  1. Coil cover a special order ? Got my machine about 2 weeks ago and didn't get one. Cliff
  2. " Set knobs to presets except volume (full); threshold was at 4 and hunted all metal. A thanks again to Clive, the edges are easier to hear than previous hunt, but I don't think I'm anywhere near as tuned in yet as I got with the HHPulse." Glad to see you are tuning yourself in on the sounds of the AQ. I'm back out there today (water conditions permitting) along with Dewcon with hopes of checking live targets to compare with the MDT. I spent so much time out there yesterday putzing with the knobs I can't realistically say what settings I was on so today is a concerted effort to "learn" the machine sounds by turning down the sensitivity a touch and sticking with some settings. Had to go back to see what exactly Clive had written and it is archived now in an AQ word file along with some other bits of AQ info to re-read later. Easier to find that way. Another comment.... Volume maxed..... I found I "needed" maxed volume with the stock battery and phones....however, now with OBN's battery and the M12 headphone connector, I was able to use different phones..... Decibel levels nearly doubled and am using a volume level around 5 now and can really lower it further..... Threshold is now easily heard at 5 and I believe I could go lower on a non-windy day! Funny, I have a HH Pulse sitting out in the garage that I haven't used in a few years..... any takers out there? Cliff
  3. Almost to the minute Joe. Dont think I want one to last longer.
  4. I have to qualify that title, 90% of the bottle caps were found in the dry sand along with one plated ring. This is not a dry sand coin shooting machine...but I knew that going into it. Lots to learn yet on the machine, wanted to do some testing against the MDT today but unfortunately, the battery died prior to us testing. Most of the water hunting was done in All Metal, 10,5us due to choppy water, sensitivity was just under 4. Gold ring #2 for the AQ 10k, 2.15 grams with CZ's. No doubt in my mind that any other water machine would have got this one IF you got your coil over it. One scoop target. Major cramping on the scoop arm from all the digging. This machine will get me back into shape or kill me! Cliff
  5. Good report, it appears you were near a machine shop.....lathe scraps? I'll be interested in hearing what threshold you end up with on a windy day, i too have the volume maxed out but with wind, needed the thresbold near 6 to hear. I've got tinnitus in both ears so am already hearing a constant threshold in my head.... Cliff
  6. WTG, another nice old class ring. To bad the silver gets eaten up so bad, you'd have a heck of a collection of silver coins. Cliff
  7. Not in melt value BUT, here it is with its retail value..... I'm shocked at the price to be honest. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/mens-diamond-cluster-ring-2-ct.-t.w.-in-10k-gold?ID=6209252&CategoryID=21176 To bad all hunts don't have results like that! Cliff
  8. My tester is an older GemOro. I really need to replace it with a newer one although it still works and is pretty reliable. I normally cross check it on a known good diamond.
  9. Approximately 3 hour hunt (one battery), about 2 hours in the water in the Gulf. Water was almost flat with a slight current, bottom was rippled. This particular beach doesn't get many tourists and is somewhat out of the way, I didn't expect a lot of targets. Since I still have loads to learn on the machine, I didn't spend a whole lot of time with any specific setting as I was trying to see what adjustments did what. Hunted in all metal the entire hunt. I found you really need to hunt slow to avoid any rising threshold due to swinging into deeper water. Sensitivity adjustments and delay adjustments helped. The machine was more than useable in the water with the exception of the coil connector when it enters/exits the water. Odd thing on that was I thought I was shallow enough but the connector sticks out a good ways..... The tent stakes, sinker, and bottle caps were from the wet sand. The few other targets were from the water waist to chest deep. The dime seemed to be the deepest target at about 3 scoops deep give or take. There was no mistaking the ring as a target, it wasn't a whisper at all.....got it with the second scoop. Pinpointing the target prior to digging was easier with the 12" coil then I had thought it would be. Balance on this machine is really good for wet/dry hunting, however, it did take a few adjustments to my typical hunting style to have good coil control in the water, it does show you how "bad" your normal coil control may be.... You sure don't have to worry about when the battery is getting low, it lets you know when it is time to change batteries or go home! All in all, I'm liking this machine so far.... Cliff
  10. I'm quite sure Fisher would like to see that battery and hear all the details you have/noticed. Sorry to hear/see for sure and I will keep an eye on mine.....when it gets here. Thanks for the post and photos. Cliff
  11. Definitely! and, I'll probably do the same to learn the "language" of the AQ. Cliff
  12. Almost enough to scare me away from the AQ until I saw you were mostly in the dry. Interesting though the bottle caps, from my quick count, about 1/3 of the caps were Corona's.......the average for Corona would be very similar down here in Florida at my beaches. Good luck on your next hunt. Cliff
  13. Deborah that is so good to hear..... I've been on the sidelines both here and on Facebook following your problem and am relieved to see you seem to have figured it out....with an assist from Jim. Cliff
  14. Way to go Joe, seems the AQ is working well for you. Enjoy the time with the grandsons. Cliff
  15. Congrats on the AQ gold and getting the machine back.... Cliff
  16. I have been following this machine for a couple of years now and seem to be getting some good information on the "Limited" machines from the current owners, however some of the information is somewhat vague. Joe Beachnut has given good info and videos of his hunting and I'm grateful for those videos, however he is in the bay. I have seen one owner's post that has had problems with stability with the machine in saltwater. There was also one reply saying there were two machines elsewhere with the same stability issues in the water. So, how many users/owners are using the AQ in the saltwater and have stability issues OR is this an issue with only those few machines? Is it a salinity problem? I know this machine will be great on the wet sand but in the summer, I'm in the water nearly 100% due to the heat....I need a machine I can use in the water! Cliff
  17. Thanks Joe...... I'm following Deb's post on Facebook, I'm hoping she figures it out. Cliff
  18. Looks like he had a really good first time out with the machine Joe. Nice he could hunt with those settings as I saw there is at least one user that is having problems with the AQ being chatty with those kind of settings. Did I miss the trick with moving the scoop near the coil to change the target sounds, care to elaborate on the procedure? Cliff
  19. I was wondering what had happened with very little being discussed about the machine. Actually started to think there were major problems with it and doubt started to creep into my thought process about potential ownership. Much relieved seeing the new older threads. Cliff
  20. Chase, in my opinion the answer would be NO. Some small foil will be eliminated but there is an endless supply of various sizes and shapes of aluminum trash at a beach. I have noticed that 18kHz "seems" to be a better frequency for hunting in the small aluminum but if your beaches are anything like mine, you will find there is still aluminum to dig....especially in the dry. I haven't tried it yet but would like to see if you take one of those small pieces of flattened foil and just bend it up a bit (not in a ball)....I'll bet it doesn't get eliminated as easy. Cliff
  21. Any further updates on how many are out on the street at this time? Cliff
  22. I was wondering about the volume on targets just from listening to your videos Joe..... there was a similar problem with the Aqua Sound when using it due to the volume of targets and the associated headphones. Dew and I solved that problem with pots to adjust the volume at the headphones.....it allowed for a better hunt but your idea is much better! Battery seems to be coming along well.....I see lots of Excal DNA in what you have so far! Keep us posted how it is going....thanks Joe. Cliff
