  1. I only got out for very short time and I got to cold. It was 46F with the wind blowing. I tried 60 tones and was I was liking for the short time I hunted. I'm going to try it more. Was hunting in sensitivity 30 and Field mode. Only found what looks like part of rivet and a piece of tin.
  2. Here is Dilek's latest update on the update about updating 🙂 It does sound like most of the issues are being ironed out.
  3. Why won't my Legend sound, in all metal mode, on a metal screw or washer unless i put it in a single tone? I even went over a metal tent stake and it doesn't sound off. If I have it in either 2 or 4 tones it hits all other stuff great and if i wave the screw or washer over it, I hear a very very faint tone. Any thoughts. I am using V1.07. Thanks
  4. After 5 weeks using the Legend for mostly US modern coins and a bit of relic hunting, I have been pleasantly surprised with the extra 10 target IDs that the Legend has which separates it from its main competition (Equinox). What pleasantly surprised me most was that Nokta Makro had the good sense at least for me, to put those extra 10 target IDs in the low to mid non-ferrous conductor range. These observations are coming from in the field use of the Legend in moderate to highly iron mineralized dirt on surface to 8" or so deep targets, not from air testing. So, on the Legend target ID 11 to target ID 24 encompasses tiny foil up to the older square tabs. US Nickels are usually a very percussive and obvious 25/26, with normal modern oval pull tabs usually coming in at 26 to 30 with more elongated audio responses than US nickels or gold rings. Beaver tails start at 30 or so and can go up to 37 along with larger pull tabs and can slaw. Zinc pennies if they are in decent shape will usually hit hard at 40 to 42. If they are heavily corroded the spread gets much bigger and can be from 36 to almost 50 until the coil is centered over them. US clad dimes have been consistently 44 to 46 for me, copper pennies have been 46 to 48 and US quarters have been 49 to 52. So that is a full 30 segments of low to mid conductor targets IDs which so far have been very predictable and dependable compared to the 20 target Id segments for the same targets on the Equinox. I have found small womens gold earrings and rings (2 grams and under) in the 12 to 20 range. Some very rusty steel crown bottle caps make a great sound at 19/20 and fool the Ferro Check meter somewhat depending on ground mineralization. At least the 19/20 spot on the target ID range is not shared by a US coin. Another outstanding detector shares the US quarter target ID slot with crown bottle caps of all kinds and condition which is really annoying. So basically the Legend has 10 target IDs for iron, 30 target IDs for low to mid conductor non-ferrous (up to US zinc pennies) and 20 target IDs for US clad coins and high conductors. Speaking of steel crown bottle caps, contrary to a recently produced Youtube video which discussed crown bottle cap recognition and masking, aside from the already mentioned 19/20 rusty crown bottle caps that I have encountered, most crown bottle caps in really good shape will be obvious iron targets in the Ferro Check meter with the meter swinging wildly between mostly all ferrous to mostly all non-ferrous during coil sweeps. They will give a really distinctive mixed tonal and ID response that includes tones and IDs in the low 50s that alternate with iron tones (if you accept part of the iron range) if they aren't covered with foil like the Modelo crown bottle caps. Those will give iron range, aluminum range 30s and low 50s target responses that really sound wild. Those crown bottle cap responses can also sound a bit similar to coin spills so a moment of investigation is a good idea if the target responses are fairly shallow. I am still totally enjoying the Legend. I have not strayed too much from Park M1 using a 6 tone audio setup that lets me know immediately what the conductivity of each target is along with a good idea of size, depth and shape if the targets are roughly coin sized. Aside from still not being able to update to 1.07 due to who knows what..... I still really like the Legend.
  5. I've noticed there is a bunch of people making gizmo's to center their shaft on the 6" coil, is this necessary? What's the 6" coil like to swing? I know I always hated the First Texas stock coil with the T2 because it had coil ears mounted nearer to the rear of the coil, it just felt weird but the little 6" shouldn't be too bad with them at the rear I guess? So what's the verdict? Do people find it OK? Here is one of the Gizmo's people are making I am a bit puzzled why they did the ears at the rear though.
