  1. Oh no----- no way--- i was just thinking of helping him out of his addiction---- my thoughts were only to help in his time of need......grinning!!!!
  2. I'm looking at No CA with what has to be the trashy places in the world for detectorists !!! lol If I can get in and clean up surface trash by raking with magnets and then work a "SL-007"-- i think that would be a good thing... There are still 10 million buts here too but getting rid of some of the trash might get me digging where i normally won't.. I haven't tried that with the Super 7005 yet.... i am just now starting to learn how to set it---- paul
  3. Are you gonna get rid of the SL??? I believe if i put a few tweaks on it may do better than the Invincible 7005 ~~~~~
  4. Yes,, I agree with Steve! You are in a great area for gold!!!! I was in the American yesterday sniping... and trying out a new invention.... Don't miss Rye Patch and if you do go ask them where Scott is!
  5. Its been two years since i camped there for a couple of weeks and hunted with Border Boy when he had time to come up---- I was using my 3500 with a 12x 15 and he had broken out his big gun the 20" coil on the 5000--- The first evening we got together we went out right before making camp---- and he slammed a gorgeous slug that looked like a hockey puck --- it took us over an hour to dig it in that hard clay---but it was a dandy !!!! Great memory from Greaterville...! Let me be perfectly clear i didnt detect this nugget i just go to help dig it up!!!! I cant find BB's picture or i would post it...
  6. Well so far i have always gotten something with the "Indomitable 7005" until today---- Showing that sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing... I found out today after running in some terribly hot ground (looked like bricks smashed up-) that i have been running the exact opposite settings as I thought i was!!!!! Go figure--- I was trying to quiet down all the crazy sounds i was getting....beep, beeep, boop, bob, beepy deepy..... in that super hot ground So i switched down to one of the 4 modes i had programmed myself as a "7005 Super Dooper Stealth Mode program",.... but had seldom used-- ( i have 4 settings options in coin mode) OK, so now i am down in #4 program and things are all beautifully quiet---- BUT----- Do you all remember back when some of you cautioned me about notching out certain numbers???------hmmmmm.... Well i thought i was soooo smart and you all were smoking.... because i was finding rings and all kinds of stuff thinking everything was notched out---(Are you following me???--i was exactly backwards in my thinking and set-up '''lol) Well--this was that program!!! -----All along, I thought being able to see the all the black bars meant it was working ----not notched! And now after a skunk day I realize my old , "super dooper" was not so sooper after all,,,,,hahahaha---- And now if you have been able to follow my rambling you will understand that I have been running with almost no numbers notched since i have had the machine and it was painfully obvious today what happens when you notch out too many numbers!!!! I hope all you old timers in the biz have a good guffaw at this story -----and more importantly i hope the newbies learn their machine better than i have---- it was pretty easy to use until i started thinking..... Happy hunting! It ain't over yet!!! I'm going back to program number ONE!!!!! paul

  12. Another day, another beach..!!!!!!! Hit a beach today and the mighty 7005 smacked them around again today..... One ring with turquoise---- two earrings ------ one Hobie emblem, two quarters, 4 pennies, one hairclip bow type deal, one 22 short unfired round, 3 lead sinkers,,,,,, and some trash....lol So far no problem beach hunting----a penny is the easiest thing for me to discern by the sound,,,,, quarters are a little harder because they get up there in the high range,,,, thats it for today!!! paul
  13. I don't see Scott putting up the place where he found his new patch..think about what you asked him to do....everyone and their brother would be there.... Now, a saddle is: http://soleadventure.com/2013/02/how-to-read-and-interpret-topographic-maps/

  16. Had a guy i work with call me asking if i would come to East Tahoe to detect for a ring one of his church members lost during a baptism Sunday. He said he knew pretty well the area that it should be in-------- So i said what the heck, I have never had my detectors in the lake so I told him i would be there. Well, I took out the trusty 7005 with all the "paulsmods"--- and walked down to the water---the sand was mainly decomposed granite and seemed have a low mineral content--- Using the 7005 with the '7500hz' concentric 'modded coil'--i set out into the cold, clear water of Tahoe.....it is amazingly clear. I listened to where my friend said he thought it may be and i started walking gently up to my ........"quit it area" brrrrrrr...... I was in water as deep as i could go, without submerging the control box, as I started sweeping and within 15 feet i heard two targets at the same time a high and a med audio-- i was on 4 tone=-- My friend was using my handheld sand scoop to dive and dig ------ he was having a hard time digging because he would float up when he put pressure on the scoop---so we kinda scratched off that target as a training hole--- I began my grid of about 20 feet to the south and was amazed at how quiet the sand was--i was expecting way more trash targets-- i guess the 7005 had them all discriminated out for me--(i haven't figured out all the settings go yet) OK,.... i turned back north to the area i began and started my return sweep---kinda like mowing the lawn---when i got back to my starting point I hit the same targets i had hit at the beginning.... So i told my digger to go a little deeper with the scoop this time,,,,-----and to make sure he did,,,,, i pushed down on his back as he was ("digging/bubbling and screaming for me to let him up) But alas..... we had the ring this time!!!!--- a beautiful Hawaiian handmade men's band weighing in at approximately 1/4 -1/2 ounce..... and it was the ring we were after! The owner lives over in Dayton NV which is about 50- 60 miles away, but just happened to be in the area and he came rushing down to the beach when we texted him and told him we had found his wedding band---Man was he happy!!! Some milestones for me today- -First ring -First water recovery -First ring with the 7005 -First ring in Tahoe -First time i ever tried beach hunting in the water I like it !!!!!! Please use your zoom--- i couldn't figure out how to blow it up....
