i more or less can tell by looking at the screen

That's going to be your answer. Check the ID #'s and where it's located on the screen and if it's a small dot or a smudge. I use Prospecting Audio Theme and it really has a sharp/short "bang" on good targets vs. garbage.

If you use the discriminator to block all cap #'s, your going to miss some good stuff. Don't do it. 😉

Canadian clad sounds and looks like steel bottle caps to the Manticore.  Especially the $1 loonie and $2 toonie.  The only reason that I purposely dig those bottle cap signals is in search of a few bucks when a hunt is not producing.   I can say that I am digging considerably less bottle caps with the Manti than with the Equinox.  And don't get me started on the new 25c and 10c...

My first time on the beach with the Manticore I dug everything to get a better understanding. Bottle caps had a clear slightly broken sound and an arched diagonal trace from just below the center line to the top of the map, very distinguishable and repeatable on the caps that I dug.
