  3. SOUTH AUSTRALIA MANUFACTURING FIRM RAIDED BY FEDERAL TASKFORCE Adelaide - A South Australian manufacturing company, located in Adelaide, was raided on Friday afternoon by an Australian Federal Police Taskforce, executing a search warrant issued on behalf of the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme. (NICNAS). Minelab Metal Detectors, a unit of Codan Industries, was the subject of the Taskforce Crackdown on Illegal Industrial Chemical Importation. A Police spokesperson stated that information had been developed that indicated that the company had been illegally importing a dangerous chemical used in strengthening plastics, named Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), from Indonesia. Multiple 500 liter drums of the substance were confiscated during the raid. DBP is listed by NICNAS a having an "Absolute Prohibition", and not allowed to be imported under any circumstances. Minelab was ordered to shut down all production facilities pending the final outcome of the investigation. Employees were all released. Two senior executives of the company are being held pending an initial bond hearing No court date has yet been set, as the Taskforce and Federal Law Enforcement agencies continue to develop charges. Codan company Managing Director and CEO Donald McGurk stated that the company intends to cooperate and assist the government with their investigation, and hopes to minimize the impact on the subordinate unit, its employees, and customers. NICNAS helps protect the Australian people and the environment by assessing the risks of industrial chemicals and providing information to promote their safe use. Their focus is the industrial use of chemicals. This covers a broad range of chemicals used in inks, plastics, adhesives, paints, glues, solvents, cosmetics, soaps and many other products. ---31 March 2018 by April Sankowsky APRIL FOOLS!!!! 4. Outside of other risks, if a person purchased an unopened, never registered Minelab detector from a unauthorized dealer/party, say a pawn shop. Would Minelab cover warranty service without a receipt from an authorized dealer?
  5. This is the 3rd year we're doing this, and the tokens this year are huge, thick collectible ones worth $25 for the silver and $100 for the gold. Details here: https://www.whiteselectronics.com/whites-easter-egg-hunt-2018/?lang=us

  7. Over on MD-Hunter is talking about a detector that Tom Boykin is testing in Brazil . It will look like the MX 7 but in a different color and higher frequency. It shows a picture but you really can’t see much. I can’t see why all the way to Brazil when I do believe he could have found gold here. I just don’t understand why White’s Don’t call me anymore.haha Chuck
  8. Discover Magazine Some of you might remember a publication called "Discover" that White's Electronics used to publish. It featured customer finds, treasure stories, and all-around good info on metal detecting. Back in the 90's we stopped making it, much to the disappointment of some of our long-time customers. Well... we realized missed it too! So we're proud to announce the re-introduction of Discover magazine. 10. I just got that on a email from them. They still don’t show the 6” coil I’ve been waiting for. If you in need of a coil or digger at half price you can’t beat that with a stick. Oh I forgot free shipping. Chuck PS Read the fine print before jumping on the band wagon. You may have to buy a detector first.
  11. Today all the land had receive some equinox except France. Anyone have an idea ? why zéro units have France and we dont know a date when when we Will receive the first equinox

  14. Claims to have 6 Equinox 600's in stock i cannot verify so I would get confirmation of stock status before paying free shipping Notice 3 hours ago no replies yet http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/5636-equinox-600-for-sale-with-free-shipping/ and https://shop.akmining.com/Minelab-Equinox-600-detail.htm?productId=-6913106&shopby=-12990&catalogid=-3636 i am tempted but have my 800 preorder #7 at my dealer.
  15. I don’t give a hoot about Cabela or Kellyco but I do care about Minelab dealers that’s cares about you and me. I’m wondering if dealers like Gerry,Bill ,Rob and Chris are getting any shipment of Equinox’s? Chuck
  16. Yesterday evening I emailed my Kellyco Sales rep, who has been keeping me up to date on my equinox order. Well earlier I received this response from him and thought I'd pass it along to those of you who ordered their Equinox from Kellyco. I hope this info will be helpful to some of you... ""D" _________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Darryl, Yes, lots of folks excited about the 800's, we have received 2 shipments so far but small quantities and we are still shipping out September orders. Minelab have stated that they hope to fulfill all pre-orders by the end of March, so hopefully we will be receiving larger quantities in the next coming weeks. Cheerz Ray
  17. Dear Valued Members,We are proud to share the official commercial of the Makro Kruzer metal detector. Thank You!
  18. This is the first direct e-mail from Minelab that I received this morning. I suspect everyone should be getting them if they have a Minelab account. This may settle some of our anxiety. C&P: EQUINOX detectors are shipping worldwide! Pre-orders to date in all regions are projected to be fulfilled in the end of March time frame. We at Minelab stand behind both the ingenuity as well as the quality of our products. For clarity, The EQUINOX control box and coils are covered under warranty for a period of 3 years (36 months) from the date of purchase. The Lithium-ion battery contained in the handle is replaceable and is also covered under warranty for a period of 1 year (12 months)from the date of purchase. Minelab recommends using an Authorized Service Centre (ASC) for battery replacement to avoid potentially damaging the waterproof seal during replacement, which could void the 3-year detector warranty. Our ASCs are fully equipped to cost effectively manage your repair needs with the utmost in professionalism and attention to detail. You should expect nothing less from the Minelab brand promise. Remember, PERFORMANCE IS EVERYTHING! Happy Detecting!!
