  1. thanks for the reply, I picked up a Bluetooth transmitter that has two different settings one is RX the other is TX which setting do I use the RX or TX to hear through the Bluetooth headphones from the 24K
  2. Those are some great prices on a great detector
  3. Can you plug in a Bluetooth transmitter into the Garret 24K to allow to use Bluetooth headphones instead of using the supplied corded headphones ??? Also in the volume setting there is a B1 and a B2 volume setting are those two settings used to boost weaker signals or is there another purpose of the B1 and B2 volume settings just trying to learn the 24 K functions have watched Mr H videos on Garrett site but he never went into the B1 and B2 settings on the volume controls thanks for any and all replies
  4. It was vary easy they never even ask me for the serial number which I thought was odd but, it took less then 10 minutes on the phone with them, took me 7 to explain what the issue was LOL and Mary went back grabbed the stems where the cam locks are located plus some extra cam locks while I was on the phone with her she said they were boxing them up and they would put them in the mail vary vary good customer service I am liking that a lot
  5. Called Garrett this morning with the issue I am having on the 24 K cam locks falling apart, Garrett is sending me new stems with cam locks plus extra cam locks, since I told them I was not comfortable having to take the control pod off to replace the S part of the stem on a new detector that the wires run through that part of the stem , they already put the parts in the mail and should be here in a few days, that's pretty good customer service, in my book Seems Garrett is going to be a great company to deal with in warranty service Thank you Garrett, for the outstanding service spoke to Mary there
  6. Just came across your post I live in Oracle, if you ever want someone to go out with you let me know I also sent you a PM
  7. I agree I have been in touch with Gerry already this morning and please do not take me wrong I am in no way complaining about the 24K, sheet happens everyday and I do not sweat the small stuff, i believe Garret will take care of it and it is not like I cannot go out and try it out the way it is once I put the two white pieces back in it the cam lock still tighten up and hold, I just have to be aware not to loosen them in the field while detecting so not to loose them LOL
  8. I agree 100% phrunt I like it also I will tell you in an air test on my wedding band which is a 10 k band the 24K hit my wedding band at 12 inches and i know it is only an air test but I thought that was pretty good depth on a ring, I do know the ground you detect can skew things like depth also among other things, I am not really sold on air test I mainly did it to see what target ID came up, needles to say I was pretty impressed by what I seen Also phrunt can you tell me what the two little rubber blocks are for with the sticky backs almost makes me think they are small feet that sticks to the bottom of the battery compartment for a sort of stand but not sure there is no mention of them in the owners manual
  9. I am almost wondering if there is something missing of the shaft locks because if you loosen the shafts to much the white part just falls out
  10. well found one thing I do not like on the 24K, I do not care for the shaft locks, there is some little white pieces on the shaft that goes in a square hole on the shaft under the locking nut that just pops out when you try to lock the locking nut why these are loose I have no clue, kind of a cheap shaft locking system, don't know if the two little white pieces were supposed to be glued in place and were just missed or what, the do not appear to be broken or anything, they appear to just sit under the locking nuts and then you tighten the nut which compresses the white thing to lock the shaft, anyone have any idea's on this
  11. I am not complaining about whites name on it also just discovered on the back of the control pod it has whites logo on the back and garret's on the front, it is a nice touch it just surprised me, Garrets way of keeping Whites alive I guess, on the coil also, I like it the looks anyways, received it so late this evening I was unable to go out and try it out in my front yard so I am just getting the batteries charged up in preparation to try it out tomorrow, just gives me time to read through the instruction pamphlet that came with it, as far as the 6 inch coil from my understanding Gerry had to really dig through things to find it, also have someone that offered me a second 6 inch coil for just the shipping fee so I will have a back up 6 inch for a nominal fee, would like to find one of the 4x6 inch DD coils but I think that one is dreaming, I really hope Garrets makes a 4x6 inch coil for the 24K but I think that is wishful thinking also with the impending release of the Axiom the 24K is the last thing on Garrets Mind, but we can hope LOL, I think on the ground I detect the 4x6 inch DD coil would probably be a really good coil for the conditions I detect in The GM1000 was ok there was just things that irritated me about the GM1000, like the falling over when you set it down to retrieve a target, and a couple of other things
  12. took delivery of a new Garret 24 K today purchased from Gerry very quick delivery 2 days I am curious though as to why a brand new Garret 24 K has a battery cover that says Whites on it though LOL, just thought it was odd so I received a whites/Garrets 24K LOL at least the battery cover is black, have a six inch coil coming from Gerry for it also, put it together and charging the included rechargeable batteries as I type really looking forward to getting out with this 24K first impressions what I see so far I like, when you set it down it doesn't fall over, which is a big plus after using the GM1000 will add some more once I get out in the area I detect Thanks Gerry for the great service
  13. I am on version 1.09, no I am not using tracking I am talking about the Ground balance when I start out the Legend ground balance's on auto ground balance the GB numbers will be reading low to high 90s most of the time high 90s then all of a sudden it starts dropping until the GB number is now reading zero I will stop and re ground balance when I notice it has dropped to zero the ground balance value again shows in the 90s it does this continually I have also re installed the 1.09 version 4-6 times to see if it corrects this but it has not, have also installed and re installed the new threshold update several times, have done a factory reset each time after the software installs and re installs the other thing is when it does drop to zero my legend becomes really unstable it is only on the ground that I am currently detecting that it does this I am referring to the UN stability milder ground does not appear to be an issue when it drops to zero which is my understanding the dropping to zero is correct for mild ground I have two legends and both do and act the same here where I am I have sent messages to Nokta/Macro and the only response i get is my legend is doing what it is supposed to
  14. is it normal for the Legend to just automatically drop to zero Jeff and also have you ever activated the mineralization meter on the legend while out detecting with the Legend I use the mineral meter all the time or should I just ignore the mineral meter, some ground I have seen the bars really low but not in the area I am currently detecting the meter is almost always pegged at 10 bars max and on the salt side it runs 3-5 bars
  15. I am using the 6 inch coil, the odd thing is the ground balance, this ground runs in the high 90s on ground balance values with several of my detectors but the Legend keeps dropping of to zero which I feel is not correct the mineral meter on the Legend is pegged with 3-5 bars on the salt side, i just do not see how the legend is reading the ground balance correctly my understanding is on low mineralized ground it will drop to zero if the meter is pegged tells me my ground is not low mineralization and the ground balance values should not be zero, or am I thinking wrong i just really do not know I have ground balanced several times with different detectors and the ground balance value is always in the 90s but again this is not the case with the Legend it always tracks down to zero.
