  1. The technology can never, ever, win the day of there is no gold there to start with... Example.... I wouldn't go to my dad's hometown in TX with my 7000 and expect to find gold...no matter how good the 7000 is... You still have to get on the gold...
  2. Here's your chance Steve!!!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/121741581176?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82
  3. I see you are now back on topic Chris P........ and sorry Steve, I am unable to divulge my source ..... the only reason i would want to hunt behind you is to watch how you work..... ...
  4. Please read the sentence a little better...... You will notice I did not say he was using a radio shack unit---- what i said was..... well i dont have to say it again, it's right there. and location IS the ultimate factor ---because if there aint no gold you arent going to find it even if you have a wash plant and a D9 dozer.... So basically what i said was that most of his finds were shallow vs deep lunkers..... simple
  5. A wise man once told me, "Most of the gold he had ever found could have been found with an old Radio Shack detector" So the detectors are not the main focus of finding gold..... we all know that location is the single most important factor when detecting, drywashing, dredging, sluicing, sniping, panning, etc.... Now, that being said..... Part of the fun of detecting for me is using the latest and greatest machines---- it adds to hobby (and it is a hobby) for me... Why do some people buy a new car every two years when they could have driven the other one into retirement???? Because we like to..... ! Not because one or the other is so much better than the other..... if a person can't find gold with a 3000... then i really doubt buying a 7000 is going to make that much of a difference... but if that same person chooses to do so ,,, more power to him/her....... i try not to overthink things....... and that is very easy for me to do!!! Here is where it all started for me back in paleo days.....
  6. Go for it JP !!!! Let me ask this rhetorical question, if time and money weren't an object... "How many of us here in the USA wouldn't love to go to AU and run with JP for a day or two?" _____________________ JP, You may be surprised at how many of us Yanks end up over there for a "tour and training holiday!!!!" My main hold up for coming to AU has always been in finding a host---(you may remember I asked you that question back in 2011...) I for one do nor want to come over the pond to wing it by myself.. Having a person (family) like yours hosting will make made my decision even easier!!! I look forward to perusing your training packages--- and MITCHEL---- have you got your backpack ready to roll????? Sounds like one of those "trips of a lifetime" for a gold dreamer....... oh ..the possibilities...my mind is wandering now..... Thanks JP This sounds incredibly fun.... !!! ((( now if I can get a motorcycle and follow GoldHound around whilst there too )))))
  7. A nice one....trying its best to get by you!!!
  8. Hahahaha... rumor control Steve.. But I have been waiting on this unit since back in the summer and I am ready for it..!!!!! (Sourdough Scott says I like to stir the pot )
  9. Wow those ears look like the mods I did on the Minelab 7005 this year..they kept snapping off when I used my detector for a cane crawling out of canyons in NorCal
  10. I just got my electronic receipt from Rob A. He ordered my Racer tonight! I like the size and weight of that coil!
  11. I bought my first gold detector from Lucky (a GP Extreme) and he gave me some pointers that same weekend--yes we found gold... it has been an ongoing march since then...
  12. I understand Steve... I will probably get a set just to compare with my others.... That will be some subjective data we can discuss later.....lol
  13. Ah ha... you made me read some more---2.4Ghz is a band that many items use.. BT is just one of a zillion....like garage door openers, routers, wi-fi, etc... So now i have to go back to one of your posts regarding the headphone system for the racer--if i can find it...and read up some more... I'm still thinking I may have a valid point that the Makro headphones would be proprietary ..... and i could not use them between detectors,,,,right?
  14. The wireless headphones I got work great... I heard about the KLEER technology from nenad@phasetechnical. It takes a little searching, but the best thing about owning them is that they work for ANY detector with an audio output jack... The makros are limited to a detector that uses their type of BT dongle, I would imagine. Mine are reportedly faster because of something to do with compression times of BT.... (read...less lag).... Don't know if all that is true...But mine work great on the 7000, 2300, 705, and of course the 7005 :-) P$ I didn't check prices for the other racer options.... I haven't even looked at them...
  15. I was just wondering that Steve.. Is their a price list out for the extra coils yet???? I couldn't find it in the brochure... I will write in on the space for questions.. Thanks again for lunch yesterday....! Found it on the web--- http://www.metaldetector.com/makro-racer-metal-detector
  16. Alright!!! Thanks for the update Dilek!! Picking mine out.... now
  17. Wow...What a shocker!!! I'll have to admit I wasn't suspecting anything like this when Steve called to have lunch..... instead---- I figured the obvious---- you know ... that he would be looking for information about detecting in general, I knew he would be asking me all kinds of questions about researching and geology, claims, all those details he hasn't yet picked up on....and I was certain he would be asking me about that latest great find..... But for somehow he kept his cool..... he didn't even ask me one question about how to adjust his 7000.... ?????? ------------------------------- In all seriousness, Thank you Steve and Dilek for the gift..... and mainly just the thought behind it--- We all pretty well think the Professor was bogus now..... but I don't know that for sure....and just because I didn't hear anything back won't keep me from giving things to people in the future..... I did my part, (just like DrillerDave did when he let me borrow that detector before I could afford to buy it) I did my part and showed the Professor the Paul that Jesus had changed! And that's all I can do...... Thanks again everyone on the forum---- Merton--you can PM me......[and yes...the answer is NO ]
