Iron ring is a good guess too.. it gives out the same characteristic/tonal like cannonball

Those are some nice relics from the past then. If I was a collector, I'd go back and get them from under that tree.

Cannonball is brittle? it will broken up to small pieces/flaky/rusting away in a few years.. Usually collectors here will put it in  cooking oil..