  16. don't have access to a 7K I do have some friends that own the Nox 800 their nox does the same as my Legend, like I said I have been using a Gold Fox Mini Monster to run dirt I have collected while out detecting and been getting some gold with it and also a dry washer but I would love to be able to find some with a detector,if at all possible, Like i replied to jeff I am giving the Axiom some serious thoughts
  17. Thanks for the response Jeff, I am just trying to figure this out have never detected ground like I am on rite now so it is a learning experience i am giving the Axiom some serious thoughts but will wait until it has gotten out into peoples hands not saying I do not trust what Mr Hershbach and Gerry is saying but I just want to here how those that detect on similar ground as myself does with one, the GM 1000 was so unstable on this ground it was virtually UN usable, my TDI was pretty much the same the one detector that has surprised me is the Xterra 705 but even it struggles as does the Legend, again I will eventually figure it out and this is a new learning experience for me
  18. as the title reads what do you do when you are detecting an area that is so heavy in Magnetite that none of your detector work the area I am in detecting for gold is this way, the solution I have come up with is to fill five gallon buckets with dirt haul them back home and run them through a small sluice, like the gold fox mini monster, the area has a layer of magnetite down anywhere from 1-5 inches, when you drag a 2 inch rare earth magnet through it the magnet comes back looking like a tennis ball,it is like trying to detect over a iron plate, have found no detector as of yet that will see much deeper the 3-6 inches and the 6 inches is exaggerating it LOL, and that includes a pulse detector that I just recently sold, just thought I would pose this question and get some opinions from the more experienced gold detectorist, every area I have detected here where I live is like this, I have tried the Legend which when you activate the mineralization meter on the Legend it literally pegs the iron particle side of the meter at 10 bars the salt side is reading 3-5 bars, GM 1000, Xterra 705, Whites TDI, Simplex Plus as well as a few others, nothing seems to work, so what do you all do when you encounter an area like I described Thanks for reading
  19. The 9.5 or 10 x 5 or 6 is the one coil I am patiently waiting on for the Legend
  20. can you still purchase batteries for the GP3500, my other concern is not being able to turn it on if the battery is not charged up.
  21. was offered a GP 3500 in really nice condition coil did not have a scratch on it and neither did anything else, by a woman in the area I currently live it only had one coil a battery that is probably no longer working and a carry bag price was $500 but she seemed really negotiable on price was told her husband purchased it like 10 years ago he got sick and did not get to use it much she told me he paid like $700 when he purchased it back then said he purchase used never thought to take photos of it or serial number but got to thinking about it and going back and making a offer so in every ones opinion what would the value of a GP3500 be I do not want to cheat the lady but dont want to get taken either and I do not want to purchase if it was stolen either so is there a way to check that also thanks for reading
  22. I am going to make a suggestion that is a little higher then your $500 budget but it is a smokin deal rite now and that is the Nokta/Macro Legend from the link I provided, it is $49.95 higher then your budget if you go this route I would call them and ask what all is included in this package when I went back and read this add at bigboyshobbies it seemed a little miss leading when I read it https://bigboyshobbies.net/legend-nokta-makro-metal-detector this package has almost everything included that you may or will need the only other thing I would suggest is a good metal detecting shovel if you are going to be digging in the woods, and even the shovel you do not really need but it is good to have one if you are going to be detecting in open fields, and wooded area I would not take a shovel into a park or someones yard but fields and wooded areas I would here is a link to great shovels https://www.predatortools.com/collections/shovels/products/all-new-model-24-the-phoenix-shovel and yes they are expensive but you will never purchase another shovel again, like I said you do not necessarily have to have a shovel the first link I provided gets you almost everything you need of the two detectors you mentioned I would go the simplex route it is a great beginners detector and is way more detector then the price would suggest
