  1. Hi Wiggins at one time I had a pair of these that I used when I was the foreman on a landscape maintenance crew for a school district, I would actually wear them while running a mower which mowers have very loud volumes when the blades and engine is running I would listen to music through these while I was operating a mower and they had great volume that I could hear music over the mower through these, they were made by Panasonic and are no longer in production, they were produced back in the early 2000s https://www.aptx.com/products/panasonic-btg-s10-bone-conduction-headset if Avantree could produce something like these I believe they would work great for Metal Detecting
  2. well that's not exactly a full set of dentures, LOL i could see how someone could loose just one cap, caps become loose and fall off
  3. I think you are correct, with the way Bone conduction transfers the sound through your Cheek Bone to allow for hearing the sounds, there may be a limit as to what a manufacture could achieve as far as volumes are concerned, I will say the Bone Conduction phones I tried even though they had onboard volume control on the headphones themselves the volume was limited by the amount of volume control that the detector itself could be adjusted to a fore instance with the Legend it only has 6 volume levels that the Legend is capable of achieving so even at its loudest volume setting of 6 it just was not enough, but when I used the same bone Conduction phones with the Axiom using a transmitter plugged into the headphone jack of the Axiom the Volume was considerably louder through the Bone Conduction phones, it was the same with my 24K so the volumes that can be achieved is really dependent on both the detector and the Bone Conduction phones being able to be adjusted to a higher volume level Avantree also produces a Bone Conduction style headphone called Lingo, the Lingo is Air Conduction, the Lingo works fairly good also except when the wind is blowing, then you can not hardly hear the tones I will say each and every bone conduction and air conduction device I tried worked fantastic and had great volume with my Cell or when using them with my Lap Top or TV they all had great volume Levels but were the complete opposite when using them with a detector, which is what tells me that the Volumes that can be achieved is dependent on how high the volume can be adjusted on what ever device you connect them to
  4. I would love to see Avantree come out with some wireless true bone conduction headphones that has really good audio volume levels and good audio sound I have tried several pairs of Bone Conduction headphones some were compatible with the aptX LL and a couple were not and the main issue I ran into with all of the Bone Conduction headphones I tried, was the volume was not adequate enough to make them usable with a detector, yes you could hear the tones but it was a struggle to hear the tones and if the wind was blowing it was impossible to hear anything through them, yes putting a pair of earplugs in your ears helped with being able to hear the sound coming through them but for me personally the whole reason I want Bone Conduction headphones is so I can stay aware of what is happening around me, and having to put a set of earplugs in to be able to hear the tones coming from your detector kind of defeats the purpose for me wearing bone conduction headphones I like your headphone set up @Chet other than the wire aspect, how is the volume of the headphones ???
  5. I hope you meant aptX LL instead of just aptX because there is a huge difference of Latency aptX LL from my understanding is 40ms or lower and standard aptX is 150ms or higher
  6. Yep like finding someones Dentures, as was recently posted by @Gerry in Idaho, you have to wonder what happened to the person that lost them or how in the world did someone loose them, a ring or a necklace or even a hearing aid I can understand but a set of dentures ????