  19. The long answer first. Disclaimer-I have no personal knowledge whatsoever about the business dealings of MineLab. The following is just educated guesses, personal observations, and UT Economics 101. If any of this is far off the mark, or pure insanity on my part, then I'm sure Steve will delete it. I'm just putting it out there to hopefully help others deal with our present situation in an objective way. As most of you know I've been little peeved at Minelab for the past few days over the whole Cabela's thing. And then it hit me last night that it's nothing personal with them, it's all about money, supply and demand, and corporate profit. It seems they are bypassing their dealers and selling most of their Equinoxes through Cabela's, and perhaps even some other big box retailers that I don't know about. It appears to me that at some point in the roll-out, someone at MineLab realized that they could have sold the Equinox unit, especially the 800, for far more than the $899 price tag they originally put on it. And maybe, just maybe, with all the hype surrounding the release, they didn't actually need MineLab dealers to sell the Equinox, the marketing department had done its job almost too well. But they had already put the price sticker on the thing, so what to do? Enter Cabela's. Now I have no idea what kind of profit a MineLab dealer would make per unit for an Equinox, but I have a sneaking suspicion it would have to be far more than what a Cabela's would make on one. Your friendly neighborhood MineLab dealer simply can't compete with a large retailer on volume, but they can sacrifice some of their profit margin to offer special "deals" to their customers. Cabela's is merely providing a selling platform right now, they are not actually incurring the expense of keeping and supplying them in their stores. Maybe a $200-$300 dealer mark-up vs a $100 Cabela's up-charge? Again, I have no idea. I don't imagine that the people at MineLab are losing much sleep over the fact that many die-hard Minelab fans pre-paid for their units months ago either. An extra $200,000 to $300,000 in profit would buy a lot of sleeping pills and they're not the ones having to deal with irate pre-paying customers anyway. The fact that Cabela's sold out of the 800's within hours on Tuesday is bad news for most of us. Unfortunately, I look for Minelab to keep directing most of their production volume to the big box retailer, where they keep a lager share of the profit, at least until the US demand for the full-priced Equinox is exhausted. I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of us who are waiting to get our units from a dealer are going to be waiting quite a while. Not to mention the poor folks in places like BF Egypt who don't even have the Cabela's option (yet). The fact that Cabela's is being forced to charge a hefty sales tax in most US states might help, as well as their refusal to honor the veteran's discount. Now for the short answer. When you can log on to your computer, go to Cabela's dot com, and see Equinox 800 units for sale any day of the week, then you can probably look for your Equinox from your dealer to show up on your doorstep. Again, just my humble opinion which is worth exactly the paper it is written on.
  20. If you're looking for a 600 here they are! He has four but they'll go fast Just search Minelab Equinox and they'll pop up SOLD OUT
  21. Come to find that forum member Mike Haer has a weekly podcast each Monday that I have been generally oblivious to though I think I linked to it in the past on a given subject. Anyway, Mike had another new forum member, George Kinsey, on last week and the forum was mentioned. Many hours of listening available there from past shows so check it out. And thanks for the mention guys!! https://www.spreaker.com/show/all-metal-modes-show Mike’s Website
  22. If I call up Rob a Minelab dealer the first words out his mouth is hey Chuck . Now don’t get me wrong not every deal knows me by name but not one has ever made me feel like a number. Gerry is the dealer I like horse trading with. I’ve called him up to say I want to trade my detector for another. I tell him what I got and how much I want for it. Oh I tell him when he gets it and he thinks different just let me know. I trust Gerry knowing he will be fair. I’ve made deals like this over the phone between us before and never thinking I got the short end of the stick. Another dealer I’m not a number! Someone said Cabela is top dealer for Minelab. Well Chris Of Az.Outback has been one of the top dealers of Minelab I know in the past. He’s just another great guy to deal with. I’ve bought more than one detector or coil from him. It’s been a while that we have spoken but if I called him today he’d talk like we talk everyday . For what it’s worth Rob and Chris are cousins. I don’t know how both became Minelab dealers but they are, Bill I have yet to buy anything from him . He too is a dealer for Minelab and you can see he’s a great guy by reading what the people think of him on his forum. He too is willing to help anyone that comes on him forum. Here again you’re not a number because he calls you by name. I’m posting this because the guys that I posted about above will be here for you when others will say “ What do you want this time “. They will say how you’re doing with that Equinox I sold you and is all going well with it Chuck . Chuck
