I would contact either Nokta themselves or Andy at their USA repair center.

It appears different countries have different regulations surrounding this however, in New Zealand all you need is the purchase receipt, doesn't need to be original, even a photocopy/scan and print is fine.

Thanks! The problem is that I'm not sure if the original owner has the receipt. I'm checking on that now

I can remember contacting  Nokta with the situation and they were very helpfull. I didn't have the original receipt but they  could tell by the serial number when it was sold and how much warranty was left. They will take care of you..Good company