  7. I am liking mine, just a new learning experience is the way I look at it, but I believe i picked a easy enough one to learn on
  8. I do understand what Avantree is doing Chase, I probably should have added a bit more when I replied to Redz stating what you just did but I was just trying to let him know that currently those are FS and SBC just in case he was wondering
  9. Agree 100% phrunt, Avantree needs every ones input on this, they are open to trying to produce a product for us detectorist and understand the importance of very Low Latency, so everyone pitch in your ideas
  10. As Jeff Stated and I can only report what I know about the Simplex Plus as I have never used the Ultra or BT Those tones on the Simplex Plus drove me nuts, they remind me of the Aflac Goose that someone has a strangle hold on and the goose refuses to die and shut up, even though I own the ATP and never use it I would much rather listen to that audio in pro mode that the ATP offers as to hear that dying goose tones of the Simplex Plus, don't know if the Ultra is the same or not but lets hope not
  11. All you @Sinclair and @Dan(NM) have done is give perfect examples of the reality of metal detecting in general, new people coming in watch these you tubers and think all you dig is great finds all the time, when in reality a lot of trash is in their future with this great hobby LOL
  12. Well I have 7, So i am still ok been eyeing a couple more, but most likely not going to purchase anymore, the next detector I purchase will have to tell me exactly what I have just swung the coil over, so I think I am safe from ever being tempted again to make any more purchases
  13. I think Simon needs a few more don't we all LOL
  14. Oh what to heck its only money, LOL Doesn't have to be that expensive just starting out, then once you are really hooked that's when it gets expensive, you can get into a decent really great starting detector for a few hundred dollars these days, any old cheap pouch and a cheap shovel plus maybe a hand digger and maybe a pin pointer which is not really necessary but nice to have it just makes recovery of targets a little faster, and you are up and detecting, but if you are like some of us once you are really hooked that's when the next greatest thing starts calling your name and you have to go out and buy one, but the reality of it is you can have just as much fun with a beginners detector as you can with a detector that cost 6 times more than that beginners detector, these new detectors out now days some of the cheaper ones are almost as good as the more expensive ones, as far as depth and other things are concerned and believe me depth is not all its cooked up to be most targets are found at 8 inches or less and in reality most at 6 inches or less, the key to this hobby is take it for what it is (A Hobby) and just have fun, none of us are going to get rich doing this great hobby so again just go out and have fun, it makes the metal detecting aspect of it much more enjoyable in the end, and be prepared if you actually take up this great hobby you will dig up a ton of trash targets Welcome to this great forum DP
  15. Absolutely agree with everything Kevin had to say have the same accessories on a few of my detectors and they all work fantastic Will also add if Doc comes out with a Hip Stick, it will be another great accessory to add, I ended up building a Hip Stick for myself to use and after using it with my detectors I really could not imagine swinging my detectors with out Docs accessories and the hip Stick, Docs accessories along with the hip stick I made have allowed me to detect much longer than I was able to previously because of a torn Rotator cuff and lower back issues, Docs accessories have helped a ton if anyone is on the fence about purchasing these accessories for fear of looking ridiculous, trust me I get it, but for me I had to do something, it was either try Docs accessories or quit detecting due to the pain I was experiencing, I choose to give Docs accessories a try and man oh man what a huge difference it has made for me, they have actually made detecting fun again and they dang sure beat the alternative to giving up on a hobby I absolutely love.
  16. not at 3 feet deep, a 10 gauge wire is not very large in diameter only in our dreams is there a detector that could see a 10 gauge copper wire at 3 feet deep
  17. you will be hard pressed to find a metal detector that will see a 10 gauge wire at 3 feet deep, there may be someone reply later with an idea of something to use, not real sure if a PI will see a 10 gauge copper wire at that depth or not, i know I have dug a few scrap pieces of metal at a pretty good depth using my PI, but nothing as small as a 10 gauge wire yet, and no where close to 3 feet deep either is there not a blue stake company in Texas, I do know in Arizona you are required or it is suggested to call out blue stake before digging for any lines of any type, it is a free service and can save a lot of headaches and fines, not sure your situation would apply or not though
  18. That would absolutely work also, Thank you Avantree for being willing to listen to us detectorist looking forward to what your company comes out with even a speaker as @Lunk suggested would work as long as there was a LE transmitter included I think that would be great A speaker would also have to have a way to clip it to a harness also just keep in mind what ever Avantree comes up with needs to be water Proof and dust Proof
  19. The one thing with Bone Conduction headphones is every pair I have tried is the volume is not loud enough, If Avantree could come up with some bone conduction headphones that has good volume and can connect to the aptX LL that most detectors with wireless capabilities utilize I would purchase a pair in a heartbeat, the Bone Conduction phones I used worked good but as I stated the volume needed to be louder than what is currently available and that includes the Avantree Lingo's, they work great with my Cell but with a detector they were very low volume and it made it a struggle to hear the tones and threshold if there was wind going on, using a pair of earplugs helps but earplugs kind of defeat the purpose for me because you are now back to not being able to hear what is going on around you I also Like @Lunk idea of that speaker