  6. Haven’t tried to update yet, does it erase your saved user profiles or do you keep them? Thanks.
  7. Really liking the legend! Good depth and separation!
  8. If you have any issues updating your Legend, please read the troubleshooting guide below: TROUBLESHOOTING Windows 1. Disable your antivirus program. 2. Plug the device into a different USB port, if your computer has more than one, to see if the problem is specific to one port. 3. The right drivers must be installed – Go to www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers and install the driver according to your computer’s operating system. 4. Type "Control Panel" into the Windows search bar and select Control Panel. Go to Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings. Find USB Settings, then drill down to USB selective suspend setting. Disable the options next to On battery and Plugged in, then click Apply. You must then restart your PC to stop it from turning off the USB ports unnecessarily. MacOS 1. 4. In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open. Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu. Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu. Click Open. The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app. Note: You can also grant an exception for a blocked app by clicking the Open Anyway button in the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences. This button is available for about an hour after you try to open the app. To change these preferences on your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy , then click General.
  9. Took a trip to Nevada last week and met up with Steve and Steve. While I waited for them to show up at our meeting place I got out a few VLF metal detectors to try on some gold nuggets. Nothing conclusive here just though people would like to see how they perform. One difference between the Nevada soil and what I'm used to hunting is all the salt. All the detectors were subject to coil knock and really took some fine tuning to get them to run stable. Steve F later found that on the Deus 2 sensitive would probably be the best mode to run as it eliminates coil knock issues and is still pretty sensitive to small targets.
  10. The Legend version 1.07 software update is ready for download and updating. I haven't tried it yet. I will tonight. There are reports coming in that it loaded smoothly so far with no "device not connected" notices during the update procedure. Good Luck! https://www.noktadetectors.com/metal-detector/the-legend/
  11. My legend is 1.05 and is running very well. I've only been in my test garden so far. It's been a cold April in n. MI. Today 41F and high winds. My ground is very mild and I'm able to run sensitivity at 30. I used 2 tone. I'm not that concerned with id. I set my tone break and don't go by id much. If different modes have different id's. That doesn't bother me. 2 of my test coins I can't get a hit with a couple of my detectors. They are 7" & 8" dimes with not planted iron by them. The Legend hits them easy as does the Equinox 800. I'm impressed with the gold mode on the Legend. It is very powerful and hit the 2 dimes the hardest. It's going to be a great in the lakes and relic hunter. As soon as I can get out I'm taking it to heavy iron site to see how much iron falsing it has. The Equinox with F2 0 drives me crazy with all the falsing. Videos I've watched on the Legend, I haven't seen much falsing but we don't know where iron mask is set. Right now it is good. I'm happy with it the way it is. With the 11" coil, it is heavier than the Equinox but with the shaft shortened and moved in closer it's doesn't feel bad. I'm looking forward to a real hunt.
  12. Hello all... THIS QUESTION IS DIRECTED TO LEGEND USERS ONLY: As we are working on the next update, please list the items you would like to be added / changed in the Legend (NO NEED TO MENTION IRON BIAS AS THAT IS ALREADY PART OF THE LIST). You can also list any accessory requests. Once we gather this information, we will focus on those that are requested by the majority of users (not limited to this forum) and will try our best to give them to our valued users. THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION! Dilek
  13. The number 60 will appear if you place your coil flat on the ground. This could be the cause of an issue stating the Legend, when you scrub the ground has problems detecting objects but when you provide an air gap it may pick up the object. AKA, when using the deep mode must have an air gap to work properly. The D2 also must have an air gap using the relic program. Please try this and let me know if your Legend reads 60 when you place the coil flat on the ground. Just a thought. Thanks
  14. Can't wait to get out. 29F right now and snowing. Will be warming up very soon. Detectors I have: Equinox 800 w/ 11", XP Orx w/ 9" hf coil, Gold Kruzer w/ 3 coils, Nokta Legend w/ 2 coils soon.
