. I TOLD YOU GUYS I WAS AN ADDICT.. LOL.
  13. Sweet find Ron, and remarkable shape for 165 y.o. artifact.
  14. Seems from what i have read this could be good for me. waterproof, as good as my sd2100 at gold?, and compact. mods- dectormods.com i think i saw somewhere in my quick review, havent looked yet. More to follow.
  15. Well, i got very little swing time in not enough time to reach any concise results. i think i am going to build a dedicated test garden.
  16. Thanks Norvic,Lunk, & Steve. I think i will have to do that Steve, load-up gm 2, gmt, fors gold and borrow dads gb 2. No 705 to test. no golden hawk either. I will try to get this done today(got to get video off to Dilek abt fors issue anyway)so maybe video both. Dont quite understand my video uploading processes yet, so might take a couple days for me to complete. btw-prospecting is main focus of desired machine.
  17. I probly would have been home that night too. I can understand your desire to be mum on the finds subject, and thanks for sharing. i too agree that these events should be recorded- little clues for future generations. great to hear that it is possible to score big over the next hill.
  18. Ok guys, i am in need of more input. i own fors and gmt amd vsat. i havent had chance to use 705 yet. i have very little time on any given machine as well. terrain- small gold, med to high hot rocks, b.i.f., Trying to narrow down primary candidate. Could golden hawk b in running? Dad has gb 2 its not going anywhere soon.
  19. Ooohhhhh.. this is cool, now the trouble is gonna be findin the time and gas money for all these events. Ha ha.. rye patch, amra outings, apache junction. so many choices. Thanks guys.
  20. Gollum, thanks for info, as these types of events are something i would like to go check-out.
  21. Holyf*******it, that my friend is the stuff of my dreams, i think i would piss down my leg if i located a specimen like that. Congrats.
  22. After my post this morning abt the events i got to thinking; this website has already got to require a commitment of time and i am asking for something that may require additional time invested, isn t he doing plenty just by hosting this site? This thought stuck with me all day and led me to create this post. THANK YOU STEVE for creating and running this website I sincerely appreciate the enrichment it has given and the knowledge it has given/helped spread. I applaud you, and you have my respect.
  23. Looks like it a good thing you dont have to pack the cat around all day, might make detector seem flywieght. lol. nice pic.
  24. Steve, Have you considered a events page where person could find out about seminars, outings, group events? I would be intetested in knowing about such things. Thanks-Therell
