  3. White's Electronics is having their fall Garage Sale that features some deep discounts on select products. There is one deal in particular that nugget hunters may want to be aware of. The White's Sierra Gold Trac was a Jimmy Sierra limited edition product not carried by regular White's dealers. They were only sold by a few west coast dealers and White's themselves never really promoted the machine. That makes them a rare item, and with Jimmy now having left the scene it looks like White's wants to liquidate the remaining units. I only bring this all up because the SGT is basically a stripped down White's GMT with only two control knobs - on/off/gain and threshold. That's it. the detector runs at 48 khz and is locked full time into ground tracking mode. There is no discrimination. Just a hot on tiny gold all metal detector. I did up a product page on these for historical purposes since there is so little information on them. Normally sells discounted for $369.95. White’s Sierra Gold Trac (SGT) Data & User Reviews Review by Mike Hillis White's Electronics Sierra Gold Trac Metal Detector All Metal Operation: Hear all metal targets. Can be used with any Goldmaster Series (48 kHz - 50 kHz) Search Coils. Optional Accessories (Sold Separately): NiCad Rechargeable Battery System Two Year Transferable Warranty MSRP $399.95. 4. I dont know if this has been posted before - I just found a minelab sub-website, which lists some service parts and their numbers for various minelab machines including the equinox: http://parts.minelab.com/default.asp Equinox 800: http://parts.minelab.com/category-s/256.htm
  5. The first forum I ever frequented was the Alaska Gold Forum hosted by Jim Foley. After many years the forum appears to have shut down permanently, though a replacement format is in the works. I just got this email from Jim Foley: "Subject: Forums Down Permanently" "Email is the only way I have of communicating about the forums. As I expected and told everyone some time ago, something strange has happened at Best Boards whereby the owner could not be contacted and no one seems to know what happened to him. Consequently, with no one at the helm the boards would go down at some point. This is that point. Now there is only a message that the account has been suspended when anyone tries to access the forums. I am sending this email to everyone I have an email address for, which is not everyone registered on the forums. So, if you will, please spread the word that the forums are down, I know about it and they will not ever come back as they were. I am actively working to find, download and publish new forums. They will not have the same look , but will be fully operational and easy to use because I will make sure that any forum format I choose will be the best available. Please spread the word to anyone you have contact information for. I will send another email to this email list with a link to the new forums once I have new forums online. I hope to see you all online again in the very near future. _____________________________ James Foley Administrator Alaska Gold Forum"
  6. Another forum member was wondering what the price of the new Goldmaster 24K might be in Australia. In the course of researching that, I see Goldsearch Australia is closing down. Does White’s have any other dealers in Australia?
  7. What a world of difference of the level of service in the new Pa. location from Florida.I was having s lot of static and signal breakup on the wireless Avantree phones I had for my 600.I first thought it was the phones but alter testing a second pair it was clear it was the machine.Contacted the service center and they sent me a shipping label for UPS so it was no cost to me.I sent it in on a Wed. and they had it on the bench on Friday,They could not find the issue at first,so Jamie went out a got a pair of non-minelab phones and had the same issue I had.He replaced the control pod and I had it back the next Wed. .The difference from when I sent my CTX to Florida was night and day. What a great change for the better!!
  8. I don’t post on the White’s forum and some of you know about this already. They have this guy by the name of Jeremy and Tom is calling him Senior System Network Admin. Tom made this statement that he takes the customer service side of things to the next level. I’m not sure to what level that he has authorization to do anything but maybe in time he’ll come on here . When he so desires he just may be willing clarify this further. Chuck
  9. How many characters is a holographic Minelab identification code would be best if it was a GPZ?
  10. In spite of having no particular interest in the link which someone posted on another forum to Minelab’s announcement of establishing a repair facility in France, I looked at it anyway. Buried three paragraphs down in this announcement from Minelab about a new repair facility in France was a “gold nugget” which I thought might be of general interest. I have posted the link as well if anyone is interested. I expect that the statement will apply generally - not just for French customers - and it’s very good news in that case.”We have recently received several queries about after warranty support for the Equinox detector and will publish information about how this will be handled. We would like to reassure French Equinox users that fixed cost and affordable repairs will be available for Equinox outside of the warranty period as well as items such as lithium ion battery replacement.” [www.minelab.com]
  11. I just got my control pod back from Minelab after a replacement due to a faulty on/off button. 11 day round trip, they got it on a Friday afternoon and shipped out the new one on a Monday afternoon. Due to the extra warm weather 10-12 days of 100+ temps, I wasn't going to do much hunting anyway. Every rep I talked to thru the process was very friendly and helpful. Thank you Minelab!!
  12. Join Mike as he talks with Dilek Gönülay, International sales and marketing director for Makro/Nokta metal detectors. Recorded June 26, 2018 Listen to "Dilek Gonulay from Makro/Nokta" on Spreaker.
  13. Whites has notified Dealers of a new VLF Gold Detector. Gold Master 24K with XGB XGB means extreme ground balance. More to follow, getting late.
  14. I can't recommend this product. I'm on my second one already, because the first one won't stay paired. Now my replacement won't stay paired either. It sometimes pairs, but then drops in and out as you're recovering the target. It's very annoying. I guess I'll be returning this one and going on to a third hoping it works as it should. Oh, I'm also on my 4th WT-1 transmitter as they keep dying on me. My third replacement lasted about a week. And when I had my ATMax, I had to return the coil because it was defective. What's going on at Garrett these days? Do they have a quality control department? Good thing Garrett service is excellent because I sure do need it a lot. Dan

