  1. I dug a shield nickel yesterday with an in the ground VDI of 58 (at 24khz max) which I thought was pretty low. I’ll definitely test some samples when I get home. Thanks for the info
  2. I did a quick hunt with the new version. I’m quite happy with it so far. Full tones is very reactive and Hi-Square is much more “informative” than the original square. So much to play with
  3. We finally have an update but can’t actually have it. It’s like they put up the grail shaped beacon.
  4. There are some really interesting features to play with such as max frequency. I know what I’ll be doing after work!
  5. I like old posts finding relevance again, and or providing insight to those reading from past to present looking for real answers. I bought the deus 2 on ore-order, and I’d do it again at the good dealer price I got it for ($12xx). I hunt old foundations filled with iron and this machine is able to sniff out the good stuff among it all. You just need to be willing to experiment, observe, and learn. Give any detector those opportunities and you will have success. Give a great detector those opportunities and you’ll never stop being surprised.
  6. Mine is always super tight as well. I was a machinist and am now one of those darned engineer guys and I wonder if the issue is the material and tolerance more than the thread pitch or shape if threads? I’m with you though F350. square threads are a better fit for repeated hand loosening/tightening cycles. The trade off is that they don’t hand tighten to a seal as well though.
  7. It would also be nice to locate it on the Go Terrrain app. 😀
  8. You choose vibration or no vibration in the mi6’s menus system. However the audio will match the audio of the program that you are running on the deus control unit.(either square or pwm). Also you control the mi6 sensitivity via the control unit.
  9. That’s an incredible find. I’ve been searching for a match and haven’t found an exact one, so I’m glad you got a confirmation! Epic display find for sure!
  10. I clipped the band of my bone phones and glued the noisy bits inside a cheap set of shooting muffs I had. One of these days I’ll buy a good setup but this works pretty darn well for the little bit of water detecting I do.
  11. Disc IAR is only available in gold and relic. One thing that helps train the ear with the deus is the XY screen. It for the most part displays what you’re hearing. Not 100% but it can help.
  12. The red plug will allow pressure to build in the control box if it’s out in the hot sun or in a hot car for example. The safe bet is to put the black plug in when you’re done diving, but I’m guessing it would be fine with the red plug all the time as long as you keep it out of the heat.
  13. I’ll definitely try that. Thanks
  14. I experimented that day with various settings and techniques and the 9” always gave a cleaner false than the 11. It’s just something interesting I noticed and wanted to share.
  15. I have used the 11” coil since I got my machine from ore-order however long ago that was. I got pretty used to the sounds and VDI variability of large or flat iron. I just got the 9” and have been trying it on my heavy iron sites, but noticed a notable increase in iron falses. Not just in sound but also in solid VDI’s with every setting and mode possible. To confirm it wasn’t just that day’s ground conditions, I put the 11” back on and went over the same spots. The 11” also sounded off on the iron, but didn’t give as pure a VDI or tone as the 9”. I have no conclusions, just wanted to give my observations. 🤷‍♂️. I’m also willing to accept the brand of crazy person for this. 😀
  16. I’ve been spending some time with Relic and have been very impressed with its abilities in situations as you described. Definitely an underutilized program by me. General is on my list for experimentation.
  17. And I also hope it’s not 0.72! But if it is at least our custom programs should migrate over during the update😀
  18. I frequently experience vdi’s of 7 or 9 (never 8 ) with good non-ferrous tone. Some have been small iron with a small or thin non-ferrous, and some have just been very small iron with some symmetry In their shape. And that is regardless of tone choice other than full tones. Full tones just doesn’t know how to act or react yet. It’s like a hyperactive teen at his first job. However in Deep HC, small or large iron will false in both VDI and tone running stock discrim , but lowering the descrim will make that same target false in tone but read a 7 or 9 VDI. I haven’t noticed that in any other program, but I haven’t dwelled too much on it.
  19. It’s possibly a livery button. The bird may not be an eagle, as many livery buttons or crests feature anything from ostriches to sparrows. Very cool find and I hope you let us know when you ID it.
  20. PWM definitely plays better with my damaged ears. Tone variations are much more pronounced to me with PWM whereas square variations blend together if I can even discern a variation at all.
  21. That area is definitely in the eastern gold belt. I’m in western PA where there may be a spec or 2 if you’re lucky, but I still enjoy the thrill of the find. Mostly I enjoy showing the few specs I get to my friends and family just to prove I’m not crazy. I plan to head down to the Rappahannock river for a weekend this spring to do a little recreational panning and hopefully detecting if I can. The campground owner says I’m welcome to do both, but I’m pretty sure I’ll have better luck finding gold and old bullets at a local pawn shop 😀. Should be a nice weekend away with my wife at least.
  22. Good to know it did well in that dirt. I hope to get down that way sometime to detect and maybe pan for a little flour gold.
  23. The brass piece is most likely a part of a clock. I find lots of those in mid-late 1800’s sites. I’m not real sure about the iron piece.
