  1. That's what I was thinking as well. When the IF and its stability settings were introduced on the Legend, my testing showed the default level of the IF to be too high. Although, I can understand why Nokta chose a high default IF. I also found with the amount of IF settings, the IF stability was unnecessary, and causing needless confusion among many of the Legend users. I also found that very little iron falsing occurred even on the lowest setting of the IF. I wanted an even lower IF setting. With all that said, I, and a few others made a lot of posts on the Legend's Facebook page, about the IF needing to go even lower, and how the IF stability wasn't necessary. Well, we got a lower IF setting for the Legend, and it looks like the preset IF on the Score models is lower than the Legend's default IF.
  2. Thanks for the share Jeff. It's interesting that the detector passed the level 4 tests right out of the box, but Iffy had to tweak the Legend, Manti, and D2, to pass those tests, if they could be hit at all. Yes Matt, it was very odd to see a bunch of the coil wire lying right on top of the coil. Would it matter much though, as long as that coil wire wasn't moving? That beautiful dog looks like my wife when I talk to her about metal detecting! Although she perks right up when I bring home the goods 😁
  3. I don't think the Voyager is using Minelab technology. Reason being, the video I posted in which the Voyager is missing deep targets, that Simplex Lite could hit even with a much smaller coil on it. Or maybe the tester had a bad unit? Or maybe it's Minelab technology, but extremely neutered.
  4. That's an interesting point Northeast. I asked AI about the difference in manufacturing costs between Malaysia and China: So, if Minelab can get much lower production costs in China, that probably means they'll reduce the prices on their detectors 🤣
  5. The Legend's gain goes high enough as it is, so I would think Boost mode means extra transmit power. BTW- Nokta uses the term "Boost Mode". A user started the Beast Mode thing, and it caught on.
  6. Voyager doesn't have a rechargeable battery, and it's not submersible. The Simplex Lite has a rechargeable battery and is submersible. The Voyager does not sound like a Minelab detector. Given that, along with no rechargeable battery, and poor depth, I'm thinking the Voyager is a Minelab branded, but Chinese built detector.
  7. I came across this short comparison video. If you can't, or don't want to watch the video, the outcome is that Simplex Lite easily beats the Voyager for depth, even when the Lite is using a much smaller coil. I first thought the Voyager was a Chinese knock off, but nope. It's on Minelab's site. MINELAB XTERRA VOYAGER VS NOKTA SIMPLEX LITE...WHO WINS THE BATTLE FOR UNDER $200 - YouTube
  8. 🤣 Well, at least you're honest about it! Which is in stark contrast to some of the Manti owners claiming their ID plotter "2D screen", can differentiate between aluminum trash and gold jewelry. It seems delusion, wishful thinking, and confirmation bias is still a thing.
  9. There's exceptions to just about everything. But ya, arrogance and complacency that allows the competition to run over them. Examples such as Kodak and the big three N.A. automakers.
  10. Probably the same reason why the top notch electronics and cars aren't coming out of the USA.
  11. By joining a metal detecting forum, you've already started down the rabbit hole 😁 Welcome!
  12. You call your detailed and thorough response "lazy" Chase? Heck, all I was going to write, was: "I'd take the SMF for more accurate target identification and ground condition versatility". 😄
  13. I just watched the crazy lady in the video Steve posted. Just when I didn't think things could get any more dumb and delusional, I read this comment below the video: 🤦‍♂️ What's her next video? "How to make magical pixie dust"?
  14. So Minelab has declining sales, much of which is due to new competition, and they raise prices? WTH? That's the opposite of what a company would do under those circumstances. Perhaps Minelab knows something we don't?
  15. A toonie? That's a Canadian $2 coin, made partly of ferrous metal. I suspect that nickel is as well. Switch to a high frequency SMF mode or high frequency SF mode, and they will hit more consistently on the ID and 2D screen. EDIT: Chase posted pretty much the same thing as I was writing up this post 🙂
  16. Hi Goldbug. I have a lot of experience with the Legend, but not for gold prospecting. I suggest reading the manual thoroughly, watch videos, and practice in your yard. The Legend and similar detectors have a vast array of settings and features. As such, take your time and have patience. Otherwise, you may get overwhelmed. A member here named Jeff McClendon has gold prospecting experience with the Legend. Hopefully he will chime in 🙂
  17. Hi Mark. When it's fully charged, the red and green lights will stop flashing, and the green LED will go solid. Charge time will depend on your charger. Mine took about 10 hours to fully charge, but I used a low power charger when I first charged it 2 years ago. I have a much more powerful charger now, but I don't how fast the battery would charge now, because I've never had to use the auxiliary battery.
  18. Wait, wait, wait... I had the Tek Point and loved the depth. I returned it, because nothing I did stopped the maddening falsing. I ended up concluding that it was defective. Now, I'm not so sure it was defective. Are these PI pinpointers well known for falsing?
  19. I assure you that in no way am I taking you for a Nokta hater. Rather, I'm looking at the situation in an objective manner. "Seeing the big picture" so to speak. On a side note, I did have the Tek Point at one time, and when it comes to depth, the PI pinpointers smoke the VLF pinpointers. Problem was, most of the time my Tek Point was going nuts in the air and in the ground. I tried everything in the book to remedy it. I even tried different locations and turning off my Legend. All of it to no avail. Turned out, it was defective right out of the box. My hunting season is pretty much over now, but come spring, I'm either going to get the Accupoint, or get another Tek Point.
  20. Nope. I don't have one. It's the first run of a new product, and for whatever reason, pinpointers are a finicky product to make. Given those two aspects, I wouldn't be surprised if a few are defective. Put it this way, if there were inherent issues as you described, then after the NDA, the main Legend's Facebook page, etc, would be filled with those complaints. Yet, that didn't occur. Nor did it occur on any other social media site.
  21. There's real life dirt videos on YouTube. Here's a couple of them: NOKTA LEGEND (FIELD HUNTING Can It Be Relied Upon?) ACCUPOINT (NOKTANANA) METAL DETECTING PINPOINTER - YouTube First Hunt with the Nokta Nana - YouTube I would be really surprised if Nokta put out a pinpointer that had poor depth and heavy falsing. Plus, I've read and seen pretty much everything out there from testers (including off the record testers). Not one of them reported depth or air falsing issues. The only complaint was pairing lag, but Nokta fixed that with the update. So, given that so far, you are the only one experiencing those issues, then isn't it a possibility that you may have a defective pinpointer?
  22. Of the many written reviews and video reviews, that's the first I've heard of complaints regarding depth or falsing. Maybe you have a defective unit? Do you have highly mineralized ground? Did you try a frequency shift to see if the falsing stops?