  16. Tom you may have posted one time or another but if you did I didn’t see it. Just checking up on you and White’s to see if any new detector coming that you could talk about? Right now on this part of the forum I’ve seen more goings on in a Funeral Home than here . I’d even listen to a lie if you can make it sound believable. Hope all is well with you and don’t be a stranger.. Remember you don’t have to be selling something to say hello. Chuck

  19. Discover Magazine Some of you might remember a publication called "Discover" that White's Electronics used to publish. It featured customer finds, treasure stories, and all-around good info on metal detecting. Back in the 90's we stopped making it, much to the disappointment of some of our long-time customers. Well... we realized missed it too! So we're proud to announce the re-introduction of Discover magazine. As a part of our mailing list you have exclusive access to a free digital copy, which you can read online, print out, and share as you see fit. Get your free copy here. We'll try and send one out every 2 months. Thanks for supporting an American brand, and know that we will always have your back as a valued customer. This publication is just one small thing we can do to show our appreciation! 20. I didn’t see any Makro or Nokta metal detectors and that is what I was hoping to see. I guess the problem is that lack of dealers in the USA. Just maybe over time this will not be the case. I think it would be good for the customer if we had more competition. It would have the effect of a better product and a better competitive price. Don’t miss understand me I don’t want something for nothing. I’m willing to pay the price for top quality detectors. Chuck

  22. We have a recreation/sports park about two miles from my house that is tucked away in the back of a housing area, off the main road, and with no signs indicating the park is there to traffic. It consists of a soccer field, baseball field, roller hockey rink, playground, and paved bike/walking paths. When I first found it, I immediately thought it might be possible that this park may have been overlooked by MD'ers, since most of them work the beaches and the VERY public parks. This was an opportunity to test my newly acquired Equinox knowledge. My hunch turned out to be correct! VIRGIN! I have only worked less than 5% of the park, mostly around the playground, and the pull was fantastic, with about 50% of the finds less than 2" underground. I worked it for about three hours, and seriously got tired going up and down on my knees! This is a coinshooter's dream... No silver, and copper pennies back to 1964, but target after target after target! Biggest surprise was the Nox's absolute accuracy on dimes. 95% of the time I saw solid, static 25 on the TID, it was a dime...and a lot of them. Very VERY pleased with the Nox, and the 800 I will receive at some point will only make it better! N,D,Q's all clad, so after checking key dates, tumbled. Dimes were smacked at 25 down to as low as 8". Pennies ranged from 21-25. Quarters at 28-29 and nickels came in at 13. Park 2, GB, Sens 22 and then down to 15 when she started chattering badly, recovery max, notched out all below 12 and 14 (which was verified for tabs). The all-metal pump procedure was fantastic for ID'ing junk. Also, single frequency look on suspicious targets was effective. Not shown are the 32 pennies, of which only 8 were zincolns. The four 1982 pennies were all 3.11g coppers as well. Totals: Quarters - 17 (earliest 1972) Dimes - 34 (Earliest 1966) Nickels - 4 Pennies - 32 (Earliest 1964) Half of a broken junk metal bracelet Cloth backed and rotting CZ bracelet Going to work that park to death in the coming days, weeks, and months!
  23. Got a email from Keene saying their new catalog going to printers and will have a price increase when it comes out. So if you want to take advantage of the old price you better order now. This is just a FYI . Chuck