  15. The V1.06 update is now available on NM website.
  16. I have been doing some field testing on small gold, lead, hot rock and typical Western USA gold fields iron/tin trash. All of this testing has been done with planted targets in mineralized ground using the 11" coil and with software update 1.05 installed. At some gold prospecting sites I would probably run the Legend in Goldfield M using the A (all target IDs accepted) discrimination pattern so using an audible reference threshold tone is not crucial. At sites where mineralization is not overpowering I would probably use the Legend in Goldfield M using the G (ground) discrimination setting (1 and 2 rejected) or something similar so that iron minerals like magnetite along with some iron trash will have broken tones and would hopefully be accompanied by a nulling threshold. So far using the Ground (G) or Iron (F) discrimination patterns, I can only hear a nulling threshold on magnetite and iron targets by using a threshold tone volume level of 9 or less. The actual threshold tone itself at volume level 9 or less is very erratic, intermittent, actually hard to hear and unpredictable. I can hear it stop (null) however if I use a sensitivity setting of around 18 or higher. Using threshold volume level of 10 or more creates a constant, unwavering, easy to hear threshold tone which does not null over targets that are being rejected using the G or F discrimination patterns. Hopefully Nokta Makro can fix this issue.
  17. Trying to make customers happy is certainly not an easy thing to do. Kudos Dilek.
  18. Here is Dileks latest video with information about a Beach update, I guess for fixing the unstable performance at the beach some have demonstrated in videos on Youtube. I'm yet to watch the video so don't know it's content but putting it here for those that don't use Facebook to be able to see it. Dilek points out her cleaning lady cut off the video by unplugging her router so it ends unexpectedly.
  19. Just started detecting last month with my Legend. I secured a permission to a colonial era farm. Was a beautiful place, only detected by the home owner. So I am out there maybe 30 mins....no foil...good sign... Get a nice solid 40, start diggin...and what to my wondering eyes should appear? An OX KNOB! I GOT AN OX KNOB! WOOT! You old timers may not be impressed but I was over the moon. My first real relic. Another 30 mins, nice 33, cant find it in hole or plug...look over and next to the shovel I see green! Bam! An old crusty Indian head penny! Another first! The penny was in bad shape, barely identifiable. It started raining so I quit and showed the home owner and she insisted on keeping both. I smiled and said sure. Just glad to have found something old. Then she says, I hope you don't feel bad that I am taking both. So I say, nah, no problem. Then she says "I am going to keep everything you find." I said no problem, and left. I Don't really get why she said that, but she owns the place, and I was just happy to find my first cool finds. I may go back, but knowing she wont let me keep anything is disappointing. But I will always remember that moment holding my beautiful ox knob. Oh yeah, so I am showing her the indian head and we couldn't identify it for certain at first. So she grabs it and says, sometimes running water over it works. At this point she had already said she was keeping it so I didn't object to her destroying the coin by washing it....which in fact did erase nearly all detail. She ruined my first coin. Took, my knob and broke my heart. Lol Totally worth it.
  20. Disc. pattern on six, 2 tone, set tone one to the lowest setting and tone 2 the highest. Beach program, dry beach. Now I hunt colonial relics and coins in mineralized soil. If I was a park hunter this set up really breaks up on rusty bottle caps. Signals pop. Fun and simple to try. Just a heads up on the ferro check feature. I have dug both ferrous and nonferrous in the same hole when the meter shows both.
  21. Is there any word on when the LG 35 coil will be available in the USA?
  22. I say no. "YOU THE OPERATOR" did not find the target while using a Legend. Too many factors involved in making that statement. Genius.
  23. Relic Hunting in the iron has presented no issues. Maybe Nokta can make a "Hypersonic Legend" for the jittery guy. Oh my!
  24. A friend , and hunting buddy called me yesterday .He had just taken delivery of his new Legend and was having difficulty with the upgrade v1.05 on his Mac.I told him of a similar experience I was having , having tried it on 3 different windows 10 computers and failing to get it to load .Never had a problem with Dxxs or Eqx updates .One of the things I tried was cancelling the anti virus but that did not help .I am still trying to get it to work before the next update arrives ,
  25. Just find the best settings for your sites and conditions. I would stay away from youtube users of this product. You have got a manual so read it. Everyone wants to fast track. Get's you knowhere even faster. . That's about all I will say.
